Can this raised mole on my lip be removed easily without scarring?
Mole excision
Jun 16, 2020
Hello - any plastic surgery procedure that requires cutting on the face will result in a scar. The goal is to create a scar that is as minimally visible as possible. For your mole, complete removal would require removing a small sliver of skin and the mole, then meticulously closing the incision with stitches the bring the skin edges together. If the resultant scar is not aesthetically pleasing, methods like micro needling, laser resurfacing and chemical peels can be used to treat the scar...
What’s causing my hereditary under eye circles at 29-years old?
Lower eyelid bags/circles
Jun 16, 2020
Hello - from your photos it appears as if you have some fat bulging through the skin creating the visible protrusions or "bags" under your eyes. Additionally, there is some darker pigment below those bags that creates a distinct shadowing under the eye. The combination of the two is what is creating the appearance you speak of. Options for treatment include chemical peels and IPL treatments for the pigment, filler injections into the tear trough to camouflage the fat protrusions, or surgical...
Persistent issues after two rhinoplasties—what can be done (if anything) to correct these problem
Revision Rhinoplasty
May 21, 2020
Hello and thank you for your question. While an in-person exam would be best for diagnosing issues with your nose, based off your photos it appears that you have what's called an inverted V deformity. This is where the cartilage in the middle third of your nose collapses inwards and leaves a gap between your nasal bones and the cartilage. This is corrected with revision rhinoplasty that utilizes cartilage grafting to support the middle third of your nose, which would also likely improve your...
Opinions about near future rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty results
Jul 31, 2019
Hello - without seeing the rest of your nose and the different views in photos, it is difficult to make a definite assessment. I would say that based off your profile view, your goals are likely achievable, but that it is still important to be evaluated by an expert in nasal surgery, like a facial plastic surgeon. Best of luck

Will my sinus be in the way of me getting a nose job?
Sinuses and nasal surgery
Jul 31, 2019
Hello - your sinuses will be unaffected by the rhinoplasty procedure. The sneezing reflex is a natural occurrence, and surgery should not affect that. Sneezing after a rhinoplasty happens, and your surgeon can discuss with you ways to deal with this. Best of luck

Can you advise on a mole on side of my face that is getting pretty big?
Growth on face
Jul 31, 2019
Hello - I would recommend seeing an expert in the facial skin like a dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon. They could discuss with you the likely diagnosis and make a recommendation regarding removal of the growth. Best of luck

Can swelling cause a nose to look crooked?
Post-rhinoplasty
Jul 18, 2019
Hello - swelling can persist for up to one year after rhinoplasty, sometimes longer in thicker skinned patients. Having varying amount of swelling between the two sides of the nose can also make the nose appear asymmetric after surgery. I would discuss with your surgeon any concerns you may have regarding your recovery. Best of luck

Why is my nose different at left and right angles?
Nasal assymetries
Jul 18, 2019
Hello - everyone has asymmetries between the two sides of the face, especially the nose. Subtle differences in how the cartilage is structured under the skin between the two sides will result in different appearing shapes on the various views of the nose. Along those lines, deviation of the septum maybe pushing the cartilage to one side versus the other, which again will create the subtle difference between the two sides. Hope this helps

What do I need done for rhinoplasty, open or closed? Am I a lip lift candidate?
Rhinoplasty versus Septoplasty
Jul 18, 2019
Hello - a rhinoplasty could be helpful to contour the nose to a more desirable aesthetic. Taking down the hump on the bridge, narrowing and triangulating the tip would both create a nice shape that fits your face. Regarding the lip lift, it could be performed at the same time as the rhinoplasty, and would allow more of your red lip to be seen. Discussing all these options with your surgeon is your best bet, best of luck!

I just want cosmetic improvements. Septoplasty vs Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty versus Septoplasty
Jul 16, 2019
Hello - while its true that your septum may be deviated and causing some of the external crookedness, a traditional septoplasty surgery will not correct the external appearance of the nose. A rhinoplasty procedure will address both the crooked nose and likely deviated septum, and provide you the cosmetic improvement you are looking for. Best of luck!

What should I fix to achieve a more feminine/refined nose through rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty for a more refined nose
Jul 16, 2019
Hello - the upper ⅓ of your nose where your nasal bones are seems to be an appropriate width, but as you travel down the bridge of your nose the width becomes wider in the middle and lower parts of the nose. Rhinoplasty with focus on narrowing the tip would refine the nose to provide a more feminine shape. Best of luck
Dr. Singleton
Would my nasal bone need to be broken to correct my deviated septum and for slight cosmetic enhan
Rhinoplasty
Jul 16, 2019
Hello - the nasal bones would need be reposition via osteotomies in order to straighten the bridge of the nose, so the answer to your question is yes. The middle ⅓ of your nose is concave on the left side as well, so small grafts of cartilage would be used to fill in that area, in addition to straighten out that segment. Finally, the lower ⅓ or tip region could be addressed to create a more triangulated tip (as seen from the base or bottom view, photo 1) instead of the wid...
How necessary is it to sleep on my back while upright after rhinoplasty? Would keeping my splint
Post-rhinoplasty care
Jul 16, 2019
Hello - sleeping upright on your back is best after rhinoplasty because it minimizes the risk of applying pressure to the nose after surgery. This also prevents swelling from accumulating around the nose and will help improve healing. How long the cast is applied to the nose after surgery is dependent upon the surgery, but in my practice splints and casts are removed about 1 week post-op. Good luck!

Post co2 breakout or scarring? can’t tell.
Post laser care
May 17, 2019
Hello - Im sorry that you're having some difficulty. While I do believe that it is way too soon to begin thinking about scarring, it is more than likely that your skin is reacting to the post-laser topical ointment you are using resulting in a dermatitis, or a post-laser breakout is occurring. Regardless, I would contact your provider to be seen so you can have your skin evaluated in person and all your questions answered.

What is the best cosmetic fix for my weak dimpled chin? I’ve never had a “normal”, smooth chin, a
Chin Augmentation
May 14, 2019
Hello - to help with the dimpling, Botox or Dysport can be used to soften the muscles in the chin, resulting in a smoother contour. On the side view you can see that your chin is recessed, and filler can be placed to move the outline of the chin forward, giving you a stronger chin. Botox and filler is temporary however, and a chin implant would likely be a better long term investment once you're ready for that. Chin implantation can be done in the office under local anesthesia and takes...
