Answer Snippet
Does my tear trough filler need dissolving? 5 weeks post-op.
Tear trough filler
Feb 15, 2020
In most cases the discoloration from bruising will be resolved by 5 weeks. From your photos, it appears that the filler is visible through the skin – a phenomenon called the Tyndall effect. This can be better determined by in-person examination. If this is the case, I recommend dissolving the filler with hyaluronidase. You can then decide with your injector if further tear trough injections should be done. PRP/PRFM can also be used with or without filler in this area to…
What is the best type of filler in USA for adding volume to cheeks. I have a long face and almost
Adding volume to cheeks
Feb 15, 2020
The fillers I most commonly use for this purpose are Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft. Both are hyaluronic acid filler and are – in expert hands – safe and effective. Your results are highly dependent on the expertise and judgement of your injector so be sure to consult with an experienced board-certified provider who can help you achieve your goals. Best of luck!
Filler in cheek or directly in nasolabial fold or both to correct nasolabial fold (on one side)?
Filler to correct prominent nasolabial fold
Feb 15, 2020
Hi, thanks for your question! Based on your photos you appear to be an excellent candidate for filler augmentation to soften the right nasolabial fold. If placed in the correct plane, an injection directly beneath the fold is most effective. There are various techniques for doing this using a needle or bunt cannula. I would be cautious with placing filler into the cheek as this could potentially accentuate the fold if placed incorrectly. Best of luck!
What is the best injectable filler for undereye hollows?
Under eye filler
Feb 15, 2020
My preferred filler for the area around the eye is restylane L. This can be used to treat the under and sometimes the upper eye hollow. In expert hands, it is safe and effective. I almost always use blunt cannulas to minimize the chance of intravascular injection. This should only be done by a board certified, experienced injector.
I have bruised from Restylane before. Will Juvederm cause the same bruising?
Bruising with filler injection
Feb 15, 2020
Thanks for your question! Bruising can happen with any filler injection, regardless of brand. There are several things the patient can do to prepare for injection. Stopping all “blood thinning” medications and supplements 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoiding alcohol 1-2 days prior may help. Icing the area immediately prior to injection and using blunt cannulas along with good technique can also decrease the chance of bruising.
Do you think tear trough filler will work on my eyes and which is best?
Tear Trough Filler
Feb 15, 2020
You appear to be a great candidate for filler in the tear trough. Restylane L is my preferred material in this area. Sometimes I will combine this with PRP. In expert hands, this procedure is low risk. Injection into a blood vessel resulting in blindness is an unlikely complication but has been reported. This is minimized with meticulous technique and the use of a blunt cannula. As filler is a temporary solution, consider lower eye blepharoplasty with a board-certified facial…
Am I a candidate for liquid rhino?
Liquid rhinoplasty
Feb 15, 2020
Filler in the nose, or liquid rhinoplasty can be a good, temporary solution for some patients. In your case, you could achieve some improvement in the appearance of the bump along your nasal bridge. The result would likely not be equivalent to a surgical result because with filler you can only strategically add height above and below the bump. In experienced hands, a trial of filler can be done safely.
Nostrils are very asymmetrical. I am 52 and I feel it gets worse everyday. Would surgery help thi
Asymmetric nose
Feb 15, 2020
Based on your photos, the cartilage that supports your nose has been over-resected. This is often done in an attempt to make the nose “smaller” or “more defined”, but can leave the nose with poor support, asymmetry and often worse breathing. In your case the only way to improve this problem is rhinoplasty from a board-certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon who specializes in difficult revision rhinoplasty. Cartilage from the ear or rib will be needed to reconstruct the support…
How could I make my face more symmetrical, feminine and youthful?
Facial Fillers
Feb 12, 2020
Hi, thanks for the question and for providing your photos. Under eye enhancement with Filler with or without PRFM (Platelet rich fibrin matrix) can give you a natural, non-surgical improvement. You have minor brow asymmetry which may be treated with careful use of a neuromodulator (such as Botox). Lip augmentation with a hyaluronic acid filler would help soften and feminize your look. Best of luck!

Is it safe to layer lip fillers?
Layering lip filler
Sep 16, 2019
Hi, thanks for your question! It is not uncommon to need a touch up after the initial injection has settled. It is perfectly acceptable to have more filler injected by someone who is well trained. It’s best to start with 1 syringe and gradually add to achieve your ideal result.
I have crooked columella 24 days after rhinoplasty. Will it be this way permanently?
Columella following rhinoplasty
Aug 13, 2019
Thanks for the photos, which do show a leftward slant to the columella. The person who would know best what was done during surgery is your rhinoplasty surgeon. It may be helpful to go over your before and after photos with him or her to see what changes have occurred. If this asymmetry remains and it still bothers you in the future, it can almost certainly be improved by revision surgery. You are still early in healing, and I hope things have improved since your original post!
Could I have a closed rhino or will a nose filler look good with my nose?
Rhinoplasty is the better option in your case
Aug 13, 2019
Thanks for the question! It is natural to want a solution that minimize risk, cost and downtime. However, if you are looking to make your nose appear smaller and to make the bony dorsum a less prominent facial feature, filler in the nose (liquid rhinoplasty) is not the answer. A closed rhinoplasty is an option for you, but you should discuss your goals with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who can recommend the best technique to get you the result you want. Best of luck!
I have an orange peel chin. What can be done to fix this?
Botox to treat orange peel chin
Oct 8, 2017
Great question! Since your orange peel chin is caused by repeated contraction of the mentalis (chin) muscle, this problem is best treated by small injections of Botox to gently relax this muscle. Over time, this treatment can greatly improve or eliminate the small dimples on your chin, and it is likely that treatments will be needed less and less over time. Hope this helps!
