Can a lip lift fix a horizontal line in my philtrum?
Likely, but can't be promised
May 8, 2021
Hi Polite,Thanks for your question. A lip lift would certainly improve the appearance of your upper lip at rest but the effect of the procedure when you smile is less certain. If the horizontal line appears as a result of skin redundancy, then yes the lip lift should improve that appearance by virtue of removing a portion of the skin under your nose. If it is due to the complex interplay of muscles when you smile, the result would be less predictable.Hope that helps!Dr. Horowitz
How can you promote oxygen flow after a BBL?
One cigarette will not make a difference.
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question. Cigarette smoke can compromise blood supply. Having said that, one cigarette will not make a difference, so relax!
I typically recommend patients abstain from all forms of nicotine (and avoid secondhand smoke) for 4 weeks pre and postop, but make sure you follow the instructions from your surgeon.
Good luck!
How many hours of surgery time would a combination BBL and breast reduction be?
Hard to say without seeing you.
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question. As a rough estimate, for cases such as this, I employ a two team approach, where your breasts and abdomen can be addressed simultaneously. This limits the operative time and allows you to be discharged the same day, as opposed to having to stay overnight in the hospital, which most patients would prefer to avoid!
Having said that, a typical case would be approximately 4 hrs.
Hope that helps!
I feel like my bottom cheeks are hanging out. How can this be fixed?
Hard to say with no photos

Hello and thanks for your question about BBL. It's hard for me to answer your question without photos. Is it possible that the faja is cutting across your buttocks? Contrary to what many Docs say, I do not believe it helps your postop result and I would leave it off if there is any question of it making an indentation on your buttocks.
Hope that's helpful!
If I am a receptionist and I sit all day.. how long do I need to take off from work? I can get up
You can return to work when the pain allows.
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question. You can return to work when the pain allows and when you are no longer on a narcotic. This is typically after one week.
I recommend you do not put any pressure on the grafted areas for 8 weeks, but this does not prevent you from sitting. This is because we actually sit on the backs of our thighs, not the crown of the buttocks where the fat is grafted. I recommend patients sit on a stool so they can completely avoid pressure on...
Is it okay if I have trigger point injections in muscle knots before surgery?
Short Answer - Yes!

I don't see any contraindication! Even if your physician injects a steroid, it does not act systemically, so there is no effect on wound healing.
I am wanting to get a BBL and Breast Augmentation at the same time in April. What are the pros and
Your Recovery will be Harder, But Worth It
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question. Combining the procedures will mean two main things-
1. You will have to lay on your belly to keep pressure off your buttocks - this will be more difficult having had the breast augmentation but can be accomplished by laying on pillows.
2. You will be in more pain.
Having said that, most patients find that these negatives are outweighed by the positives of combining the procedures (one exposure to anesthesia, one time off work, etc).
I combine...
When someone gets a BBL, do they have to get all of the fat from their stomach transferred to thei
The Procedure is Individualized
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question! As much or as little fat is transplanted as necessary to achieve the goals of the operation. If symmetry is your goal, this may not require transfer of all the fat obtained via liposuction.
Other patients may want to maximize buttock augmentation, while others, like yourself, may prioritize shapliness. That’s what I discussed in the blog link below.
Hope that helps!
If I start to gain weight back will it go to my butt or will those fat cells no longer exist?
Transplanted Fat Will Remember Where it Came From
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question! The fat that was transferred to your buttocks will behave like it did when it was in the part of the body from which it was taken. This was probably from your abdomen. If you tended to gain or lose weight in your abdomen, your butt will now react that way, rather than the way your butt reacted prior to the surgery.
Hope that helps!
Do you have suggestions for the opening of incision after a LBL?
You May Want to Change Your Wound Care Regimen
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question. This is a common area for minor wound breakdown after a lower body lift. Make sure that you are not applying pressure to this area.
Although wounds such as these typically heal quickly, wet-to-dry dressings may cause the underlying healthy tissue to dry out, and may cause pain and bleeding with dressing changes. They are not typically recommended by wound care experts.

Is a body lift an option for a slender person?
It Depends on What Your Lower Back Looks Like.
Feb 18, 2019
Hello and thanks for your question!. The lower body lift can be considered a continuation of the tummy tuck all the way around your waist. This would be appropriate if you have loose skin to your flanks and lower back.
To address your buttocks without implants, instead of discarding the excess skin, the excess tissue to the low back could be used to “auto-augment” your buttocks.
A similar procedure can be used to augment the breasts in lieu of implants.
Been advised on over the muscle by one doctor, under from another?
I would recommend under the muscle
Mar 22, 2018
If you are thin and have little native breast tissue, there will be little coverage over the implant. This will make the edge of the implant and any surface rippling much more visible.
This would outweigh any potential benefit from placing the implant over the muscle to enhance your cleaveage.
Hope that helps!
Do I wear compression garment for hip fat transfer and BBL? Will it compromise my results?
Every Surgeon Has Their Own Opinion Regarding This
Mar 22, 2018
Personally, I am not a big fan of compression garments at all. Yes, they can prevent swelling and most patients feel "supported" while wearing them. I do not believe they improve your final results, however.
Similarly, there is disagreeement regarding putting compression over the grafted areas. Some surgeons believe this helps shape the area whereas others believe the pressure may negatively affect the "take" of the fat grafts. Hence, garments are...
Do I have enough fat for a BBL?
You need to temper your expectations
Mar 22, 2018
Lipo and a BBL would be appropriate, but I do not believe your results would approach those in your "wish pic".
Lipo would improve the appearance of your abdomen, flanks and low back. Aggressive liposuctioning of your low back will also give the illusion of increased buttock projection.
Fat grafting to the lateral buttock would be critical to improve the outer "frame" of your buttocks, but unfortunately, the amount of added projection would be limited by the relatively small...
Would liposuction, tummy tuck and BBL be the right thing for me?
Yes, if your expectations are appropriate.
Mar 22, 2018
You look to be a good candidate for these procedures, but I would caution you about three things:
1. At your current size, you are likely to have a degree of "visceral fat", meaning fat around your internal organs. This cannot be addressed surgically and will limit the improvement to your abdominal shape after the surgery.
2. Unfortunately, postoperative risks are more common in higher BMI patients. You should discuss this with your potential surgeon.
3. Doing the tummy...
