Thanks for the question, Sophie. Because Botox acts on the nerve endings within the muscle itself, it will be most effective when deposited directly into the substance of the muscle. Due to the thickness of the overlying tissues in this area, the needle is advanced deeper than is typically needed elsewhere on the face.
