There are several treatment options for the chin. A lot of the decision making depends on your anatomy and what your goals are. Fillers can be used in the chin area to increase projection and make a chin “longer.” Botox can be used to smooth out dimpling and also slightly increase projection. Surgical options include chin implants, mentopexy, and genioplasty. I would recommend an in person consult to address your concerns!

Great question and thanks for sharing your photos. The chin can be addressed in a couple of manners. Yes, filler can be done to fill in the chin itself (to increase projection and make it more proprotional in the profile view.) Filler is also sometimes used in the “mentolabial” crease. Botox can be used to the mentalis muscle of the chin to soften the dimpling of the chin and increase projection. Surgical options for the chin include chin implants and gen...

Good question and thanks for sharing your picture. It would be important to see your profile view (from the side) to better assess your chin projection and overall facial shape and proportions. Sometimes botox is used to the masseter muscle to help “slim” a face that is square in shape. Chin, prejowl, and jawline filler can be used to help contour the jawline but would be best assessed in person.

Great question and thanks for posting the pictures. Do you know what method was used to remove the mole (excision with sutures, “shave”, etc.) With any incisions and wounds, it takes a full year for the area to be fully healed. Within that year, redness tends to fade. Things you can do right now to help maximize healing would be to make sure the area is always covered with sunscreen (SPF 30). Early in the healing process (first 1-2 weeks) I like to have pat...

Interesting question! Although keloid formation is due to abnormal collagen formation and organization after a skin injury (incision, wound, etc.) do not have any medical evidence that a collagen injection would lead to a keloid. Especially if you do not have a history of hypertrophic scarring, keloid formation, or other unusual scarring. I would make sure you see a provider who is comfortable doing your injections and able to discuss your past scarring history or...

There are a lot of treatment options for the chin area. Sometimes it is using a neurotoxin like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin to quiet the mentalis muscle of the chin that may be hyperactive and causing dimpling. Sometimes filler is needed to improve the contour of the jawline or help camoflauge abnormalities of the chin. Other times surgery may be necessary to surgically alter the chin (either the bone of the jaw itself or the soft tissue of the chin.) I would...

The chin area has complex anatomy and you could have multiple reasons for having the abnormality you're describing. Sometimes it is the mentalis muscle of the chin that is excessively dimpling- this can easily be treated with botox. Sometimes it is just the shape of your jaw (which makes up the bone of your chin.) If it is abnormally long/projected/shaped this can be addressed surgically. There are also options for using fillers in the chin and jawline region to help smooth out...

Great question! In my opinion, because fat is injected in the face deep to the skin layers (above bone, below muscle, within different fascial planes, etc.) it should not be affected by any skin treatments such as a chemical peel. However, your surgeon may want the cannula introduction sites (the insertion points where the fat gets injected into the face) to be fully healed prior to doing any skin treatments. Additionally, they may not want the face...
