Will Botox Prevent Wrinkles?

Prevention of lines and wrinkles

The best way to prevent lines and wrinkles is to not smoke, use a sunscreen with SPF 30 every morning and retinol at night. Botox can address the crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead and filler for the nasolabial folds. (Melvin Elson, MD, Nashville Dermatologist)

Botox is a wonderful product for crow’s feet and works very well when injected by an experienced provider.

The best results for microneedling occur when done in regularity.

For best results, It is recommended to do 3-6 treatments a year depending on evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon.

PRP has been shown to have better results and my patients seem to love it. Just as importantly Post procedure care including a gentle cleanser, some form of antioxidant (Vitamin C) and a moisturizer and sun protection for SPF of at least 30. (Dan Mills, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)

Preventing Wrinkles From Setting In

Botox would be a good idea. Patients as young as 23 have preventative Botox to pre-empt deep wrinkles from setting in.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to treating nasolabial folds: use fillers to lift the skin underneath the fold/line or inject fiiller into the mid cheek and malar areas to replace volume and lift.

I prefer the later because it produces more natural results. Try a basic skincare regimen which contains alpha hydroxy acids, retinoic acid/retinoids and Vitamin C. To tighten pores, improve skin texture and diminish uneven color, you may try a mild peel or microneedling. (Justin Harper, MD, Columbus Physician)

Face rejuvenation using injectables, lasers, microneedling, peels, and skincare

I think injectable treatments such as Botox/Dysport and dermal fillers combined with lasers and peels and a good at home skincare regimen will give you a noticeable enhancement.

Botox Can Reduce So-called Dynamic Wrinkles

Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport are used to improve dynamic lines and wrinkles (i.e. crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines).

Dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Sculptra are used to address age related volume loss and to treat static lines and wrinkles such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Gentle lasers treatments and chemical peels can improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, and help with pigmentation.

All of these in office treatments should be combined with a good at home skincare regimen which at a minimum should include an antioxidant, sun protection, and retinol.

As you know, there are a lot of different treatment options and that is why it is some important to see a physician who can help you decide which ones are right for you. (Shaun Patel, MD, Miami Physician)

Botox Is Effective In Preventing The Progression And Appearance Of Wrinkles

Prevent lines and wrinkles

The best way to prevent skin aging is paying attention to your general health with a healthy diet that is not just about fruits and vegetables but also rich in good fatty acids rich in natural Vitamin A, E, D and omega 3.

Sun exposure and smoking will destroy your collagen, modify your DNA and make your skin look like cardboard. Botox can help some fine lines and good skin care regime can be the icing on the cake! (Aurora DeJuliis, MD, Montclair Physician)

Wants to avoid fine lines and wrinkles of the face

Prevention is key to maintaining healthy and youthful facial skin.

Here are some steps:

Cosmetic Treatments To Prevent Wrinkles

  1. AVOID THE SUN. Use a UVA and UVB blocker with SPF of 30 or greater. Apply this 30 mins before sun exposure and then every 4 hours throughout the day;
  2. Start a regimen of skin care that includes a daily cleanser and moisturizer specific for your skin type. A skilled aesthetician, plastic surgeon, or dermatologist can help find the right product;
  3. Use Retin-A every day. Start with a low concentration and build up to 0.5%. (Daniel Greenwald, MD, Tampa Plastic Surgeon)

Skin care

I like to make the analogy of any object that you want to keep looking knew would not be stored in front of a window and never do anything to it.

If you’ve repented of Lee create a crease or damage on your skin it will be difficult to remove that eventually wrinkle or damage. Much like the object or fabric in the window it is best to protect it from sunlight keep it clean and well cared for and free of wrinkles.

Does Botox Really Prevent Wrinkles

So skincare involves protecting your skin from the sun and damage, keeping it moisturized and using a good skin care product line which will include a small amount of a retinoid.

These are things which will help maintain good skin health and resist environmental damage.

I would suggest going to the board certain plastic Surgeon or dermatologist who has been trained in the art of skincare and one who has a large skin care center.

The people there can help create a tailored package to you that can change with time and season. (Mark T. Boschert, MD, Saint Louis Plastic Surgeon)

Preventative treatments

It’s Never Too Early For Botox

I have a few great tips:

  1. Use a sunblock every day on your face no matter what the weather is, and use a retinol every night. My favorite for these right now is the PCA line of retinols as well as their weightless protection sunscreen.
  2. Microneedling once a month really helps with fine lines, pigmentation issues, and shrinks pore size. Occasionally, I will still have a breakout and will pair microneedling with a chemical peel which really helps dry things up. Any product will penetrate deeper after microneedling and work better. I usually recommend either TNS essential serum or Recovery complex from SkinMedica. TNS is a little too oily for me, so I stick with Recovery complex.
  3. You may want to consider botox on your forehead. You also start losing volume in your face as you progress through your 30’s.

Voluma in the cheeks really helps to lift the soft tissue in your face up and minimizes depth of the nasolabial folds without actually injecting into them. If the nasolabial folds have to be directly injected I use either Vollure or Juvederm Ultra Plus. (Sarah Saxon, MD, Austin Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Should You Get Botox To Prevent Wrinkles

Slowing Down the Clock

The first piece of advice I have is stay out of the sun. Nothing damages our skin more than sun exposure. Always wear sunscreen, even in the winter. BOTOX works well for crow’s feet.

There are several options for nasolabial folds. Your physician will recommend a specific filler after seeing you.

Pore size can be decreased very effectively with HALO laser treatments as well as medical grade products. I would recommend that you visit a facility that can do a complexion analysis before deciding on skin care treatments or products. (Janet Turkle, MD, Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon)

Botox can totally help you out with the crows feet. For the lips, it is our preference to use Restylane Silk as it provides a smooth beautiful finish to them. Just make sure that, as we always advice, you go to an injector that has the training and the experience to guarantee the desired results. (William Yates, MD, Chicago Hair Restoration Surgeon)

Treating Lines And Wrinkles Early Prevents Them From Becoming Too Deep

Healthy skin starts with a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy, exercising and not smoking are an important foundation.

Skin care basics include a nightly retinol, moisturizer, face wash and sun screen. Additional skin lightening agents and antioxidants can help as well.

Retinol will reduce your pore size. You could also consider a peel or laser resurfacing. Prophylactic botox for the frown lines and crows feet can help prevent those lines from forming to begin with. Over time you can expect an increased duration of action as well.

Then you can use fillers to help maintain facial volume. The most common areas treated are the cheek bones, nasolabial folds and the corners of the mouth. (Daniel Butz, MD, Brookfield Physician)

Botox, fillers, and skin care are all good things to do for maintenance. This can keep you looking more youthful with less lines and healthier skin. (Steven Wallach, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)

You will benefit from botox for horizontal forehead lines. Not only it will help soften these lines, it will also prevent these from getting etched in the skin. Crow’s feet are lines that appear along the outer corner of eye ( initially with smiling and later get etched in the skin) and botox is a great treatment option for these lines too.

As for nasolabial folds, Vollure and Belotero Balance are great options. (Naima Cheema, MD, Roswell Family Physician)

It is important to remember some easy initial treatment recommendations:

  1. Hydrate yourself fully each day to ensure appropriate skin turgor and tone.
  2. Start a good skin care regimen that incorporates a daily retinol, sunblock, and lightening cream while supplementing with a good eye cream that contains a small amount of retinol. You may also want to consider a topical HA cream, such as SkinMedica’s HA5.
  3. To treat your crow’s feet and lower eye wrinkles a small amount of Botox can help smooth them while conservative filler use will help add volume to reduce hollowness in the nasolabial folds.

I would recommend Juvederm Ultra Plus and Vollure. (Nelson Castillo, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Crows feet and nasolabial folds

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are great options for crow’s feet as they help with muscle control and smoothing fine lines & wrinkles. For nasolabial folds I recommend Juvederm, Restylane & Radiesse. Microneedling is great for reducing the appearance of large pores, uneven pigmentation, skin tightening.

For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist. (Bruce E. Katz, MD, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
