How effective is Botox for hyperhidrosis of the scalp? Are there potential side effects (such as
Botox for hyperhydrosis
Jan 26, 2021
BOTOX injections into the scalp would benefit you in TWO ways. (1) With microBotox, you can shrink the glands that deliver sweat and decrease the appearance of sweat. (2). Botox can relax the muscles and increase flow to the scalp. If the hair follices are healthy, this can actually increase the hair density.
You should go to a trained and qualified injector to have the best results.
I’m 30, what is the best treatment for fine lines, wrinkles and skin tightening. My Dr does not
Best Treatment
Jan 13, 2021
Fortunately, you have nice, young skin. When your face is relaxed there are minimal wrinkles and I only see the small amount of crow’s feet when you are squinting or looking down. Botox is the best treatment for those wrinkles. In addition to that, you could also use chemical peels and/or the BBL laser. There are many good options for you!
What are my options to fixing this dent in my forehead?
Dent
Jan 4, 2021
Sorry that you have to deal with this issue. There are different approaches depending on how deep the dent/defect goes. It is truly a bony problem, then you can fix it with surgery to fill in the defect. The more common problem is scarring related to skin and muscle. This can be fixed with a combination of treatments that increase collagen production including microneedling, laser, and fillers. Good luck!
What are the risks and benefits of medial epicanthoplasty?
Risks
Jan 4, 2021
Epicanthoplasty definitely can open up your eyes more. It is most commonly done in the Asian population so make sure you seek a provider that has lots of experience with Asian patients – I would recommend an oculoplastic surgeon. It is a relatively simply procedure that can be completed in 15-20 minutes. There will be bruising and swelling for up to a week and sutures are removed at the one week mark. The main risk with epicanthoplasty is scarring and webbing of the inner eye fold.
One eyelid is lower than the other. Any advice?
Asymmetry
Dec 29, 2020
I do see that one eyelid is lower than the other. Most people have asymmetry to the face; this can be caused by injury, repetitive motions (like pulling eyelid down to insert contacts) or just natural aging more on one side. You would want to see an ophthalmologist and also check your thyroid levels to make sure if it is really an “eyelid problem” and not an “eye bulging” problem.
It is not obvious, so you don’t have to have it fixed. If it bothers you though, a surgery can be done to…
I’m looking for the best treatment to get rid of under eye lines, any suggestions?
Lower Eyelids
Dec 29, 2020
Lower eyelids like yours are hard to treat because it is in part due to (1) discoloration from genetics and (2) some malar edema (swelling around the cheeks and bones).
(1) For the darkened skin, you will also need to treat the pigmention with skin care products like retin-A and chemical peels to maintain even skin tone.
(2) For the edema/bulges, you will probably benefit the most from a laser procedure, either microneedling or radiofrequency. This tightens the skins and spaces around the…
Can I find a different doctor to remove my Voluma since my previous one has moved to another sta
Full Cheeks
Dec 23, 2020
Usually, Voluma lasts up to 2 years so there should not be much left in your cheeks at this time. If possible, get your old records because there are different types of filler, i.e. Sculptra that last longer and stimulate collagen production in the face which cannot be dissolved.
A plastic surgeon can use hyaluronidase to dissolve old Juvederm based filler. It is usually placed in a specific pattern so it can be done by someone else other than your original doctors.
Best of luck!
What is the best procedure for extremely deep sunken eyes?
Eye Bags
Dec 23, 2020
Unfortunately, you have a multifactorial issues for under your eyes. 1) You have genetically darker skin around your eyes that is hard to treat and 2) you have deep orbital (bony) rims which creates a hollow effect.
There is no cure or permanent solution for this, but there are things you can do to make it better. For the dark skin, chemical peels, lasers, and skin brightening cream are the best treatments. These need to be maintained for the dark circle to stay away.
Next for the follows,…
Is lip filler less painful the longer you leave the numbing cream on?
Filler pain
Dec 23, 2020
Numbing cream can decrease the pain with filler injection as it numbs the skin and you do not feel the puncture of the needle. Depending on the type of numbing cream, it needs to sit on the skin for 15-30 minutes. Leaving it on longer than that does not help because the numbing cream only absorbs into the top most layers of the skin.
Most fillers have lidocaine mixed into them, the area will feel numb as the filler injections are going in. Good luck!
What should I do about this keloid I’ve had for 12 years on my stomach?
Scars
Nov 24, 2020
I would not resort to a tattoo just yet. Fortunately, you have some options. You cut have the scar surgery removed. Knowing that you have a history of keloid the surgeon can use special techniques to decrease scarring such as injections of steroid or 5-FU. You also have the option of laser treatment which can break up scar tissue and flatten the keloid.
I have indentations underneath my cheekbones. Is there a procedure that could fill those in?
Indentations
May 5, 2020
It is hard to answer without knowing your age, gender, or having a photo.

Usually these indentations are from fat and volume loss in the face as you age. Dermal fillers such as Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Sculptra are great to add volume back to the midface.

Good luck!

Would laser for birthmark removal leave a white patch?
Birthmark
Apr 28, 2020
The answer to this question depends on your skin type. If you have lighter skin, lighter eyes, and light colored eyes (Fitzpatrick type I-III), you are less likely to have a white patch. If you have darker skin, black hair, and dark brown eyes (Fitzpatrick type IV – VI), then hypo-pigmentation or white patches can be a side effect of laser.
Make sure you go to an experienced doctor who has treated birthmarks before. Usually it will take many sessions and a combination of laser to…
I have a birthmark over the eye and it’s black and hairy. Can it be removed?
Birthmark
Apr 28, 2020
This is likely a melanocytic nevus or nevus of Ota. If you haven’t already, you should get a full eye exam as this can sometimes affect the inside of the eye.
These birthmarks can be lightened with dermal lasers, but hard to completely remove. Usually, with a series of laser treatments, this can be lightened enough to be covered by makeup. You should be careful because aggressive laser can also cause hypo–pigmentation or light spots.
Could I possibly find an eye cream that will help solve my problem?
Eye bags
Apr 21, 2020
Unfortunately, eye creams and laser are less useful because you already have young skin, healthy skin. Your problem is deeper.
The creases are normal due to the muscle around your eye that helps you blink. You can reduce the appearance of these lines with a small amount of Botox to relax the muscles. Also, filler to the cheekbones will also help soften and fill the undereyes. Best of luck!
Would you recommend Kybella for my armpit area?
Kybella
Apr 21, 2020
Technically, that area is called “bra fat”. From your photos, you look like you would be a great candidate for it. You should realize that Kybella is only FDA approved for under the chin, so that area would be considered off label.Make sure you go to an experienced injector. You will likely need 2-3 treatment one month apart. Best of luck!
