“I have always been interested in the surgery side of medicine, because I love using my hands. So when I was a resident, I focused on skin cancer surgery,” says Dr. Reichel. “In the field of dermatology, skin cancer surgeons are also trained in cosmetic procedures. I honestly did not know that I was interested [in cosmetic dermatology] until we had a younger female patient come in for Botox treatment for the frown lines between the eyebrows. She had never had it before—this was 2003—but explained that people at work always thought she was angry. We did the treatment, and when she returned two months later, she cried as she described how her life had truly changed.”

Further motivating Dr. Reichel to pursue a path in cosmetic and surgical dermatology was her desire to develop lasting relationships with her patients versus treating them once and never again.

“This connection, this taking care of them over the years—this is what I love,” she says. “In the field of cosmetic and surgical dermatology, I am able to complete procedures, be artistic, and use my hands. But more importantly, I have an ongoing relationship with my patients. I get to touch their lives in a positive way.”

Dr. Reichel believes that all procedures should be looked at from a medical approach versus a “spa”-like approach. “Every time I use a needle, or pass a laser over a face, I am doing a medical procedure,” she says. “It is to be taken seriously and to be done with diligence and care.” She respects all risks and safety concerns while offering the best state-of-the-art medicine.

Hi. I love that you asked this question so that I can answer and hopefully have other patients read it and become less worried about their botox injections.
Botox acts at the nerve/muscle junction. It binds to a receptor and stops the nerve from talking to the muscle. It is always temporary. The amount of time the botox protein is bound to the receptor varies from patient to patient but usually lasts 2 to 4 months.

Hi. In your photo, what I am seeing is a mild prominence of the festoon and mild/early fat pad protrusion. This can happen and some days it can look worse, and some days better. I liked the idea of trying Morpheus 8 for tightening the festoons. However, I have now done a full set of 3 treatments on 2 different patients with very little improvement.
Other tightening devices to try - Ultherapy! It may be more successful!!
I would try one other tightening device, and then I recommend filler....

Can I still get the Morpheus 8 if I took Ibuprofen a couple days before the procedure?

I recommend that patients discontinue any blood thinning medication (aspirin, ibuprofen, naprosyn etc) for 7 to 14 days before a RF needling procedure like Morpheus 8. However, it should not be a big deal if you took a few ibuprofen. You may have a slightly increased risk of bleeding/bruising but not significant enough to hold off on treatment.

Hi. Thank you for your question. Morpheus 8 CAN be used for acne scarring. For this condition, it is done for RESURFACING, not really for lifting and tightening. You need to go to a physician that know what he/she is doing. If you have a non-physician doing your treatment (which is common), make sure that the person works DIRECTLY under a physician. Because you are right, if the device is not used correctly, you can get fat loss and/or grid marks.

Hi. Sculptra acts as a scaffolding/activator for your tissues to produce more collagen, elastin, and other factors that make the skin thicker and more supple. It takes a couple of months for this to happen after the injections. So, I think it should be safe for you to do other treatments and to start your at home decives 2 months after your last Sculptra treatment!!

Hi. From the photos, I would recommend a resurfacing procedure or series of procedures. My favorite resurfacing lasers for you are Halo and Fraxel. Both of these devices use a "rolling" technology, rather than a "stamp". The paintbrush style of these lasers won't leave small squares or dots on your skin like other resurfacing lasers. Hi. My recommendation to fix the indentation caused by your fall is a fat transfer. I have had really good success with this in previous patients. I usually take ("harvest") the fat from the abdomen (best fat for transfers).
With my fat transfers, I will do the first transfer at the time of the fat harvest. This is when there are the most live fat cells for a true graft. We then store the fat in a regulated freezer system to be used for as many transfers as you want in that time period....

Hi. I am happy you asked this question. Facetite is a radiofrequency device used to heat tissues to give lifting and tightening. It is done WITH liposuction (prior to the removal of the fat). It is NOT done after liposuction.

I spend a lot of time educating my patients on the use of Retinols (over the counter) and Retinoids (prescription strength tretinoin 0.025, 0.05, 0.1% and tazorac.
