Hi Barb in Omaha,Our office usually recommends using Latisse at night. The theory is that the product would migrate to your lower lashes. We also do advise our patients to cleanse their face in the morning with a non-comedogenic cleanser just to make sure the product does not sit on your skin throughout the day. Hello, yes generally acne surgery for the treatment of active acne is covered by most insurance plans. That being said, to avoid surprises it would be a good idea to double check with your insurance company to see if there will be any cost to you (deductible, copayment, etc). Now, if the procedure is for treatment of acne scars or pigment left over from previous acne, this is considered a cosmetic procedure and insurance does not cover this.

Aldactone and oral contraception are very nice treatments for hormonal acne in women. They are safe for use together. Sometimes, some patients’ potassium level can be raised by Aldactone and by certain oral birth controls, and your physician may recommend a blood test depending on your personal history and which birth control you are using. I recommend following up with your dermatologist if you are concerned.

Accutane can make you more sensitive to the sun. In my practice we recommend SPF 30 or more for daily use. This is especially important when you know you will have sun exposure or when you are on medications that can make you more susceptible to burn.
