If a patient has a fear of needles but wants Kybella can it be injected through a cannula and is it as
Minimizing Kybella discomfort
Aug 15, 2021
Kybella injections go pretty quickly. I find that patients can be quite comfortable with the application of ice before injecting. Another option is to use a multi-injector, so that multiple injections can be done at the same time.
What expectations should I have from treatment of these acne scars?
No guarantee
Aug 15, 2021
I believe that there are several modalities that can improve your acne scars. However, I would not expect 100% improvement, i.e. completely smooth skin. Treatments include: 1) microdermabrasion, 2) microneedling alone or with radiofrequency, and 3) dissolvable PDO threads.
Is it safe to get filler and Botox 3-5 days after microneedling or non-ablative laser?
Timing of treatments
Nov 21, 2020
Yes! This timing is perfectly fine. However, you would not want to do the reverse/opposite.
Microneedling/non-ablative laser treats the epidermal/superficial layer. Botox treats/paralyzes muscles. Filler treats the subcutaneous layers. After getting treated with filler and/or botox, I would recommend waiting a minimum of two weeks before getting microneedling or non-ablative laser treatment to avoid disturbing the underling subcutaneous layer.
However, you could get microneedling or…
Can I eat after getting Botox around my mouth and lips?
Post Botox Care/Instructions
Nov 21, 2020
I advised my patients to “use their treated muscles” for the rest of the day after receiving Botox, to increase Botox penetration into the treated muscles. Therefore, I would encourage eating after Botox treatment around the mouth. This would help to “get the Botox into the muscles”. This is also why we discourage people from exercising for 24 to 48 hours after receiving Botox treatment. Avoidance of exercise after Botox treatment decreases the dispersement of Botox from the treated area,…
Help? Botox filler or vitamins for this rapidly aging face?
Smile Lines
Nov 21, 2020
I’m assuming that when you say smile lines, you mean the lines under your eyes, because “crows feet” are on the sides of the eyes and easily treated with botox. But, based on the photos that you have includes, I’m assuming that your concern is the lines under your eyes, which are more noticeable when you smile. If you have already had botox in your “crows feet”, this should help somewhat with the lines under your eyes, because you will not be able to “squint” as much. If i were able to…
How to space out Botox after Dysport on jaw area?
Botox versus Dysport in Jaw
Nov 21, 2020
Your decision on when to receive a toxin should be based on how much muscle movement/strength you have. Injecting any neurotoxin, i.e. Botox/Dysport has the same risks because they are both neurotoxins. However, if you want to compare Botox versus Dysport, in my expierence:1) Dysport. Faster onset of action, within 24 hours. However, increased area of spread/dispersion. Therefore, not ideal to use in “11s”, because there is an increased risk of lid drooping. But, great for use in forehead or…
Sagging jowls/ugly jawline- what can I do?
Treatment of sagging jowls with filler, threads, or plasma pen
Nov 21, 2020
There are several non-invasive treatment options for sagging jowls. 1) You mentioned that you already have full cheeks. I use Juvederm voluma along the back lower jawline (just under the ear) to “pull back” and support the sagging jawline. Then, I put finishing touches by injecting Juvederm Voluma along the “sagging jowl” area to provide extra support. 2) You could also consider a PDO threadlift. The insertion site of the threads would be in the temple area, down to the “sagging jowl” area,…
Neck help? How to get rid of lines? Will Botox help?
Botox for neck lines
Nov 21, 2020
Botox works great on neck lines, both horizontal and vertical. If you are talking about the horizontal neck lines, i.e. “necklackes”, botox works well on these lines. I usually inject 10 units per line. I would suggest treating with 10 units just above and just below the two lines, for a total of 20 units. You could also consider threads, specifically superficial smooth/twisted PDO threads. These would stimulate your body’s own collagen.
I’m assuming that you main concern is the horizontal…
Would Botox help to lessen cyst appearance?
Botox works on muscles
Nov 21, 2020
Botox is a neurotoxin that works on your muscles that creates wrinkles. Therefore, if the line between your eyes is more noticeable with facial movements, then botox would help with this line. However, a cyst is a mass in the underlying tissue. Therefore, removal of the cyst could improve how your face looks at rest. But, if there is a new scar left from the cyst removal, this could worsen the existing line and make it look more noticeable. If the cyst is a sebaceous cyst, you need to make…
Is this loose skin or banding underneath the chin?
Loose neck skin
Nov 21, 2020
Without touching/examining your skin in person, it is difficult to determine whether or not your under chin loosesness is due to loose skin or fat. However, if you have already had 2 kybella treatments, I’m assuming that would have treated any extra fat. And, it appears from the way that the skin is draping, that your under chin issues are due to loose/extra skin. The least invasive procedure that I would recommend that you start with is a radiofrequency treatment. This treatment utilizes a…
Ideas for treating my gummy smile?
Botox for a gummy smile
Sep 18, 2020
I think Botox would be a great option to treat your gummy smile. I inject 2 units on either side of the nose. This relaxes the upper lip the perfect amount, so that your gums will not show, but you can show off your beautiful smile. I encourage you to try it. The effects wear off after a few months.
I really need work on my skin that is dark above my lip and age spot. I am interested in Botox
Botox in forehead and frown lines
Sep 18, 2020
I agree that Botox in your forehead and frown lines is a great idea. It will make your skin texture appear smoother and help you look less tired. I suggest also considering undereye fillers, such as volbella.
