Answer Snippet
I had Voluma put in my cheeks I’m very bruised, can I take Motrin for the swelling?
Motrin for swelling
Sep 13, 2018
Ice packs and Tylenol are usually better choices after a procedure as Motrin can worsen bleeding and bruising.
Treatment options for vertical lines on pink part of lips?
Vertical lip line correction
Sep 13, 2018
Lines on the red part of the lip are due to volume loss with aging and sun exposure.  Fillers such as Juvederm Volbella can replace the lost volume and restore the natural shape and beauty of the lips.
Can Dysport be reversed or dissolved by some kind of injections?
Reversing Dysport
Sep 7, 2018
Unfortunately Dysport cannot be reversed or dissolved but will have to be given time to “wear off”.
I have a headache 1 week after Dysport forehead injections. Is this normal and when can I
Headaches after Dysport
Sep 7, 2018
Some people report headaches after treatment with Botox or Dysport for a few days afterwards.  It is unclear why this happens and many patients report improvement in migraine or tension headaches with Botox.  If the headaches persist, you should follow-up with your provider.
I got my mole removed on my right breast about 1 month ago. It grew back very raised and v
Mole removal
Sep 5, 2018
Moles that are removed and made flush with the skin using a “shave” technique can grow back and re-pigment since part of the mole is still left underneath the skin.  It can be shaved again without harm.  The pigment can sometimes be treated with liquid nitrogen as well.

Is it OK to take a long flight immediately after a fully ablative laser for acne scars?
Traveling after ablative laser treatment
Sep 5, 2018
Please discuss this with your treating provider, but I would recommend against any sort of travel for at least a week after a fully ablative laser treatment.  The skin will need to be protected and proper wound care will need to be performed in order to avoid any complications.
Could a single night of drinking undo all the progress I was making with my Rosacea?
Rosacea and alcohol
Aug 21, 2018
Alcohol is a well-known trigger factor for rosacea and many patients are advised to limit its use. However, one night of drinking should have only temporary effects on the skin.
Would it be safe to use V Beam to reduce redness 6 weeks after traditional CO2 laser?
Vbeam after CO2
Aug 21, 2018
Yes, it would be safe to use the Vbeam laser that soon after a CO2 laser treatment.  However, it is difficult to predict how well the Vbeam would work as often the redness is from deeper areas of the dermis that the laser cannot reach.
V Beam laser or low dose isotretinoin? I've been recommended Pulsed Dye Laser for my rosac
VBeam and Isotretinoin
Mar 1, 2018
Using the purpuric (bruising) setting on a pulsed dye laser will typically result in faster clearance of redness and blood vessels.  However, this eggplant purple-type bruising can often last 10 to 14 days, making it unacceptable for most patients to have that much social downtime.  It is difficult to predict how many purpuric sessions would be equivalent to non-purpuric settings, but half is probably a good estimate.

It’s been 7-8 months since I’ve been off Accutane and I’m dying for a tattoo. Is it safe n
Tattoo post accutane
Feb 28, 2018
Tattoos and other cosmetic procedures are considered to be safe 6 months or longer after a course of Accutane.  There is ample evidence that most lasers and cosmetic procedures are safe even immediately after  a course of therapy, except for aggressive, fully-ablative types of skin resurfacing, but certainly by 6 months you are safe.

Can I massage my chin to drain the fluid from my Kybella injections? 4 days post op.
Post Kybella swelling
Feb 27, 2018
Swelling after treatment with Kybella is normal, expected, and actually desired.  The swelling simply indicates that the fat cells were destroyed and the body is getting rid of them.  You should just let it run it’s course, but ice packs and ibuprofen can help to lessen any discomfort.  I would not recommend using a Clarisonic or any manual massage in an attempt to speed up the process.
If I have bruising and swelling in my nasolabial folds after Juvederm, how long should I w
Work outs post filler treatments
Feb 13, 2018
You should wait at least 48 hours prior to any intense physical activity that raises your heart rate or blood pressure.  Bleeding after Juvederm injections is typically short-lived, but you should always consult your injecting provider after the procedure if you have a significant bruise, continued bleeding, pain or other symptoms.

Juvederm for vertical lip lines: how long should I expect to take off work?
Down time with Juvederm
Feb 7, 2018
There is usually little to no down-time with Juvederm.  It is always possible to get a bruise after treatment, but bruises can be minimized by using ice packs after the procedure and can be covered up with make-up.

One of the bests treatments for vertical lip lines is Juvederm Volbella, a long-lasting, natural-looking lip filler that helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines around the mouth.

Can Botox be used to lessen severe marionette or nose to mouth lines?I look so miserable b
Botox and marionette lines
Jan 31, 2018
Botox is used to treat lines that show up when muscles contract, such as the forehead, crows’ feet, and frown lines.  Fillers, such as Juvederm, are used to treat lines that are present at rest.  This usually includes areas such as the marionette lines, nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines), and the lower face.  It sounds as if you would be a candidate for fillers like Juvederm in the lower face.
When can I get Botox after receiving a CO2 laser treatment ?
Botox and CO2 laser treatment
Jan 29, 2018
Wait until the skin is fully healed, usually 1 to 2 weeks after a CO2 laser treatment, depending on if it was fractional or fully ablative.  After that, there should be no reason to wait unless there was a complication from the laser, such as an infection.
