Thank you for your inquiry and photo. It would be helpful to know if this lump that you have noticed has grown in size, and if it is causing you discomfort. Have you had your regular breast studies done? MRI's or breast ultrasound? This new lump can be something benign, like a fat necrosis from a previous breast surgery, but it is important to follow up with both your breast surgeon and your board certified plastic surgeon on a regular basis after your surgeries to address your concerns. 
Is it normal for my implants to still look like this 6 weeks out? What can I do?

Hello!! Thank you for your question, after surgery your breasts usually drop a little and they do it at different times. I normally recommended my patients to wait at least 3-6 months until they settle in their final position and then evaluate the result, in the meantime I also recommend breast massages to help with this. Discuss further with your breast surgeon.

Hello and thank you for your inquiry! There can be an increased risk of infection in breast augmentation if you have not fully stopped producing milk. I would usually recommend to wait the full 6 months after you have stopped nursing before having the breast augmentation. I believe physical examination is key to have a better idea of reconstructive options, as well as to know what expectations do you have (for example, if you want to be the same size, bigger or smaller). Thank you for your inquiry and photo. It seems as though you have wound dehiscence, which can happen after surgery. Since this area has a lot of tension, it is more common to open up. This requires local wound care and possibly topical anti-biotics. I would suggest you follow up with your board certified plastic surgeon to address your concerns.

Thank you for your inquiry. After a breast lift with augmentation, I would usually recommend taking at least 1 week off after the surgery. There will be driving restrictions, as well as no heavy lifting of heavy objects. Even though you have described that there will be no heavy lifting entailed, remember that with every surgery comes some discomfort and pain. Every patient has a different pain tolerance. By what you are describing when you flex, this can be what is called animation deformity. If you are planning on having the implants removed, usually the capsule that has formed around the implant is also removed. This is called a caspulectomy. Thank you for your question, after breast surgery some asymmetries could be noted as well as swelling, specially on the upper pole. This is going to subside in the next few weeks. I normally recommended my patients to wait at least 3-6 months until they settle in their final position and then evaluate the results. I also recommend my patients to do breast massages to help the implant to drop in their final position. Discuss further with your board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Hello! Thank you for your photo and inquiry. Itchiness after surgery can be due to a reaction to surgical tape, bra etc. The area also looks a bit red. In my medical opinion, a topical anti-biotic ointment would better help the incisions to heal. Hello! Thank you for your questions and photos. Usually Medicare does cover nipple reconstruction due to the acquired absence of the nipple and areolas after mastectomy. Fatgrafting is also covered due to asymmetries and deformities that come after breast reconstruction. Hopefully you can find a local plastic surgeon who accepts Medicare and will help you finish your breast reconstruction journey!
Will insurance cover a 2nd breast reduction and should I have another?

Thank you for your inquiry and photos. Being that you had a fairly recent breast reduction, I believe that you will have a hard time getting a second one approved. As you know the insurance requires 500-600 grams removed from each breast. Some insurances will require pre-operative photos to be sent in for review and any documentation of therapy done for back pain. It is worth a shot, but highly doubtful that they will approve a second breast reduction. Good luck!

Thank you for your inquiry and photos. You have great results and the incisions look like they have healed well. I always recommend that my patients start breast massages 3-4 weeks after their surgery. Whether it be lymphatic massages with a massage therapist or at home massages, they are very important to avoid capsular contraction. This will also help the implants drop a bit and they will feel softer as well. Always address any concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your inquiry and photos. Usually redness accompanied with warmth can be a sign of an infection starting. Since your physician prescribed anti-biotics, I would wait a few more days to see if the redness subsides. It can take a few days for the anti-biotics to kick in. Continue with the bathing instructions as instructed by your physician to keep the incisions clean and follow up with him/her if there is any change, whether it is for better or worse.

Thank you for your questions and your photos. Insurance companies have different protocols and they go by the Schnur Scale which is based off your height and weight. Most companies suggest a minimum of 500 grams to be removed, and this may be more than you would like, based off of your concern. I do suggest going in for a follow up with the board certified plastic surgeon who you are having the surgery with, to discuss yours concerns and make your decision. Good luck!
