Hi Peaceful684795, There are many options with regards to the type of filler for the lips. 0.5 cc is a very small amount for the lips and you may be happier with a larger volume. However, the volume does not affect the length of time the filler lasts. Some fillers last longer but generally, in the lip, given that it is a mobile area, filler tends to go away faster but on average lasts 6-9 months. Dear Soren, Based on your photos and combination of a rhinoplasty and chin augmentation would give you a more masculine appearance as you do appear do have a smaller chin on your profile. A small to medium chin plan along with a rhinoplasty to reduce your hump and refine your tip will provide a nice result. I don't recommend fillers if you are considering surgery as a chin implant will give you a permanent result rather than fillers which would be temporary.

Weight gain or loss will not change the shape or size of the nose. However, your face may change with weight loss, and can affect the way the nose appears in proportion to the rest of your face. Weight loss may actually make your nose appear larger, and weight gain may make it appear smaller.

After your rhinoplasty, its best to avoid hot and spicy foods and big bits that lead to excess stretch of your upper lip. This is most important the first week or two after surgery. In terms of straining with bowel movements, consider an over the counter stool softener especially if you are also on narcotics for pain management.

After rhinoplasty, it is best to sleep with your head elevated the first 10 days after surgery. This helps reduce swelling and potential injury. After then, if you can continue to sleep in that position, it is best but not absolutely necessary. As far as other positions, unless you are putting quite a bit of pressure on the nose, it should not effect your result.

When septal cartilage is unavailable, rib or ear cartilage can be used for grafts. The decision as to which depends on the amount of cartilage needed and the strength/type of grafts needed for the rhinoplasty. Rib cartilage is useful when in need a larger amount of grafts and those with greater strength. It is very normal, even expected for the nose to swell more after removing the cast as the cast is what helps keep the swelling out. It takes a full year to recover from rhinoplasty. About 90% of the swelling should resolve in the first three months, with the remaining 10% over the next 9 months. The swelling takes the longest to resolve in the nasal tip. You should see major improvement with time.

It can take at least a year for a nose to heal after a primary rhinoplasty and sometimes longer especially if you are thick skinned. At three months out, you have quite a bit of swelling in your nasal tip and it should improve with time. However, it is best to follow up with your surgeon so that he or she can address your concerns.
