Will Botox Help Frown Lines?
Botox will most definitely help with 11s frown lines. A plastic surgeon should evaluate your muscle activity and determine how many units you require.
I typically administer 20 – 40 units for the glabella (this amount will vary). You will start noticing your 11s softening 2-3 days after your treatment.
Final results are noticeable 2 weeks post treatment. Your results will last 3 – 4 months and with each maintenance treatment your results will be more and more apparent. (Omar Fouda Neel, MD, FRCSC, FACS, Montreal Plastic Surgeon)
This is a resounding yes. Those lines are exactly the ones that botox treats. I would be very confident these lines will go with a botox treatment. Perhaps only 70-100% gone first time but almost fully gone within 2 or 3 treatments. (Paul Munsanje, MD, London Physician)

Botox and Frown lines
Botox will be useful in preventing the lines from deepening in the future.
In addition to the Botox, you may need to inject a filler to help with the volume loss due to the deeper crease. You will see a more significant improvement with the filler. You can consider Restylane Silk, Beletoro, or Juvederm.
These filler typically last 6 months+ whereas the Botox will typically last 3-4 months. It is important to note that if you chose only to do the filler without the Botox, the filler will not last as long because the filler will be broken down faster with the constant movement of the frown muscle. (John Tang, MD, Los Gatos Physician)
In fact, it was the first indication approved by the FDA. I do recommend a consultation for new patients. A physician can ask you questions, examine your face, and make recommendations for a treatment appropriate for your face to produce a safe and happy result. (Victor Chung, MD, San Diego Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox relaxes the muscles that cause the skin to crease in this area. You will need to maintain your results every 3-4 months. (Jean M. Casello, MD, Northborough Physician)
Botox for 11s
Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle then can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. Yes, Botox can be used to treat the glabella (11’s) region.
You will start to see the effects of the Botox 1 week after injection and full effect in 2 weeks. You will need injections every 3-6 months as the Botox wears off. I recommend having a consultation with an expert injector in your area to determine the best treatment plan for you. (Hardik Soni, MD (not currently practicing), Summit Emergency Medicine Physician)
Botox, as well as Dysport and Xeomin, can improve the lines you are showing.
In fact, these were the first FDA indication for treatment with Botox cosmetically and this procedure, when done by experts, is a wonderful treatment. Find the right provider and you will be happy with the results. (Michael Gold, MD, Nashville Dermatologic Surgeon)
Neurotoxins such as Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport are designed to relax the frown muscles and by doing so can soften these lines. The treatment is temporary, will and last approximately 3-4 months. (Julie Edween, DO, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for the “11’s” (Glabellar Furrows)
Botox works best for wrinkles caused by dynamic movement… i.e. movement of muscles causing the creases. As a result, it works well for lines between the eyebrows (so called “11’s” or glabellar furrows) as well as crow’s feet (periorbital rhytides).
In my opinion best option to get consistent and good results is to see a doctor who performs a large number of these types of procedures. . (Andrew Kaufman, MD, Los Angeles Dermatologic Surgeon)
11s are bothersome for many and a neuromodulator such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin can definitely help soften the lines which will provide you with a rejuvenated look for a period of 3-4 months. It is a very safe treatment, but you must ensure that you are being treated by an experienced injector who truly understands facial anatomy. (Anup Patel, MD, MBA, Orlando Physician)
Botox helps the brow
Botox will help reduce the depth of wrinkles in the brow area. If you spread the skin and the wrinkles are still there it will probably take several treatments in succession to get them to go away.
Wrinkles that disappear with spreading are typically much improved on the first treatment. . (Jennifer Parker Porter, MD, FACS, Bethesda Facial Plastic Surgeon)
The 11 lines are caused by repetitive muscle movement in the area. By injecting these muscles and paralyzing them, the skin in the area will smoothed and the 11 lines should greatly improve. . (Jonathan Kulbersh, MD, Charlotte Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox would likely reduce the appearance of the lines. It should also help prevent the permanent formation of these lines that occurs with aging. Also keep in mind you should take care of your skin and always way sunscreen. (Satyen Undavia, MD, Philadelphia Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is the perfect answer for your 11s. Find a reputable doctor in your area who can give you treatment advice. Oftentimes, in younger patients after a few treatments, lower “preventative” doses can be used.
Your early 30s is a great time to be thinking about a preventative skincare regimen as well with a medical grade line. And the most important- use sunscreen to prevent skin damage. (Daniel J. Givens, MD, Dubuque Facial Plastic Surgeon)
