What Can I Expect to Notice Immediately After Having Radiesse?
Minimize the swelling and bruising
Jan 2, 2012
Radiesse, which is Calcium Hydroxyapetite is a relatively inert substance with very rare chance of an allergic reaction. The only issues after treatment would be the potential swelling and bruising. There is a rather dull pain associated with the treatment for the first day as well which is very minor. To minimize the bruising and swelling, patient is recommended to avoid any blood thinners, which include aspirin, coumadin, plavix in addition to fish oil and vitamin E. It...
Can I Wait 7 Months for Mohs for 2mm Nodular BCC on Nose?
The sooner the treatment, the smaller the potential scar
Jan 2, 2012
As you know, Basal Cell Cancer, even though not an aggressive tumor by any means, is still a cancer. Nodular BCC by defnition could be extending vertically and deep in addition to the outside periphery. Mohs surgery could remove the cancer cells entirely while sparing the uninvolved skin. If the cancer is in fact only 2mm, the potential scar and recovery could be very minimal and should not interfere with your daily activities. However, if the cancer is allowed to progress and...
How much does Botox cost?
Botox cost depends on units
Feb 8, 2010
Botox is usually priced per unit or area. A fair and comparative way would be finding out the number of units required. Usually between the eyebrows takes about 20-25 units, forehead takes about 10-20 units and crows feet takes about 20 to 40 units.

The average price per unit ranges from 8 to 15. I would question who is doing the actualy injection and their experience when choosing the office and not just go based on the lower price.

What's the best hair removal treatment?
Laser Hair Removal for everything, Electrolysis for gray hair only
Feb 8, 2010
Laser Hair Removal generally works really well for pigmented hair. Electrolysis is only recommended for hair that does not respond to laser such as blonde or gray hair. I am not a fan of IPL lasers as the number of required treatments are significantly higher and the specific energy level is not readily obtained.

As for the laser hair removal, the two best lasers are the ones using Alexandrite laser and Diode lasers, most well known of them are the Gentlelase system and Lightsheer system...

Will collagen injections make my lips look fake?
Natural looks is combination of proper technique and proper product
Feb 7, 2010
Just remember, for every one person that seems obvious that "has had work done" on her lips, there are probabely 10s other out there that have had their lips augmented but is so natural looking that you can't tell!

The trick with lip injections is using the appropriate product and proper technique. As far as products, my favorite one for the lips is Juvederm Ultra for the upper lip and Ultra plus for the lower lip. The key is knowing the less is better. If you think you...

How do I get rid of forehead wrinkles?
Dysport or Botox for Forehead Wrinkles
Feb 7, 2010
For the lines on the forehead, usually either Botox or Dysport work the best. I personally prefer Dysport on the midline lines since it distributes more evenly and smoothly but would caution against Dysport when trying to lift the eyebrow since there is a higher chance of eyebrow droopiness.

If the lines are deeper and are static lines that are always present even when not making an expression, then a filler could also be used in addition to Botox or Dypsort. I would recommend treating...

What's the best lip enhancement and plumping?
Luscious yet natural looking lips
Feb 7, 2010
The goal with lip augmentation is to make sure the lips match the person's face, are symmetric and without any lumps or unevenness.

Even though there are several options for lip augmentation, the best ones are Hyluronic Acids, specifically Juvederm since its generally softer and more malleoble than its counterpart Restylane. Juvederm Ultra Plus is also preferred for the lower lip augmentation since its more filling. I would strongly recommend against using Radiesse or Silicone in the...
