Improving Cellulite with Cellfina and Fillers
May 28, 2020
Thanks for your question! To be assess your concern, it would be best to visit a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can examine the area in person. When treating patients with Cellfina, I often find the best results appear many months after treatment when residual swelling and bruising have subsided. In some cases, fillers like Radiesse or Sculptra can do a nice job of correcting residual dimpling.
Do facial fillers stretch out skin and cause sagging? Do they ever fully dissolve?
Do fillers stretch out skin and cause sagging?
May 28, 2020
Hello and thank you for your question! Fillers do not cause stretching of the skin. I recommend using a HA (hyaluronic acid) filler that can be dissolved. Improper placement of fillers in certain areas could cause migration. This is commonly observed around the eyes. If you are interested in facial fillers, I would recommend seeking out a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
How long should I wait after my Cellfina procedure to have my Emsculpt sessions done on my butt?
Emsculpt After Cellfina
Feb 12, 2020
Hello and thank you for your question! I recommend my patients wait one month post Cellfina to begin Emsculpt treatments to the buttocks. We want to make sure that most of your swelling and soreness have resolved before beginning the treatment. The supramaximal contractions of Emsculpt could be more painful if you still have a lot of residual soreness and bruising from Cellfina. Hope this helps!
Will microneedling help soften scar tissue on my nose tip?
Microneedling for scars
Feb 7, 2020
Thanks for your question! Generally speaking, microneedling is an effective way to minimize the appearance of surgical scarring. There are many other treatments, like the Fraxel laser, that may be a better fit for your concern. I would recommend seeking out a board-certified dermatologist, or reaching out to your original surgeon, for an in-person evaluation.

Botox Treatment and UTI

Hello! It would be best to wait until your infection has been treated to receive any cosmetic procedure.
How do I fix a deep indentation from Kybella or exilis?
Fixing a depression after Kybella
Mar 15, 2018
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance which permanently dissolves fat cells. Used properly, it’s an effective treatment for localized fat.  Swelling after treatment is normal and will dissipate on its own, though it may last some time.  While an oral steroid may be used to treat generalized swelling, an injected steroid may cause atrophy of the injected area.  Filler is the first line of treatment to correct the depression.  I would strongly encourage you to seek ou…
Can Fraxel repair be used on brown skin (Indian skin) to treat indent scars on forehead?
Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyper or Hypo-pigmentation after Fraxel Repair
Jan 23, 2018
Without more information it’s difficult to say what the most effective treatment would be.  Lasers, microneedling and fillers are all potential solutions.  In my experience, the risk of hyper or hypo-pigmentation after Fraxel re:pair is higher than after Fraxel re:store, and hypo-pigmentation following the Fraxel re:pair can be permanent.  In the Fraxel family, I use the Fraxel Dual 1927 for hyper-pigmented scars, and the 1550 for hypo-pigmented scars. If not already, work with a board cer…
Treatment approaches to raised bump from Cellfina below buttocks and above banana roll? Bump visible
Liposuction to address a bump after Cellfina?
Jan 23, 2018
Good question, Considmi.  It is indeed possible to have tumescent liposuction while standing, though this may not help with your concern.  I would suggest further evaluation from a local dermatologist or plastic surgeon experienced with body contouring.  It may be herniation of fat through the septum or a traumatic lipoma.  The latter can be addressed fairly easily, the former may be more difficult to treat. Good luck!
Can Kybella be used for mons pubis reduction? Does Kybellas cause deflating/sagging look (like lipo)?
Kybella for mons pubis ? Does Kybella cause sagging?
Nov 20, 2017
Kybella is approved for use under the chin, so use in the mons pubis would be off label. That said, Kybella works by permanently dissolving fat cells and will “work” wherever it is injected. However, the side effects, which include swelling and numbness and which may least several months, may be undesirable in this location. Kybella typically does not cause sagging skin or a deflated look. In contrast to liposuction, there is less fat tissue destroyed,…
What is the best way to fix smokers lines above lip?
Perioral lines need combination therapy
Nov 16, 2017
Perioral lines can be difficult to treat, and best results are usually obtained from a combination of fillers and resurfacing. Neuromodulators may also help with movement-associated lines. Ablative CO2 lasers are the gold standard, but good results can also be obtained from a series of microneedling or fractionated CO2 treatments. I’d suggest consulting with a board certified dermatologist that has experience with these treatments to get a…
What is the best way to deal with the deep lines around my mouth? Had fillers but am not satisfied. (
The best way to address deep lines around the mouth
Nov 16, 2017
Fillers and neuromodulators are effective, but as we age we often need to add resurfacing to the mix. An ablative CO2 would be the gold standard, but if you don’t want the downtime, a series of microneedling or fractionated CO2 will usually show good results. I’d suggest consulting with a board certified dermatologist that has experience with injectables and these resurfacing treatments to develop a treatment plan specific to your needs….
Will the results of the first laser CO2 treatment be effective? Could it get rid of wrinkles after th
Will CO2 Laser get rid of wrinkles after the first session? It depends!
Nov 16, 2017
Thanks for the question! The short answer is a fully ablative CO2 laser treatment will show results after one treatment. A fractionated CO2 laser treatment may not show as much tissue tightening and wrinkle reduction from a single treatment. The trade off is downtime. I’d recommend consulting with a board certified dermatologist that has experience and offers both lasers to get a treatment plan specific to your needs.
I have ptosis of the right eye which began 12 days after Botox treatment.
Ptosis after Botox
Nov 16, 2017
I’m sorry to hear about your experience, and as others have said, no its not too late to be related. Most neuromodulators take effect 7-14 days after treatment, with full effect at about 14 days. Although it may be technique related, you may also have an underlying predisposition to ptosis if your right side levator muscle is innately weak. In most cases ptosis will gradually resolve within a month of onset. Good luck, and be sure to…
Is Retin-A supposed to peel like a peel off mask when it dries?
Use a pea-sized amount of Retin-A.
Oct 27, 2017
Hi Akosua98, thanks for the question. Retin-A is a popular choice to maintain and improve skin quality – and for good reason. This product has been studied extensively, and has a strong body of scientific literature to support its efficacy
It’s important to apply Retin-A properly. It should not peel off like a mask as it dries. I recommend applying an amount of product that is about the size of a single green pea. Rub Retin-A evenly into your face, avoiding the thin skin directly around y…
I got Botox 5 months ago and as a result got a skin fold under one eye. Will it ever go?
For better or worse, Botox always wears off.
Oct 19, 2017
Hi Anu253, thank you for your question. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this concern after treatment. It’s difficult to properly assess your pictures, but in general, Botox typically lasts 3-4 months. It may persist in some patients for 6 months or slightly longer. I have been studying and treating with Botox since its earliest days in cosmetic use, and I have never seen a case of it lasting permanently. For better or worse, Botox always wears off.
If you have not already, I recommend seeki…
