For red, raised scars, I use a combination of the Cutera Excel V and Genesis lasers. For the best results, I typically recommend a series of 3-5 treatments about 1 month apart. Skin care is an important adjunct and I typically advise patients to use Silagen Scar Gel or SkinMedica Scar Recovery Gel in between laser treatments. For areas that are inflamed, we also perform Kenalog (steroid) injections, to bring down inflammation.
