What's the total fat reduction by a single CoolSculpting session in ml/oz or grams?
Coolsculpt vs. liposuction
Feb 12, 2019
Thank you for posting your question.  The short answer to your question is that if you measure 'effectiveness' by the amount of fat that can be removed there is no way to consider Coolsculpting as effective as liposuction, but that's not the best way to compare the two.  Liposuction can remove the most amount of fat in the most precise manner, but for the right candidate, Coolsculpt can remove the fat without a surgical procedure and the associated factors.  Someone who needs several th...
In your professional opinion do I need a lift or should I wait and see?
Will a lift be needed?
Feb 12, 2019
Thank you for posting your question and your pictures.  There are clearly benefits to undergoing a lift at the same time as implant removal, but I understand trying to avoid the additional scars if possible.  While an in-person exam is necessary to give you recommendations that are truly applicable to your situation, I can suggest an intervention that can help you and your plastic surgeon answer your question more definitively.  If, as you suspect,  your implants are saline they can be defla...
Is it common practice for surgeons to completely remove the pocket when performing implant removal su
Does the capsule have to go?
Jan 21, 2019
Thank you for posting your question.  The answer is unfortunately not  a simple yes or no, because it really depends on the nature of the capsule and why the implants are being removed.  If the capsule is smooth, thin and soft, and the implants are being removed because a patient just no longer wants to have them, then it can probably be left in place and shouldn't cause any problems in the future.  However, if there is scarring, thickening or calcification of the capsule, or if the imp...
Will SculpSure work on my belly?
Will SculpSure Work?
Jan 21, 2019
Thank you for posting your pictures along with your question.  My initial impression is that while SculpSure, or any other non-surgical fat reduction technique will work, it will probably take multiple sessions to achieve what you are hoping for.  It also looks like you have a moderate amount of extra skin which depending on your skin's elasticity may not tighten up when the fat is removed.  My suggestion is to make an appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who also provides no...
Is it safe to get a tummy tuck with a c-section T-incision?
Tummy Tuck with a "T" scar
Jan 21, 2019
Thank you for posting your question. A vertical scar is not usually a problem when performing a tummy tuck, and depending on high up it goes and on how much loose skin that there is, it can frequently be removed completely.  The horizontal portion of your 'T' will be removed as part of the tummy tuck as well, since the usual incision for a tummy tuck is also horizontal and placed low on the abdomen so that it can be hidden.  Make sure to discuss your concerns and your questions when you h...
What would you recommend to remove the excess fat and skin on my back?
smooth your back
Jan 21, 2019
Thanks for posting your question and picture.  Based on your picture and desires you have listed, surgery is likely to be the best way to remove the excess skin and fat and give you a smooth contour.  simply removing fat with liposuction will probably make your loose skin even looser.  Make sure to have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to help you make the best decision.
Do you recommend a Botox top-up?
Top Off Botox
Oct 30, 2018
Thank you for posting this question and your pictures.  It looks like you have had an excellent result but may still have a small amount of residual activity of the muscles that create the "11"s.  I always ask my patients to return two to three weeks after their initial treatment so that we can both review how they responded and if it would be beneficial, to top them off.  In reviewing your initial pictures your "11"s were very deep so you might have a residual crease that additional Bo...
Seeking a second opinion: do I really need a mastopexy?
Do I need a lift
Oct 30, 2018
Thank you for posting your question and your pictures.  Based on your pictures it makes sense to consider implants alone using a dual plane technique and possibly lowering the inframammary fold, but you really need to be evaluated in person to know how successful that  approach will be.  Consider a second consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon to see if they think an augmentation alone can achieve your desired look.  Best of luck!
What is the recovery from a hernia repair alone feel like compared to an abdominoplasty?
hernia repair vs. tummy tuck
Oct 16, 2018
Thank you for posting this question.  As a general statement, recovery after a laparascopic umbilical hernia repair alone should be much simpler, quicker, and less painful than following an abdominoplasty which would include a full repair of the diastasis, removal of excess abdominal skin and fat, and the umbilical hernia at the same time.  To get a more specific answer you should ask those questions directly to the surgeon who is proposing the laparascopic hernia repair and the board ce...
What is the best arm fat removal option for me?
Arm Fat removal
Oct 7, 2018
Thanks you for posting your question and arm pictures.  It looks like you have good skin tone but have excess fat that you would like to get rid of.  I agree with your instinct not to try and treat the area with Kybella, but there are other non-surgical options that are more likely to be successful; CoolSculpt should remove the excess fat that you are concerned about with little if any 'down time' and no scarring.  While liposuction would be the most precise and definitive treatment, it do...
Would Coolsculpting help me get a flatter stomach? I recently lost about 30lbs.
CoolSculpt after weight loss
Aug 26, 2018
Congratulations on loosing the weight and thanks for posting your question and pictures.  While it takes an in-person exam to know for sure, if the areas of fullness above your belly button contain 'pinchable' fat then you should be an excellent CoolSculpt candidate.  Depending on how much you are working out it's not likely that you will loose the fat in question without losing more weight, and more muscle is not going to make it disappear unless you loose more weight (which you say you ...

MiraDry after melanoma
Aug 19, 2018
Thank you for posting this question.  If the only procedure performed to treat your melanoma was a wide excision and there were no lymph nodes removed dryfrom the axils (armpit) then I would be comfortable treating your sweating with MiraDry.  The best thing would be to ask your oncologic surgeon if they feel it would be safe to have the procedure first.  I hope that you get that green light because MiraDry really does stop the embarrassing sweating.

Cool mini of the neck
Aug 16, 2018
Thank you for posting your pictures as well as your question.  While nothing can replace an in-person evaluation I think that your concern is probably well founded.  CoolSculpt can remove fat but it will not cause loose skin to tighten.  I suggest seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your community for a thorough evaluation and discussion of your options.
63 year old with Replicon implants which are very encapsulated. Can these be safely removed?
Can Replicon Implants be removed safely?
Aug 1, 2018
Thank you for posting this question.  Replicon implants were silicone implants  with a polyurethane surface  that gave them a 'fuzzy' texture in an effort to decrease the incidence of capsular contracture.  The appropriate treatment is the same as for any other implant that has developed capsular contracture, removal of the implant and the surrounding capsule.   Make sure to see an experienced board certified plastic surgeon for removal and to discuss how to proceed after that.  Best of luck!
What's the best procedure to reduce back and lower belly fat, would several sessions of CoolSculpting
reducing back and belly fat
Jul 19, 2018
Thanks for your question and accompanying pictures.  While nothing can replace an in-person exam, your skin looks like it still has reasonable elasticity and therefore fat reduction, either through liposuction or non-surgically using CoolSculpt are options to consider.  If there is already hanging skin on your lower belly then a mini abdominoplasty may be needed as well. While CoolSculpt can reduce fat non-surgically with little to no downtime, it can only remove 20-25% of the fat in a g...
