Accutite vs lower bleph - I’m not keen on the general anesthesia, though. thoughts? (p
Accutite can improve lower eyelid bags
Mar 27, 2020
While surgery for the lower eyelids is the more traditional and reproducible result for the lower eyelids, Accutite combined with Morpheus is a close second.  Accutite is not for everyone.  Those patients with laxity of the lower eyelid are generally not good candidates for the treatment.  Additionally, the swelling can last for a while afterward.  However, we have seen improvement in the patients that have "bags" of the lower eyelids and some crepey skin.  The treatment does not make ever...

Shorter, Straighter Nose
Aug 8, 2019
It is possible to reduce the overall size/length of the nose as well as straighten it.  Using the septal cartilage from the inside of the nose, spreader grafts can help to straighten.  Additionally straightening the septum and the nasal bones will help the overall improvement of the appearance.  Using the end of the septum helps to anchor the tip of the nose and allow for rotation into a more pleasing position.  Upon examination by your surgeon, you will be able to determine through com...
What procedure could help diminish my eye wrinkles and tighten the skin?
reducing eyelid wrinkles
Aug 1, 2019
There are a variety of treatments that we use to reduce wrinkles and tighten skin.  Small amounts of botox will make the area more static and reduce wrinkling.  To improve texture overall and tighten the skin MicroLaserPeel (MLP) works well. It is an erbium laser peel and will help the skin texture to be smoother and overall tighter.  Additionally TCA peels can help improve tone and texture of the eye area.  Both the TCA and MLP have some downtime associated with them.  Adding a skin maint...
What kind of local anaesthesia is usually used for doing blepharoplasty? And what kind
Anesthesia for Eyelid Surgery
Aug 1, 2019
Eyelid surgery is a relatively quick surgery that lends itself well to a local anesthetic with IV sedation.  Typically 1% lidocaine with 1:100,000 of epinephrine is used in order to provide adequate analgesia (numbing).  Anywhere from 3 to 10 cc is used for the whole case.  For the sedation the anesthesiologist will give a relaxant (eg Valium) and propofol.  This combination provides a level of comfort where most patients are snoring throughout the case.  Occasionally patients prefer to have...
Is this a Pollybeak Deformity?
Small irregularities after rhinoplasty
Jul 24, 2019
Rhinoplasty results take time - swelling needs to resolve to allow for the final result. The amount of swelling often depends on the thickness of the skin.  Small irregularities can disappear over the year of healing.  The best advice is not to touch the area excessively which can lead to thinning of the skin and keep your follow up appointments with your surgeon.  A pollybeak deformity would be a persistent fullness above the tip of the nose that is either due to excess cartilage or ex...
I was wondering if I'm being overcharged for a mini lift, does $8900 sound right?
Cost of mini-lift
Jun 3, 2019
Surgeons fees vary widely by state and by surgeon's expertise.  If you are concerned regarding the price, perhaps seeking additional consultations will give you the information you a better sense of what the fees are in your area.
Is an alar base reduction enough or would I also need an osteotomies?
Narrowing of the nose
Jun 3, 2019
Alar base reduction addresses the width of the nostrils only.  Typically some tip refinement accompanies this procedure so that the lower part of the nose doesn't look boxy. The morphed images that you provide show narrowing of the area above the nostrils as well as alar base narrowing. Sso you are best off having a rhinoplasty to achieve the results you desire.
Had a mole removed, the day after the steri strips were coming off almost completely.
Postop care for incisional closure
Jun 3, 2019
Any questions regarding a fresh wound repair should be directed to your doctor.  There are typically ways to get in touch if it is after hours or on the weekend.
Is it normal for lips to look asymmetric after getting injections for the first time?
Swelling after lip filler
Jun 3, 2019
After injecting filler into the lips patients may experience swelling and bruising.  This will subside as time goes on.  At the 2 week follow up things will have settled down enough to look at the pictures before and after to see if there is any preexisting or new asymmetry.
What can I do about PIE (post inflammatory erythema) I've had for over two years?
Erythema reduction
Oct 25, 2018
There are a variety of ways to reduce erythema from laser treatments with Aerolase Neo, BBL, skin care products and LED lights. Consultation with your doctor will determine which is best for you.
Are these wrinkles considered shallow?
Botox effect on Forehead
Oct 25, 2018
Botox works by reducing muscle movement.  It may take a few treatments for the wrinkles to fade.  If the wrinkles are still present in an area of no movement they are not shallow.  Other treatments can assist with helping them to go away quicker - hydrafacial, microneedling, PRP, RF, Laser, medical grade skin care etc.  There are a wide variety of options.  Patience with the Botox and you may see the result you desire with that alone.
Should I have to pay for more Botox or should it be free by the third touch up?
Amount of Botox
Oct 25, 2018
The amount of Botox needed is patient dependent.  The average female will usually need 20 units to "freeze" the 11's.  Some patients are able to recruit other muscles to make the movement despite the fact that the corrugators are not moving.  A 4 year gap in treatment typically gives time for wrinkles to deepen -- as such it may take several treatments before the wrinkles are softened significantly.  Charging for additional Botox depends on what the original amount recommended and goals of ...
What's the difference between an infracture and an osteotomy?
infracture of the nasal bone
Oct 22, 2018
Infracture is a term that some use to say that they moved the nasal bones inward after performing an osteotomy.  The term can also be used in other surgeries.
Would my nose bridge be considered low and if so what type of procedure would be best
Bridge of the Nose
Jun 14, 2018
The bridge of the nose "typically" starts at the level of the upper eyelid crease in the Caucasian patient. There is tremendous variability based on ethnicity.  Your nose appears to be very close to starting at that position.  Your surgeon will review all of your pictures and examine you in order to make recommendations about what would be best and whether Rhinoplasty is the right answer for you.
If my upper lateral cartilage is caved in from my primary rhino and septoplasty, what
Cartilage collapse
Jun 14, 2018
Cartilage that has a depression after Rhinoplasty can typically be fixed with cartilage grafting. The source of the graft could be septal cartilage (inside the nose), ear cartilage or rib cartilage.  It really depends on how much structure is needed to fix the problem.
