24 y/o, and 6 weeks post upper bleph. Unhappy with results. Would ptosis repair help open my eyes? Pic
Eyelid surgery in the young patient.
Feb 3, 2019
Blepharoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the eyelids. The most common reason to have this surgery is excess skin, which is usually seen in older patients. As a younger patient, it is important to be conservative when removing skin. If too much skin is removed, then you won’t be able to close your eyes, which will cause multiple eye problems.  Ptosis surgery for a drooping eyelid is a condition seen in all age groups young and old. It may be performed on one eye or both. These cond…
How realistic is it to have my nose look like the following examples ?
Rhinoplasty and photos of your ideal noses.
Feb 3, 2019
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance.I do encourage my patients to bring in photos of noses they like. It can give your surgeon a good ideal of your goals. I will let them know if the features they like are appropriate for their nose. I tell them that putting another person’s nose on their face is not as good as improving the nose they have. It’s important to keep within natural limits. I like to use computer simulation to show them a…
Can I get a rhinoplasty to fix the tip of my nose after I’ve had a non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty surgery after non-surgical rhinoplasty
Feb 3, 2019
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance.Non-surgical or liquid rhinoplasty is when a filler is injected into the nose to change the shape. This is an important detail to tell your surgeon. They may want you to wait until the filler dissolves for a safe and precise surgery. Safety comes first.
Is it possible to change nostril shape without having revision surgery?
Recovering from rhinoplasty & evaluating your result.
Feb 3, 2019
Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process that takes more time that other surgeries on the face.Waiting for swelling to go down is a big part of the healing process. The swelling can come down in an uneven fashion, making the nose appear asymmetric or even curved. I encourage you to bring these issues up with your surgeon so they can follow you as you heal. It’s important to keep your follow-up appointments with your surgeon so they can keep you on track for a safe and happy result. S…
Am I being too picky about rhinoplasty outcome?
Rhinoplasty: evaluating your outcome

Would bringing down the tip be an easy fix? How would this be done?
Revision Rhinoplasty: bringing the tip of the nose down
Feb 3, 2019
Revision rhinoplasty is a complex surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance after a previous nose surgery. Bringing the tip down or “counter rotation” requires strong downward support, usually in the form of a cartilage graft. This will make the nose stiffer. A separate technique is required to address the nostrils. I would consult with a surgeon who is familiar with these important issues for a safe and happy result. Safety come first.
What would be the best procedure for the saggy skin on my eyelid? Tried 1 bout of Plasmalift already..
Improving saggy eyelid skin
Feb 3, 2019
Saggy eyelid skin may be addressed with many different techniques. Without surgery, the change is very subtle. Blepharoplasty is a surgery to address the excess skin. Some patients may need a brow lift, if the eyebrows are hanging low and there is only a little extra skin. I would consult with a plastic surgeon who focuses on the face or specifically the eyelids for safe and happy outcomes. Safety comes first. *Makes sure to bring up issues like dry eyes or laser surgery.
Is my nose pinched and over-resected? How to fix it?
Rhinoplasty: structure vs reductive.
Feb 3, 2019
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of your nose for breathing or appearance. A reductive rhinoplasty is one in which bumps and extra tissue is removed to make the nose smaller. If the nose is over-reduced, tissue (cartilage) needs to be added to create support and shape, this is called a structure rhinoplasty. With additional support, pinching and collapsing may be avoided for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
I have sleep apnea. The gasping kind. Could I still be a candidate for a Lower Face Lift?
Sleep Apnea and anesthesia for facelift
Feb 3, 2019
Sleep apnea is a medical condition in which a persons has pauses in their breathing while they are asleep. This is a condition that should be brought up with the anesthesiologist, the doctor who will be monitoring you during surgery. Severe cases of sleep apnea require extra precautions. I would discuss this with your surgeon for any procedure along with the anesthesiologist for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
Over the years my nose doesn’t have that little point anymore – what can be done?
Rhinoplasty: closed vs open approach
Feb 3, 2019
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance. Closed or endonasal approach means all the cuts are inside the nostrils. An open or external approach means there is a cut on the bridge of skin between your nostrils (columella). I would have a discussion with your surgeon regarding the incision they will use prior to your surgery, so you know what to expect. Both approaches are reasonable for a safe and happy result.
How to get rid of excessive forehead skin at 19 without Botox or surgery?
Young patient and forehead skin
Oct 30, 2018
For my younger patients (teens to early 20s), I like to talk to them about sun protection and skin care. I have them wait as long as they can before pursuing injectables or surgery for a safe and happy outcome.
Rhinoplasty. Would I need cartilage taken from another part of my body?
African American Rhinoplasty and cartilage grafts
Oct 30, 2018
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance. In patients who have thicker skin (Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian), cartilage grafts are added to stretch the skin to create definition. I like to borrow cartilage from the rib to achieve this outcome. Again, due to thicker skin, the swelling may take many months to settle down. I would talk to a rhinoplasty who understand these “thick skin” concepts for a safe and happy outcome. Safety comes first.
Do you place drains after a full facelift?
Recovering from Face Surgery and drains
Oct 30, 2018
Recovering from surgery is a healing process. Drains may be a part of your aftercare. They may stay in place for a day or over a week.Drains have been not been proven to stop a hematoma (blood collection) from forming; however, they may help reduce overall bruising and swelling. Individual surgeons may choose to use them to improve the patient’s outcome. Others may use pressure dressings or other techniques. Safety comes first.
Is it safe to use a breath right nasal strip 7 months after a septoplasty/turbinoplasty/rhinoplasty?
Recovering from nose surgery: Breathe Right Strips
Oct 30, 2018
Recovering from nose surgery is a healing process. It does take months for the swelling to come down so you can see your result. Swelling on the outside is indicative of swelling on the inside of your nose, which would affecting your breathing.Breathe Right Strips and other devices may be helpful; however, it is best to talk to your surgeon before starting anything new for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
Do Botox injections contain sulfa?
Botox and Sulfa
Oct 30, 2018
Botox is a medication injected to selectively and temporarily weaken target muscles for softer lines and wrinkles. Sulfa is not a listed additive. Allergies should be taken seriously. If you have had significant allergic reactions, I would have a long discussion before trying any new medications for a safe and happy outcome. Safety comes first.
