How Long Does It Take Botox To Settle?
Botox starts to settle after 3-5 days
Its peak effect is reached after 2 weeks. The relaxing effect against wrinkles lasts about 3-6 months. (Robert Kasten, MD, Mainz Dermatologic Surgeon)
How long does it take for Botox to begin to work?
In my opinion, Botox usually starts to work in 2 to 3 days.
The maximal effect is usually seen by 10 to 14 days. It normally lasts 3 to 4 months.
Currently there are no guidelines or data to suggest a limit to how many times you can get Botox. (Bernard S. Salameh, MD, Bowling Green Physician)
Filler results will be immediate, but you may see some additional swelling-this may be more evident in the lips, taking up to 5 to 7 days to settle; botox results will take 10 to 14 days in a first time patient. I have seen some repeat patients see results from botox within 3days. (William Loutfy, MD, Albuquerque Plastic Surgeon)When does Botox start working?
Neuromodulators like Botox work by making muscles relax. Botox starts to show an effect in 3-5 days and has its maximum effect in two weeks. Xeomin is quite similar in its action. Dysport begins to show an effect within a day and its effects tend to diffuse over a larger area than Botox.
Generally I offer my patients a “touch-up” at two weeks to ensure a good effect. Typically the results last about three months. I advise that if patients like the effects, they should come in for a new treatment when the muscles between the eyes (the ones that make the frown lines) start to work again, but before they are at their full strength.
After a couple of treatments on this schedule, you can start to see longer treatment durations as the muscles atrophy slightly. (Robert S. Schmidt, MD, Richmond Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox starts to settle in 1-2 days but reaches full effect in 2 weeks
You may start to see a difference from Botox and other botulinum toxins including Dysport and Xeomin in several days, but it takes 2 weeks to achieve peak effect. It is usually helpful to follow up in 2 weeks for a touch up, especially if you are a first time patient.
There is no limit to how many times you can get Botox and patients usually need treatment every 4-6 months since it does wear off. (Giuseppe Militello, MD, New York Dermatologist)
3 – 3 – 3
I tell my patients it follows the rule of threes:
- 3 days to start to work (often earlier though)
- 3 weeks for final effect
- 3 months to wear off (Richard D. Price, MBBS, MD, FRCS(Plast), Cambridge Plastic Surgeon)
Time for Botox to settle
For Botox to have its full effect, you normally have to wait around 2 weeks. As you rightly say, the effects last about 3 to 4 months.
There is no recommended limit on how long one can keep getting Botox, so you can keep having injections indefinitely. (Adam Sierakowski, MBBS, FRCS(Plast), Chelmsford Plastic Surgeon)
Botox effects take 1 – 2 weeks
Botulinum toxin (Botox Cosmetic, Xeomin, Dysport) is a medication injected in or near a muscle to stop signal transmission from the nearby nerves.
So it makes sense that the effect is not immediate. It takes about 90 minutes for the medication to be taken up by the target cells.
Although effects can start to be seen as early as 3 days, it takes 1 – 2 weeks to see the full efffect. That’s why I ask new toxin patients to return for follow up at 2 – 3 weeks after treatment for evaluation.
Prior to that adding additonal toxin may be unnecessary or even lead to too much injected. (Heidi A. Waldorf, MD, New York Dermatologist)
Botox onset of action
You will start to see the Botox working anywhere between 2 and 7 days after injection. The full effect of the Botox will be seen at about 2 weeks. Keep in mind that each patient’s response is a little different (Laurene DiPasquale, MD, Westwood Physician)
Botox Works by 4 Days After Treatment
Botox results can often be seen about four days after injections, with full benefits being visible after two weeks. Patients can return after four weeks for additional treatment. There is no determined age in which people should stop getting Botox- as long as you wish to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, you can continue receiving Botox treatments. (Andre Berger, MD, Beverly Hills Physician)
When does botox start to work
Botox usually takes about 4 days to work. At 10 to 14 days you should see the results and if not, that is the time to call your practitioner. It will gradually wear off, and is usually gone by 3 to 4 months.
People who are very active, (in the gym twice a day) and those with lots of facial expression tend to wear off faster. (Jeffrey J. Roth, MD, FACS, Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon)
Botox results typically visible in 1 week
Botox results can be visible within several days depending on the area treated. Definitive results are usually seen in 1 week which is when I tell my patients it will look just right.
We often see our 1st time patients within 10 days post treatment to ensure that the results are perfect and determine if any minor adjustments are needed. (Andrei Metelitsa, MD, FRCPC, FAAD, Calgary Dermatologic Surgeon)
Typical results are seen seen within the first week after the botox settle. However manufacture guidelines state that results can take up to 14 days to see full effect. There is no current limit set on how long someone can get Botox. (Sylvie H. Paroski, MD, Flower Mound OB/GYN)
How long does it take to see results after Botox injection?
Every patient is different but most patients will start seeing some results 72 hours after injection although it can take 7-14 days to see the complete result. I always encourage my patients to followup with me 14 days after treatment so that I can make sure everything looks good and that no “touch up” is needed. (Shaun Patel, MD, Miami Physician)
Generally people start to see results within 1-2 days after their treatment and it can take from 10-14 days for full result to be visble. The effects will last up to 4 months. If you have regular treatments the effects may last longer.
There is no limit or timeframe for how long you can continue to undergo anti-wrinkle treatments. It is a safe and effective means of reducing wrinkles. (Eddy Dona, MBBS, FRACS, Sydney Plastic Surgeon)
Botox treatment timeline
The effects of Botox usually begin to be noticeable between 4-7 days, with peak effect seen at 14 days.
It is for this reason that many practitioners (including myself) like to follow up 2 weeks after a treatment to ensure that an optimal result has been obtained.
Of note ‘static’ lines (those that are in the skin at rest) will continue to improve long after this time, as the body is able to remodel and replace proteins in the skin – meaning that in some situations skin continues to improve for some time following the initial 2 week period. (Scott Ellis, MBBS, Adelaide Physician)
Every 3-4 months
There is no actual limit, but sometimes people become “immune” to it and need a holiday. You should see results in 1-2 weeks. (Samer Muala, MD, Phoenix Family Physician)
Botox time to onset
Generally, I see the effects beginning to occur in 5-7 days for Botox and 3-5 days for Dysport. The neurotoxin injections should last 3-6 months. If it lasts less than 3 months, it may be appropriate to increase the dose the next time one is injected.
I teach courses in Botox and neurotoxin injections. I recommend to the health professionals, that after a patient is having Botox for the first time, they return after 2 weeks to assess the effect and decide if the dose was right or additional injection is needed. (Samuel Shatkin, Jr., MD, Buffalo Plastic Surgeon)
