PicoWay vs. PicoPlus
Nov 19, 2018
At our practice, we have had great results with the PicoPlus. PicoWay and PicoPlus are similar devices with subtle differences. The wavelength for the PicoPlus is good for treating the black inks. However, for the other colors in the tattoo, the PicoSure laser, another picosecond laser by Cynosure, would be effective. We would recommend a combination of lasers to address treatment. The PicoPlus and PicoSure each use different wavelengths so they each can target different colors in the tattoo…

Accutane and Juvaderm
Aug 29, 2018
Thank you for your question! Yes; you can get the Juvederm filler prior to starting the Accutane. There are no known interactions between Juvederm and Accutane. Filler injections may cause temporary bruising, tenderness, itching or swelling, but this should not interact with your Accutane treatment. Accutane has potential side effects as well. Please make sure to review these with your physician.
Laser Acne Treatment
Laser Acne Treatments
Apr 3, 2018
Yes. There are several laser and light based treatments that we use at our office to treat acne. For example, the Blu-U 4170 is a blue light treatment for moderate acne. It works by helping to kill bacteria responsible for the acne. There is the Acleara system which combines a vacuum and light energy to both clean the pore and kill bacteria responsible for the acne. We also use the Cutera Genesis 1064 nm laser to heat the oil glands, reduce oil, kill bacteria and improve acne. Acne can…
How Does Skin Rejuvenation Work
Skin Rejuvenation
Nov 22, 2017
Skin rejuvenation and skin resurfacing are terms that can refer to one of many specific procedures, including IPL, chemical peels, ablative laser treatments, dermabrasion, and other procedures. Most skin rejuvenation treatments will not thin out the skin (or epidermis). The skin can naturally thin with age and some skin rejuvenation methods treat this by boosting collagen production or providing additional natural structural compounds for the skin.
I have very thin lips. I have been getting Restylane lip injections for years. They never stay plump
Lip Injections
Sep 13, 2017
The length of results can vary for each patient. While some patients can have results that last up to six months, for others it does not last this long. I’d recommend a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. You may want to look at other injectable hyaluronic acid products with different formulations, such as certain Juvederm products or the Restylane Refyne injectable for longer lasting results.
Condidering CoolSculpting. How long does the skin redness last?
How Long Does the Skin Redness Last With CoolSculpting? Redness Is Temporary With CoolSculpting
Jul 19, 2017
Most of my patients don’t experience much redness with
CoolSculpting, and those who do see it disappear within an hour or two. It’s
very temporary. I wouldn’t advise sunbathing, though. UVA and UVB rays from the
sun or tanning beds are behind almost all of the signs we associate with aging
skin. Wear hats and sunscreen any time you go outside. Consulting a
board-certified dermatologist will determine whether you are a candidate for
CoolSculpting.
How can I fix my lip/smile without surgery?
How Can I Fix My Lip/Smile Without Surgery? Try Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, to Relax Lips
Jul 19, 2017
You can have a more symmetrical smile if you treat your
overactive smile muscles with a neuromodulator such as Botox, Xeomin or
Dysport. It will take effect within hours. You may have a little swelling for a
few days, so get it done before your wedding. The effects should last two to
three months. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who has experience
relaxing the face with neuromodulators will get you the best results, as it
takes expertise to treat the lips with Botox.
Is voluma a good idea for me?
Is Voluma a Good Idea for Me? Try Restylane Lyft or Voluma
Jul 19, 2017
I don’t believe fillers are a good treatment for malar bags, so
I am sorry for your frustration. Whether your reaction was to Juvederm or to
poor injector technique, I’d suggest going with a different formulation to
minimize the chance of repeating your bad experience. Try Restylane Lyft or
Voluma for modeling your cheekbones. Start with just a little to make sure you
tolerate the product, and then add more when you can. Consulting a board-certified
dermatologist will allow you to learn more…
Botox? Botox lip lift? Filler? Or all of the above?
Botox? Filler? All of the Above? Your Lips Would Probably Benefit from Combination Therapy
Jul 19, 2017
A small touch of Botox at your lip corners can raise them
slightly, giving you a more pleasant expression. The perioral lines and the
indentation under your lip can be resolved with hyaluronic acid fillers such as
Volbella, Juvederm and Restylane. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist
will help you decide which treatments you’ll need to get the kind of
improvements you desire.
Should I get laser resurfacing and fillers or something a little more drastic?
Should I Get Laser Resurfacing and Fillers? Laser Resurfacing and Fillers Will Make a Big Difference
Jul 19, 2017
Your photos indicate that you would respond well to resurfacing
with Fraxel Deep Fx or Re:Store Dual. Deep Fx is a laser that will give you a
red face for a couple of weeks, but doesn’t not have to be repeated more than
once a year. Re:Store Dual doesn’t have any downtime, but takes several
treatments to get equivalent results. The Fraxel will not only polish down your
fine lines and wrinkles and eliminate hyperpigmentation, it also stimulates
collagen and elastin to make your skin more…
Why did CoolSculpting not work for me?
Why Did CoolSculpting Not Work for Me? Noninvasive Fat Removal Takes Time
Jul 6, 2017
It sounds like you had only one session of CoolSculpting. You will need at least three, based on your photos. CoolSculpting can only remove about 20% to 30% of fat at a time. You can have your sessions spaced two weeks apart. Results do take several months to be apparent – sometimes up to six months. Everybody’s metabolism is different.
I wouldn’t advise switching to Kybella yet. Finish your CoolSculpting treatments. You should be treated with the CoolMini handle and receive a m…
After Voluma cheek filler, how long does your face stay swollen? If given in one part of face does it
After Voluma Cheek Filler, How Long Is Face Swollen? Swelling After Voluma Lasts About a Week
Jul 6, 2017
You shouldn’t be swollen after your Voluma injections for more than a few days to a week or two. You can control swelling by avoid blood-thinning herbs such as gingko biloba and ginger before your surgery, avoiding aspirin and NSAIDs, taking the herb arnica, and using ice after your procedure. Having Voluma injected into one side of the face will not affect the other side nor cause it to swell. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in dermal fillers will allow you to…
59 y.o. male and I am interested in getting my jaw line better defined. Would Voluma be a good choice
59 Y.O. Male Wants Defined Jaw? Voluma or Sculptra Can Create Stronger Jaw
Jul 6, 2017
Either Sculptra or Voluma could be used to build up your jawbone, just as these two dermal fillers are used to build up cheekbones. Sculptra takes longer to work, but can last up to two years. Voluma can last up to two years. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who has long expertise in sculpting the face with dermal fillers will determine which filler is best to create the stronger jaw you desire.
When treated with Sculptsure, how does the fat expel from the body and how long do results last?
SculpSure Process and Results
Jul 3, 2017
SculpSure uses laser energy to heat the fat cells, damaging their structural integrity. The body’s lymphatic system eliminates the damaged fat cells in the months after treatment. Treatment can be tailored to each patient as the fat doesn’t have to fit into a specific suction cup. Results can typically be seen within 6 to 12 weeks. After these particular fat cells are destroyed, it is important to maintain a healthy active lifestyle-remember that SculpSure is a bod…
Botox or filler?
Should I Get Botox or Filler for Lips? Dynamic Wrinkles Get Botox; Lips Get Fillers
Jun 7, 2017
We only use Botox to relax dynamic muscles that cause wrinkles, creases, or asymmetry. To reshape you lip and reveal more of the vermillion on the smaller lip, a hyaluronic-acid based filler such as Juvederm, Volbella or Restylane would be ideal. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in reshaping lips will get you the smile you desire.
