Statement: Dr. Ramandeep Sidhu is a board-certified vascular surgeon, serving the greater Seattle area with offices in Issaquah and Bellevue, Washington. The medical director of Vein, Vascular & Aesthetic Associates (VIVAA), he specializes in percutaneous aneurysm repair, endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease, treatment for varicose veins, open vascular surgical procedures, and deep vein thrombosis/pulmonary embolism treatment.

He believes in treating cosmetic concerns alongside the medical, which is why he also offers aesthetic services such as dermal fillers, chemical peels, Profound RF microneedling, and CoolSculpting, along with a variety of quick, in-office procedures to treat varicose veins and spider veins.

“Vascular surgery is the only surgical specialty that involves treating the whole body and has significant medical management, too,” says Dr. Sidhu. “I was always fascinated with the fine details involved in vascular procedures and the gratification we get from preventing someone from having a stroke, losing a leg, or dying from an aneurysm.”

Dr. Sidhu earned his medical degree from the University of Bombay (now the University of Mumbai) in India. After moving to the U.S., he completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the Jobst Vascular Center in Toledo, Ohio, followed by a residency in general surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, where he later worked as a staff physician.

A RealSelf Hall of Famer for his outstanding commitment to patient education, Dr. Sidhu prides himself on individualized patient care and providing a compassionate atmosphere, with plenty of time to answer medical questions.

Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery – Vascular, Dr. Sidhu is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, the Society of Vascular Surgery, and the Washington State Medical Association.

To target lines around my mouth are fillers best option? Laser resurfacing in combination with fill
Filler and resurfacing laser
Dec 28, 2022
Great question! Filler is a temporary fix, we highly recommend doing a skin treatment as well to stimulate your own collagen. This would include PRP micro needling or a laser treatment including the 1540 laser. This will also make the filler last longer and give optimal results. The nasolabial folds (the lines around the mouth) are due to aging and decrease of collagen from the cheek area. We focus on the cheeks to lift up those folds. Making sure you have a great sunscreen like Elta MD that...
What are these whitish lumpy things on my under eyes and how do I get rid of them?
Skin care
Nov 18, 2022
These area keratin deposits under the eye. This is due to a build up of dead skin cells being trapped under the skin. Lightly exfoliating with warm wash cloths and even using a salicylic acid or retinol can help. Wash your face twice a day with your cleanser and do not put your face moisturizer under your eyes as this can clog pores as well. Instead opt for an eye gel and use this twice a day. The skin under our eyes is way more delicate than the rest of our skin. Our normal face...
Would microneedling be beneficial for my hypertrophic breast lift scars or potentially make them wo
Microneedling
Nov 16, 2022
These are great questions! Microneedling is actually a wonderful treatment option for hypertrophic scars. What we are trying to do is remodel the scar tissue and reorganize it. This helps minimize the scar and make it less noticeable. Adding PRP (platelet rich plasma) to the microneedling optimizes results so I would highly recommend doing that to get the best outcome. Another option is Kenalog steroid injections that can be injected into the scar to flatten them.
Age 29, light skin tone, 5'6 - can you advise on cheek scar revision?
1540 Nonablative Laser, PRP Microneedling, Microneedling, Pico Facial
Nov 7, 2022
There are quite a few modalities that help with collagen remodeling and therefore improve the appearance of your scarring. 1540 Non- Ablative lasering is an excellent option and generally takes about 3-6 treatments for optimal results. PRP Microneedling and Microneedling are also great options that use controlled microinjuries to stimulate and form stronger and healthier collagen (will need 4-6 treatments). PicoSure laser is another laser that uses pressure to break up disorganized collagen...

Scar treatment
Nov 4, 2022
You can always use a pigment gel or retinol if you want topical products. Make sure to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen. Chemical peels would also be beneficial. For laser treatment we could use the PicoSure laser or the 1540 to help with the discoloration and remodel the scar to make it appear smaller and lighter.
What's the difference between the profound laser & fraction RF with microneedling? Do they treat ce
Profound, Microneedling,
Nov 1, 2022
Great question! Profound uses radiofrequency & microneedling to help stimulate collagen and elastin, both components which are crucial for improving laxity and dimpling. What makes Profound superior is that the physician/doctor performing the treatment can control the temperature of the treatment and length of time that particular temperature is applied to the collagen (up to 4 seconds). Profound treats dimples/cellulite as well as laxity.

PicoFacial, IPL, Photofacials
Oct 25, 2022
Freckles are considered sun damage, and for those who are of Asian ethnicity and have sun damage or hyperpigmentation we strongly recommend PicoSure facials! This laser is safe for all skin types and targets hyperpigmentation/ sun damage, scarring, irregular skin texture, enlarged pores and also stimulates collagen. We recommend a series of at least 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart and we do not use numbing cream but have the Zimmer (blows very cold air).
Is orbital vein removal safe?
Sclerotherapy, Face Sclerotherapy, Vein Treatment, Nd:Yag 1064
Oct 21, 2022
Facial veins are common and at our practice we have two modalities to treat facial veins. Facial veins can be treated with facial sclerotherapy or with lasers (Nd:Yag 1064), the treatment depends on the location and the size of the vein.

PicoSure
Oct 20, 2022
These are great questions! The white ink is difficult to predict how it will respond to the laser. It can oxidize and appear more yellow because white reflects the laser and does not absorb it. However there is not much white in the tattoo and the PicoSure would target all the other colors in the tattoo. We recommend starting with 6 treatments and see how much clearance of the tattoo you get. It's also great that the tattoo is on your ribcage, as tattoos near the heart respond quicker. Price...
How to get rid of untreatable PIH/melasma (eyes, forehead, jawline)?
PicoSure, PCA Chemical Peels, PCA SKincare
Oct 18, 2022
Melasma can never be permanently removed, with treatments and the correct skincare though you can suppress the melasma. The most important factor to keep melasma at bay is to avoid direct sun exposure, so make sure to wear SPF 40+ everyday and reapply every 2 hours. Others factors such as variations in hormone levels and stress can also worsen melasma. Avoid treatment such as IPL because the heat from this treatment can also worsen melasma. A good skincare regimen using the PicoSure, PCA...
Can another treatment (such as Picosure) be done in tandem with laser hair removal to get rid of PI
Laser hair removal
Oct 17, 2022
Great question! Since laser hair removal should be done in a timely manner I would do all your sessions for that first and then go to the PICO laser to address the hyperpigmentation. If you did both you would have to alternate them every 4 weeks, and that would not give you optimal results for the laser hair removal. We have the PicoSure laser here at VIVAA and it works really well for hyperpigmentation!
What procedures can I do for skin of color (Asian), to remove hyperpigmentation?
PicoSure
Oct 14, 2022
A great skin treatment to address hyperpigmentation, collagen stimulation, scarring, skin texture irregularity and melasma is the PicoSure laser! This laser uses pressure and not heat, so it is safe to use on all skin types. Melasma is more tricky to treat and cannot be permanently removed, so suppression of the melanocytes is important and can be done with the PicoSure laser, make sure to avoid IPL or any other lasers that use heat since it can worsen the melasma.
Coolsculpting + Intermittent Fasting - will that hasten the elimination of dead fat cells?
CoolSculpting
Oct 13, 2022
The best way to help eliminate these fat cells is by drinking plenty water as this will help flush out the cells, and exercising. Fasting would not make you eliminate these dead cells faster. It is important to have proper nutrition for you body to heal, it would be more beneficial eating healthy meals to boost the recovery process.
I’ve been told a brown spot, birthmark, etc. - What procedure would help remove this?
PicoSure Laser
Oct 12, 2022
Depending on your skin type I would recommend doing the PicoSure laser or IPL. The Pico laser uses pressure which is safe for all skin types and works at a trillionth of a second to break up the pigment. IPL is intense pulsed light that heats up the pigment and then it will look like coffee grounds and flake off.
Can I have a Photofacial while on hydroxychloroquine?
IPL
Oct 12, 2022
Great question! There is no evidence that hydroxychloroquine causes increased photosensitivity, so you should be fine getting IPL. It is always good to double check with your doctor for any medications you are currently taking that may increase photosensitivity.
