Would implants correct my bite and issues?
Underbite & Crossbite (Malocclusion)
Sep 3, 2021
An underbite or crossbite is a malocclusion, meaning the teeth don’t fit together appropriately. This can be due to a dental cause or skeletal cause. Dental malocclusion is essentially just crowding or spacing. Skeletal malocclusion is when the jaws don’t line up appropriately. Its difficult to tell from your pictures, but in your case, it appears that you have a skeletal malocclusion where your jaws don’t fit well and therefore your teeth don’t align. In order to correct this you would…
My labial frenum is off center. Can this be fixed?
Labial Frenum
Sep 3, 2021
The labial frenum is usually at the center of the upper lip. If the fremum has a low attachment it can create at space between the upper two teeth or prevent the closure of a gap with orthodontics. Based on your photos it appears your teeth are off midline to the left. This could be corrected with orthodontics and would likely resolve your soft tissue concerns.

Wisdom Teeth Post-Op
Sep 2, 2021
The recovery time after wisdom tooth removal is 3-7 days depending on the difficulty or level of impaction of the wisdom teeth. The peak of swelling and discomfort is typically 3 days after surgery and then improves. Make sure you follow your doctor’s post-operative instructions and take your medications as prescribed. Although the surgical sites will not be completely healed 2 weeks after the procedure, you will likely be fine to go to the amusement park.
I have a stitch hanging down from my upper gums. Should I be considered for dental implants?
Dental Implants
Sep 2, 2021
While most people are candidates for dental implants, there are dental conditions, medical concerns, and anatomical limitations that may disqualify a patient for dental implant therapy. It is necessary to have a clinical examination with radiographs by an oral surgeon or dentist with implant experience to determine if you are a good candidate.

Based on your question referring to a stitch in your gums, it seems you may have recent dental surgery. The dental professional who performed…

Bad teeth.. Should I get Implants?
Dec 29, 2020
Thank you for your question. Dental implants are a great option to replace missing or failing teeth. However, in most circumstances it’s better to maintain your natural teeth (especially when you are so young). As much as I love removing teeth and placing implants, fillings and crowns can be very long lasting when done well and kept hygienic. It’s important to consult with a dentist you trust and develop a treatment plan that best suits your situation.

What alternative treatments will fix my crowded teeth besides braces or invisalign?
Alternatives to Braces
Dec 29, 2020
Thank you for your question and photo. The only “fix” for your crowded teeth is orthodontics. That can be traditional braces or clear aligners, like Invisalign. Sometimes fixing the crowding may require removing teeth in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. Alternatives like crowns, veneers, or cosmetic dentistry would only the mask the underlying problem. In your case, I don’t think this would be a good option. Implants replace missing teeth not crowded teeth. I would recom…

What is the best route for someone with no neck crease and barely a jawline to have more definition?
Apr 15, 2020
It seems you have some concern about your chin however the underlying issue to your concern is your neck not your chin. Based on your photos I would consider submental (under chin) liposuction and platysmaplasty (neck lift). Mandibular angle implants could give you more jawline definition. I would caution against chin implants as they tend to broaden your chin, decrease definition, and will actually make your problem worse. Ultimately,…

How long does It take for the holes to cover and to be able to eat normal food after wisdom teeth removal?
Apr 15, 2020
It takes approximately 6 weeks for the 3rd molar tooth sockets to fill in with gum tissue. They heal from the bottom up so it is normal to have a “divot” in the gum tissue for a month or two after surgery. You can eat anything you like that is comfortable. I recommend avoiding hard, crunchy foods with lots of bits and crumbs, like chips, nuts, cereal until the sockets are closed and avoid straws for the 1st week after surgery.

28 years old with wisdom teeth
Apr 15, 2020
Removal of wisdom teeth is a very common procedure even at 28 years old. You should have an evaluation with a board certified oral surgeon who can give you further recommendations about your particular situation and treatment recommendations.
Can you get rid of an impacted canine without braces or Invisalign?
Can you get rid of an impacted canine without braces or Invisalign?
Mar 6, 2020
Thank you for your question. Your best option would certainly be orthodontics, whether traditional braces or clear aligners like Invisalign. I would not recommend removing your canine as it is important for occlusal structure and chewing function. This would not be a good choice. There is not enough space for an implant the same as there is reduced space for your natural canine. Any kind of restorative or prosthodontic fix will not look…
Can i get wisdom teeth implants and how long is it going to take to be done?
Can i get wisdom teeth implants and how long is it going to take to be done?
Mar 6, 2020
Dental implants at wisdom tooth sites are almost never recommended. Except in a very unique or rare situation would an 3rd molar implant ever be indicated. This would be an expensive and unnecessary treatment without benefit. Additionally, it is not without risk. Wisdom teeth do not support facial volume or youthfulness. Having your wisdom teeth removed would not be related to changes in youthfulness that express…
What are the best solutions for changing the color of capped teeth?
What are the best solutions for changing the color of capped teeth?
Mar 6, 2020
Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done to whiten dental crowns except replace them. The porcelain is made at a specific color or shade that doesn’t change. Bleaching, whitening, etc is not effective on porcelain like it is on natural teeth. If you want to change the color of the crowns, unfortunately you will have to replace them.

What is the likelihood that not getting an implant for an upper second molar will affect facial structure?
Mar 6, 2020
I would agree with what you were told. Although implants can be placed at 2nd molar sites, they are usually not necessary. Most of the chewing forces are on the 1st molars so chewing function is not changed too much if missing a 2nd molar. The 2nd molar is far enough back in mouth that it is very unlikely affect facial support or structure if missing. Losing the tooth will not collapse your face or age you. That being said,…
Will Botox injections before a temporal brow lift affect my results in a negative way?
Botox before brow lift
Mar 6, 2020
The simple answer is to check with your surgeon. Many surgeons have different preferences. I prefer to pre-treat my patients with Botox before brow surgeries but there are others that don’t. Just make sure you check with your surgeon about what he or she recommends for you.
Extraction caused me a facial asymmetry, what’s the best solution for my case?
Facial asymmetry from dental extraction
Feb 14, 2020
Thank you for the question. Your situation does not sound normal. It is not normal to have facial asymmetry after a dental extraction, including a difficult wisdom tooth. The reasons for facial asymmetry would be residual post-op swelling, infection, or even jaw fracture. Bone grafts and implants will not address any of these problems and are rarely recommended at wisdom tooth sites. I would recommend returning to your…
