Can I have a Jessner and 20% TCA peel performed a couple days after after receiving Covid-19 vaccin
Wait 2 weeks for any procedure after a COVID vaccine
May 7, 2021
During the period following this vaccine, there is a stimulation of the immune system. This could cause an overreaction to the peel or any procedure for that matter. Also, most of the side effects of the vaccine occur in the first 2 weeks. The process of completing most of the immune stimulation occurs in 2 weeks. I would wait until after that as any procedure requires healing, which is intricately involved with immune function.
How to Tell Between Keloid or Hypertrophic Scarring on Cartilage Piercing?
Raised Scars Respond Well to Combination Injections
Sep 8, 2019
Injection of cortisone into raised scars was always helpful but frequently needed multiple injections or caused side effects.  In the last few years, I have been using combination injections with cortisone and 5-fluorouracil ( a chemotherapy that reduces cell growth) and hylaruonidase (which helps it spread).  I have found this combination (we dub it the “triple threat” in our office) really works well, with both fewer treatments and fewer side effects. If it is a keloid, there is a hig…
1 or 2 CoolSculpt applicator for small lower abdomen pouch?
Tough to answer without physical exam, but need full power for results with Coolsculpting
Sep 8, 2019
This is tough to answer without physical exam, but if you say the pouch is small, then a large applicator wouldn’t usually be needed.  It is very very uncommon to see a demarcation from 2 applicators on the abdomen, if they are overlapped correctly.  I usually prefer the 2 applicators to 1 large, unless there is a large area to debulk.  You really need full power for results with Coolsculpting.
What can be done to reduce excessive muscle and tissue in the lower jaw?
You can shape the jawline with Fillers and Neuromodulators (Botox)
Sep 8, 2019
First of all, you do not have “So much fat and muscle and tissue on my chin”, I think your chin is very attractive with the middle dimple.  I would have to examine you, but using neuromodulator in the masseters (translation Botox in the chewing muscles) can help narrow the face.  A bit of filler in the upper cheek along the cheek bone will help to lift the jawline and create a sleeker look.  And a bit of filler in the chin would help, only because on the side profile, the chin doesn’t pr…
Sculptra vs Ultherapy for jowliness and face shape —what would you suggest?
Ultherapy for jowls, Sculptra for “Gaunt”
Sep 8, 2019
I agree that both would give you a nice result, but sympathize with your budgetary concerns.  This is a common issue for dermatologists; the combo procedure would be best but not practical.  The Sculptra will create volume in the cheeks, reducing the “gauntness” that you complain of. If done artfully, the shape of your face should be improved to a more “upside down egg” or oval shape, which is more youthful.  Also, it should lift to a degree and give you a less jowly look.  However, ulth…
What is recommended to treat alcohol flush reaction?
Rosacea can cause flushing with alcohol
Dec 12, 2018
A condition called rosacea can cause the face to flush after drinking alcohol. It is a condition where the blood vessels in the face become more reactive to various stimuli like hot or spicy food, alcoholic beverages  and exercise. People with rosacea tend to flush more easily and more intensely than others and the flushing can last much longer. Sometimes the redness is present even without any other stimulation. There are multiple medical treatments for this condition as well as laser tre…
Can cheek fillers lift drooping jowls?
Cheek Fillers can help to lift jowls
Dec 12, 2018
Well placed cheek filler can help to lift the jowls.  If you look in the mirror and pull your cheek up at the corner under your eye, you will see an improvement in your jowl. While filler cannot correct to this degree, artfully placing a robust filler deep in the proper areas along the cheek bone can improve the heaviness of the jowl.  I also usually put some less dense and more pliable filler in the pre-jowl sulcus, which is the area in front of the jowl, to make the contour of the j…
What are the side effects of truSculpt iD?
Tenderness in the Treatment Area
Aug 17, 2018
The most common side effect is tenderness in the treatment area which may last up to 2 weeks. There is also the possibility of heat induced skin abrasion but it is extremely uncommon.
What doctors are qualified to administer TruSculpt ID?
Certified and Trained by Cutera
Aug 17, 2018
You should make sure that the practice and clinician who is performing the treatment has been certified by Cutera – They should have a training certificate from Cutera specifically for the truSculpt iD device.
What is the difference between truSculpt iD and truSculpt 3D?
Same Technology New Platform – Hands-Free Automated Operation
Aug 17, 2018
TruSculpt iD is really just the name of the new platform that includes the 3D but adds the additional capability to treat multiple area simultaneously – hands-free, which enables the treatment to be twice as fast as doing a hands-on 3D treatment.
For highly contoured or other small areas the iD still has the 3D and small applicators that can still be used just like before for hands-on treatments.
TruSculpt ID – When will I see results?
Time to see Results
Aug 17, 2018
Most patients report that they start to see results around the 6 week mark. However in both our studies  and clinical experience with the device we see the best results are seen between 12 and 16 weeks.
What is the difference between CoolSculpting and laser lipo treatments?
Laser Liposuction and Coolsculpting are very different methods of reducing fat
Apr 8, 2018
Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that requires anesthesia, whereas coolsculpting does not. Laser liposuction uses a metal probe to deliver heat under the skin to melt the fat and also may tighten the skin, if the heating is used under the skin as well.  The option to remove the fat via liposuction also exists.  Coolsculpting has a handpiece that sits on the skin and uses suction to put the skin and fat into applicator.  The cooling over time causes some of the fat cel…
Chemical peel or laser treatment for acne scarring?
Lasers are better than chemical peels for acne scarring
Dec 9, 2017
Lasers are better for acne scarring then chemical peels. Scars are typically deeper in the skin then the chemical peel can treat. The chemical peel works by sitting on the surface and causing the surface skin to peel off; this generates some wound healing deeper but only secondarily.  The fractional lasers or radio frequency devices can penetrate as deeply as the scar and also heal safely (provided they are done properly for the skin type, etc.  Either chemical peels or lasers can result in…
Looking for good doctor in Chicago who is specialized on Sculptra?
Sculptra Vs. Voluma for facial rejuvenation
Dec 9, 2017
Both Voluma and Sculptra are good options for facial rejuvenation and they are not mutually exclusive, either. I tend to use Sculptra for hollow cheeks, as it can achieve a smooth contour when a lot of volume is necessary, which is typically the case for the hollow of the cheek.  This is both more economical and more aesthetically pleasing.  I use Voluma for structure, for instance for lifting the cheeks (which in men can typically sag under the eyes and create a large nasolabial fold).  …
Will I be a good candidate for Botox in Masseter muscles?
Yes, you are a good candidate for toxin injection into the masseter muscles
Dec 9, 2017
Injection of the masseter muscles with botulinum toxin has a slimming effect on the face, as well as helping people who grind their teeth or have tension headaches from gritting their teeth. This is a very popular treatment in Asia, where genetically the face tends to be a bit wider above the jawline.  You are really a perfect candidate for the treatment, and it should have a nice contouring effect on your face.  In my practice, I approach this slowly, meaning I would put 10 U into each m…
