How can I get rid of this hole in my forehead?
Skin
Jul 13, 2019
Thank you for your question and photo. The small pit in the skin on your forehead may be treated by excision. You may trade the pit for a small scar that will likely be hardly noticeable after proper healing. If it bothers you, I recommend you seek a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon.
How can eye webbing and stretched skin be corrected? How soon after a MOHS 5 weeks ago can it be c
Mohs reconstruction
Jul 13, 2019
Thank you for your question and photo. Congratulations on undergoing treatment for skin cancer! I believe it is too early to determine your expectant result which may take as long as 6 months to 1 year. Based on the photo, it appears that the wound has early healing changes. You are applying appropriate treatment including gentle massage and silicone. You may find silicone gels easier to use. I recommend silicone gels with a little steroid (example:…
What Is The Proper Way For Me To Clean The Dried Mucus Out Of My Nose 3 Weeks Post-Op?
Rhinoplasty post operative care
Jul 13, 2019
This is a common issue patients who underwent rhinoplasty surgery report. I recommend use of nasal saline sprays (every hour you are awake) as well as use of a humidifer. Picking crusts from your nose is discouraged, but I do recommend regular post operative visits with your surgeon who can help you decrust the nose for proper healing.
I had upper blepharoplasty last November 2018. But it is bumpy and and with scar. Should I have a
upper blepharoplasty
Jul 13, 2019
Thank you for your question and photo. An in office evaluation will help to assess whether you are a candidate for a revision upper blepharoplasty. It is important to be conservative in taking upper eyelid skin because you want to avoid having dry eyes and incomplete eye closure which can cause problems such as eye tearing. Other features about the eye or surrounding the eye need to be assessed. For example, if the brows are descended, it can provide an…
Under eye bags after double blepharoplasty getting more noticable – Should it be a concern? (photo
lower blepharoplasty
Jul 13, 2019
Thank you for your question and photos. It appears you have swelling from your surgery, as expected 5 weeks after a lower blepharoplasty. I advise patients that healing takes at least 6-12 months after surgery in this area. You may also notice fluctuations in swelling with activity and this is normal. If you want to improve the amount of swelling, you can use gentle cool compresses and avoid salty foods. I recommend you continue to follow with your surgeon.
Can you have lower eye bags removed even if you’re told you have thin skin?
Lower Blepharoplasty
Jul 13, 2019
Thank you for your question and photograph. There are many different treatment options for lower eyelids. Non-invasive options include filler injections (off-label use) and laser treatment. Despite having thin eyelid skin, you may still be a candidate for surgical options as well. The best approach may be determined at the time of an in office consultation where an experienced surgeon may evaluate you from different angles, determine the lower eyelid laxity, and…
Are there any risks with a transconjunctival incision to fix a cheekbone fracture?
transconjunctival approach
Jul 11, 2019
Yes, there are risks with a transconjunctival incision to fix a facial fracture. Risks include bleeding, infection, injury to the eye, eyelid retraction (pulling down of the eyelid), inward folding eyelid, injury to the tear duct, and numbness or tingling of the cheek. Depending on the location of the facial fracture, your anatomy, and the surgeon’s experience, the transconjunctival incision may or may not be the best approach. I recommend you be evaluated by…
Can you advise on a mole on side of my face that is getting pretty big?
skin lesion
Jul 11, 2019
Thank you for your photo. I recommend you have an in person evaluation of the skin lesion by a physician. Based on the photo, it appears to be a benign skin lesion called seborrheic keratosis, but any changing lesion should be evaluated because even benign appearing lesions can be skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and evaluating changing skin lesions is worthwhile. For aesthetically pleasing treatment, you may prefer to be evaluated…
Should I get the scar capsule removed when I get my silicone chin implant removed?
Chin Implant
Jul 7, 2019
Thank you for your question. If you had no complications from the chin implant, then removal of the implant without excision of the scar capsule is recommended. Attempting to remove the scar capsule may cause irregularities and unnatural scar formation within the tissues. Simple removal of the chin implant will likely return your chin to a similar appearance prior to the procedure.
Is it safe to have Botox in the neck with health conditions?
Neurotoxins for platysmal bands
Jul 7, 2019
Thank you for your question. Neurotoxins including botox are effective in treating platsymal bands. These are dynamic muscular bands that form with strain in the neck. It is difficult to know if you have them based on the photo you sent, as they are visible on animation.
If you do have active platysmal banding, then botox may be an effective treatment and safe even in the setting of thyroid malfunction. You should seek treatment to…
Do I need more filler in my lips to correct the unevenness?
Lip filler
Jul 7, 2019
Thank you for your question. Based on the photo, it appears that the asymmetry may be related to the fullness on the upper right lip skin above the vermillion (lip border) compared to the left side. I recommend an in office consultation for physical evaluation. If the filler migrated beyond the red lip portion, I would recommend dissolving this area first, then may consider re-injection a few weeks later to create symmetry or the fullness you…
How long for Infraorbital nerve damage to heal following 0.5ml of HA filler in cheek 10 months ago
filler complications
Jul 7, 2019
Thank you for bringing attention to this topic. I agree with many of the responders that you can reduce your risks by visiting an experienced injector who is knowledgeable of the facial anatomy.
It is interesting that the pain you experienced occurred 5 days after the procedure (rather than immediately at the time of the procedure). The timing suggests that the pain may be caused secondary to nerve compression from swelling, hematoma (blood collection), or local inflammatory…
