Is It Better to Drain an Acne Cyst or Do a Cortisone Injection to Reduce Skin Atrophy/scarring?
Acne cyst treatment
Jan 31, 2018
A regular inflamed and infected acne cyst which is red and swollen sometimes painful is best treated with a Cortisone injection and oral anabiotic‘s if necessary. This is best done by a board-certified dermatologist. Other people are not typically trained in the nuances of these injections. If properly done they rarely cause atrophy. I can’t even remember the last time one of my patients had a problem. But the cyst itself can cause atrophy and scarring so best to treat them. If there is a d…
Post Juvederm Bruising- How Long Will It Last? Can I Speed Healing?
Speed up healing of bruising after filler
Jan 31, 2018
Bruising happens after filler fairly commonly especially if you’re on blood thinners. If it happens and it’s hard to cover with make up we always offer our patients Vbeam laser treatment to speed up the healing. In addition sometimes people feel that herbal remedies can help such as arnica. Best to talk with your physician.
What can I do to get rid of the blackheads that are pretty deep, and filling up my ears?
Treatment of blackheads
Jan 29, 2018
Blackheads are best treated  with comedolytic creams such as retin a. Over the counter versions can be helpful but are not as strong. After treatment with the creams the extractions are much easier and less painful. Best to get a consultation with a great board certified dermatologist to help.
Can Botox fix my asymmetrical eyebrows? My one eyebrow is obviously lower than the other.
Botox eyebrows and Rosacea redness
Jan 29, 2018
Botox can help even out asymmetrical eyebrows. Rosacea redness can be treated with a variety of lasers or lights or creams for redness. Best to get a consultation with a great board certified dermatologist or a second opinion of the main doctor does not do these procedures.
I used cortisone -10 cream on my face to help treat cystic acne and now my face is swollen?
Itchy rash treatments
Jan 7, 2018
Itchy rashes have many causes and if the emergency room didn’t solve it it’s time to find a great board certified dermatologist to help figure out the cause of the rash and treat it. Impossible to diagnose and recommend over Realself. Typical treatments for itchy rashes are antihistamines and prescription cortisone creams or pills. Cold milk mixed with ice water compresses can be soothing.
Need to restore volume. What’s best?
Volumiizing the face
Jan 7, 2018
As we age we lose fat and bone and muscles wither and the face falls that is just a fact of life. To revolumize the face fat injections are possible as well as sculptra or voluma or radiesse. Also skin treatments such as lasers or ultherapy to help grow collagen. It’s a losing battle but one worth fighting to stay looking as young and healthy as possible.
What to do now after hives at Botox sites?
Botox injection site reaction
Jan 5, 2018
I have perform thousands of Botox injections and I’ve never seen that particular side effect. However I do have one patient who is allergic to the preservative in the saline and so will use preservative free Saline for that particular patient. I do think you should be able to be tested to that.
Dents above eyebrows, 6 days post Botox, will this go away?
Botox eyebrows
Jan 4, 2018
Firstly 10 units of Botox to the forehead and glabella is one quarter of the fda approved dose and would not expect to give dramatic results. Secondly the dents above the eyebrows are common from injectors who are afraid to inject those muscles since they are afraid of eyelid droop. An expert injector who is a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with lots of experience is best. That’s an easily fixable problem with more Botox.
Is there a possibility that Botox can be diluted? How is it possible that it only works for a couple o
Botox dilution
Jan 4, 2018
Botox is a powder so it’s always diluted with sterile saline water. What matters is not so much the solution per se but how many units of Botox you are receiving. Botox is fda approved for 64 units to the upper face and if you are receiving a lot less that may be the problem. Also some people metabolize it faster and need it more often and some people need a year or so of frequent treatments to get the muscles to calm down and then get better longevity. Make sure you see an expert in…
What is the best way to prevent acne when you stop using benzoyl peroxide products?
Acne treatment
Jan 3, 2018
There are three over  the counter fda approved acne treatments. Benzoyl peroxide, salycilic acid and the third is differn .1 percent gel. You could try lowering the concentration of benzoyl peroxide if you’re using 10 percent you could go down to two percent and see if you can tolerate it because it is a great chemical for reducing breakouts. Also try a wash instead of a gel. Otherwise you can try a half or one percent salycilic acid instead of two percent. Otherwise get yourself to a board-…
Will Botox muscle recruitment ever go away? What can I do?
Botox forehead
Jan 3, 2018
Many people do better with injections in the glabella and the forhead together to prevent muscle recruitment. This is not always true but often is. If you’re going to have a family and cannot use Botox there’s not much to do just let it wear off it will be a few years before you can use Botox again. You have to finish with pregnancy and breast-feeding and discuss with your injector what the plan should be afterwards.
Is it normal for Juvederm to still be extremely swollen, hard, and uncomfortable after 3 days?
Juvederm lips
Jan 3, 2018
Juvederm is a very soft filler. That should not be hard. Swelling can last a day or two. If you’re having complications best to call your injector. Hopefully they are an expert injector and can handle whatever the situation is.
I am currently experiencing a severe case of acne. Can someone look at it and please help?
Acne relief
Jan 3, 2018
Acne is complicated and requires they careful consultation with a great board-certified dermatologist. If the first one did not help seek a second opinion. Pills peels lasers injections can help beyond the basic creams and gels.
I have severe forehead scarring. What will help smooth it out? I feel the dents in my forehead and the
Acne scars on forehead
Dec 24, 2017
While breast feeding I don’t think there is much to do but spend the time researching a great board certified dermatologist to help you. Botox, lasers, maybe fillers are potential treatments.
Can I use a 2% salicylic acid cleanser while also using Finacea afterwards?
Acne wash and finacea
Dec 24, 2017
Finacea can be a bit drying but most people can tolerate it. Finacea comes in a gel and foam. Salycilic acid cleanser is an exfoliant. If it’s tolerable and not too drying then great. If not then a mild cleanser is best.
