How Long Does Botox Take To Work On Frown Lines?

You need to wait one full week before assessing effect of injection. If only the 11 muscles were treated and you keep trying to frown, you can recruit other forehead muscles into “frowning”.

Best to reassess in one week and not overly try to frown once you see that the injections are working. (Susan F. Lin, MD, San Mateo OB-GYN)

Injection into glabella and still move forehead

Injection of Botox into the glabellar complex is to approve the frown line and not the forehead wrinkles. to treat the forehead the injections must be made into the frontalis muscle. (Melvin Elson, MD, Nashville Dermatologist)

Please keep in mind that Botox will start working a couple of days after treatment and that you will see your final result in 2 weeks. (Christian N. Ford, M.D., Boston Physician)

Botox Can Only Work On Expression Lines That Are Controlled By Muscles

Botox and duration of effect

This is a normal result. Botox takes 10-14 days to see results. If you do not see any results after two weeks you should return to your treating dermatologist for additional Botox. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)

Most patients start seeing some effect at 72 hours after their treatment but it can take 7-14 days to see the full results of the Botox injections. Give it some time.

If in 2 weeks, you are not happy with your results, then I would followup with your treating physician. (Shaun Patel, MD, Miami Physician)

Botox does not work immediately

The effect of Botox usually takes a few days to show. Most patients will notice some difference at about 4-5 days. It may take up to 2 weeks to see the results. It is usual to be reviewed after 2 weeks to ensure the desired effect is achieved. (Reza Nassab, FRCS (Plast), Manchester Plastic Surgeon)

11’s still moving 24 hours after Botox

One doesn’t see the full result from Botox until 7-10 days after injection. Although you received “3 shots”, that doesn’t tell me how many units you received. I generally use 10-12 units, with careful targeting of the corrugator muscle bellies.

I perform touch ups at 2 weeks, if necessary, at no charge. (Wendell G. Miles, MD, Chevy Chase Plastic Surgeon)

It takes about 2-5 days to see the Botox kick in. A full 7-10 days for final results. If you still have more movement than you desire, go back to your provider and discuss. Keep in mind that a very strong glabella can’t be entirely stopped from moving. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Botox Is Not A Wrinkle Remover

It takes 3-7 days to see the full effects of the botox. In addition, 3 injections to the 11s will just treat those muscles. If you want to take care of wrinkles in the forehead, they must also be injected. (Aaron Shiloh, MD, Philadelphia Physician)

Botox can take up to 10 – 14 days for full effect. The effect starting just a few days after the injections. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)

It can take up to 10 days to two weeks to see full effect of Botox although you might see a big change by a week, not three days. If you want fast action, use Xeomin. (Jo Herzog, MD, Birmingham Dermatologist)

It generally takes between 3 days to a week to see the full effect of your botox treatment. I recommend to wait a little longer. All patients are different and some require more botox than others. (Arnold Almonte, DO, Roseville Plastic Surgeon)

Stop Muscles Contracting

it takes a few days (3-7 on average) before Botox starts to work , then improves daily over the next 2 weeks for full effects . Secondly if it was used to treat your 11s, that is known as your glabellar area.

The Botox should limit your ability to frown and the movement of this muscle group. Your forehead ( frontalis) muscle has not been treated and you will still be able to wrinkle your forehead ( lifting your eyebrows upward and the horizontal forehead creases). (Drew Varano, MD, Washington DC Physician)

It can take 3-7 days to see the onset of the results of Botox injection and up to 2 weeks for the full results. (James Silberzweig, MD, New York Radiologist)

Generally you will see some relaxing of the muscles injected within a few days, but maximal result can take up to 3 weeks. This is the same for all the wrinkle blocking neuromodulators such as botox, xeomin, dysport etc.

The Purified Form Of A Plant Bacterium Called Botulinum Toxin Type A

Don’t be frustrated, and the 11’s is one of the most popular areas to receive injections as it works so well in that area.

The forehead has to be treated separately to reduce the horizontal forehead lines. (John R. Burroughs, MD, Colorado Springs Oculoplastic Surgeon)

It takes 3-10 days for Botox to work. You need to give Botox a 2 weeks to see the full effect. (Linda Kelley, MD, Roswell Physician)

It takes about 3 to 5 days for Botox to begin to work and about 2 weeks after the injection you will likely see the actual effects. It should be relatively calm in your 11’s by then. (Aldo Guerra, MD, Scottsdale Plastic Surgeon)

Movement after Botox

As with many aesthetic procedures there are a lot of myths that patients hear that simply are not medically feasible. Fast acting Botox is one of them. When you are injected with either Botox or Disport the medication travels to the end of a motor nerve and blocks the motion of a chemical responsible to stimulate another nerve going to a muscle which would normally then contract and move.

Botox and Disport prevent this stimulation and thus your muscle can’t move for about 3-4 months. The effects takes up to 14 days to really set. Most patients sense a change in the ability to move certain muscles in about 3 days ( in your case the muscles between your brows) and that gets even more profound at day 6 and by day 14 completely set.

So you are perfectly normal to not see any effect in a day. I would give it a good week and se the results I’m fairly sure you will be pleased. (Glenn Messina, MD, Commack Physician)

Effects of Botox

Botox works by inducing chemical denervation of the injected muscles, typically within one to two days after injection, increasing in intensity during the first week. You should see further improvement throughout the coming days. (Pedro M. Soler, Jr., MD, Tampa Plastic Surgeon)
