What product should I use in my lips? Juvederm, Restylane, Stylage?
Lip Filler
Jul 7, 2016
Hyaluronic fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are used in the lips.  A calcium based filler such as Radiesse should be avoided in the lips.
Best method for cheek augmentation?
Cheek Augmentation
Jul 7, 2016
Not quite a "best" option, as treatments are always individualized to a particular patient.  Options, as you mentioned, include implants, fat grafting, and filler.  Commonly used fillers in the malar (cheek) area include Radiesse and Voluma.  Voluma in particular is indicated for malar augmentation.  Hope this is helpful.  Best wishes.
Is it better not to wear any makeup to a first consultation for an upper and lower Blepharoplasty?
Makeup
Jul 7, 2016
Ok to wear makeup while coming to the office; makeup is then removed in the office prior to the consultation (and then ok to re-apply, in the office, prior to departure).  Preferable to have the makeup off during the consultation to capture exactly what the concerns are.Hope this is helpful.  Best wishes.Regards,Dr. Shah
Which procedure will I need to fix my nose?
Rhinoplasty
May 13, 2016
Dear Dianne:  review of photos suggests a "pinched" tip as well as asymmetry.  The procedure may entail use of grafts.  Graft sources include the nasal septum as well as conchal (ear) cartilage.  The patient's own tissue is preferable as a graft source. If you like, please follow the link below.  The article on Nasal Analysis contains useful diagrams that may further answer your questions.  Best wishes.
Can I get rhinoplasty on just the tip of my nose? I don't want to go through having my bones broken &
Tip Rhinoplasty
May 13, 2016
Dear Lilly:Thank you for your question.  As always, the definitive answer rests with an in-person examination.  An isolated tip plasty is not an unreasonable request.  At time, though, please note that the upper portion of the nose (upper 1/3) may require narrowing to "match" the modified tip.  These determinations are made after your exam and consultation in the office. If you like, please follow the link below.  The article on Nasal Analysis contains useful diagrams that may help guide your...
How drastic would changes be if I got a rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty Changes
May 6, 2016
Hello.  This is a reasonable question.  My recommendation is to consult with the surgeon, and then carefully inspect his before and after photos.  This will give you a sense of what changes are realistic.  In the meantime, if you like, please follow the link below.  The article on Nasal Analysis contains useful diagrams that may help guide your discussion with your surgeon.Best wishes.  Dr. Shah.
How can I get rid of these under eye "bags" when I smile?
Eye Bags
May 6, 2016
Hi Christian.  Thank you for your email.  Please understand that the definitive answer rests with an in-person consultation and examination.  If smiling is precipitating a specific line around the eye complex, then Botox may be an option.  By relaxing the underlying musculature, Botox may "smooth" the overlying lines.Hope this is helpful.  Best wishes.
What combination of filler/botox do I need to look less tired and achieve better facial symmetry? (Ph
Botox and Filler
May 6, 2016
Hello.  Thank you for your question. These things are a bit tricky to explain across a computer screen.  Hopefully this will be helpful.  The general algorithm is that Botox is effective in the “upper ⅓” of the face: forehead lines, crow’s feet, and lines between the eyebrows. These lines are “dynamic” lines, caused by underlying muscle contractions. By relaxing the associated muscles, Botox smoothens the upper ⅓ of the face.“Static” lines in the lower face, such as the nasolabial folds...
Raising the tip of my nose and getting my nostrils reduced. Should I fix my deviated septum?
Deviated Septum
Apr 19, 2016
Hi there.  If the septum is causing airway obstruction, it may be worthwhile to repair at the time of the rhinoplasty.  The two procedures, although separate, are often combined ("septo-rhinoplasty").  If you like, please follow the link below.  The article on Septoplasty contains useful diagrams that may help guide your conversation with your surgeon.Best wishes.
How can I get rid of terrible bags under my eyes?
Blepharoplasty
Apr 11, 2016
Dear Mr. Jefferson:  It would appear that the fat pads in the lower eyelids have prolapsed forward.  This may be amenable to lower lid blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). The trans-conjunctival approach to cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty is very favorable. Instead of approaching the fat pads from the outside (trans-cutaneous blepharoplasty) the dissection is actually performed from behind, within the eyelid. The trans-conjunctival blepharoplasty is usually combined with an external skin...
Botox for crows feet?
Botox for Crow's Feet
Apr 11, 2016
Botox is a very popular cosmetic intervention. Botox works to prevent facial lines and wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. Technique is critical, and must be tailored to the individual patient. Botox is effective in the upper ⅓ of the face: the “crow’s feet” around the eyes, forehead lines, and the vertical furrows between the eyebrows. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes.
Recommended procedures for uneven eyebrow/eyelids?
Uneven Eyebrows
Apr 5, 2016
Hello.  One more conservative option to "even" the brows is Botox.  A more formal option is surgical browlift.
I don't like my profile. Especially when I smile. What are my options?
Hump reduction
Apr 5, 2016
A hump reduction (known a bit more formally as a dorsal hump reduction) is a commonly requested rhinoplasty maneuver.  If the hump is the main area of concern, it may be possible to accomplish the procedure via a "closed" rhinoplasty approach (all the incisions within the nose).  If you like, please follow the link below.  The article on Nasal Analysis contains useful diagrams that may help guide your decision making process.  Hope this helps.  Best wishes.  Dr. Shah.
Is Tip Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
Tip Plasty
Mar 24, 2016
Dear LM:  Tip rhinoplasty to address a wide nasal tip is a common request. Most likely, an “open rhinoplasty” (where the soft tissues are gently elevated to allow direct access to the tip cartilages) will be required. These tip cartilages are then sculpted and sutured to refine the nasal tip. If you like, please follow the link below. The article on Nasal Analysis contains many diagrams that you may find helpful. This may help guide your conversation with your surgeon.Hope this is...
I'm 40 and considering Transconjunctival Bleph on my Lower lids and have a few concerns.
Trans-Conj Lower Lid Bleph
Mar 24, 2016
Your questions are appropriate; please understand that the definitive answer rests with an in-person consultation and examination.  Overall, the trans-conjunctival approach to cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty is very favorable. As you are probably aware, instead of approaching the fat pads from the outside (trans-cutaneous blepharoplasty) the dissection is actually performed from behind, within the eyelid. The trans-conjunctival blepharoplasty is usually combined with an external skin...
