What is the best way to get rid of the acne scars on my temple?
Treatment for acne scarring on temple
Feb 9, 2019
Thank you for providing photos.  You can have localized treatment of those scars with filler.  There are many to choose from and most will help, but there is a filler called Bellafill that I think would work best for these pictured in your photo.  It is a longer lasting filler and has FDA approval for acne scarring.  You can do laser resurfacing afterward to get even more improvements.  Bellafill will take a few treatments (usually 3 or so) and has very little downtime.  Good luck.
I had Botox 4 days ago. Is it okay to take Clindamycin hcl 300mg?
Botox and antibiotics
Jan 29, 2019
Great question.  The antibiotics with the botox is not dangerous to your health, they can be used together.  You should call your botox provider and let them know that you will be taking the antibiotics for the dental infection so they are aware.  Make sure to take the antibiotics at the full dose prescribed to clear your infection as this is way more important than the botox.  Lastly, it is possible for antibiotics to decrease the effectiveness of botox and clindamycin is one of those....
I have very little Voluma left, How long should I wait till it dissolves naturally?
Voluma resolution
Jan 29, 2019
Thank you for your question.  A picture would be helpful, but in general Voluma is FDA approved for 2 years.  So, it is possible that what is left will naturally dissolve over 2 years.  It could be faster or slower, but this product is designed to last.
Is there any other treatments that could help with this kind of scarring?
Ice pick acne scarring treatments
Jan 28, 2019
Thank you for your question, ice pick acne scarring is a difficult problem.  CO2 or Erbium laser resurfacing is the standard of care but if you do not improve with the 5 treatments of fractional, you could consider a more aggressive option with full CO2 resurfacing of that area in the operating room.  This would require seeing a plastic surgeon that does this.  Another method that has worked for people is TCA Cross method.  This is a TCA peel that is placed on a sharp qtip like ins...
Hazel Eyes and Latisse/Bimatoprost? Do you think with my eye color I would be safe to use it?
Latisse and Hazel Eyes
Jan 28, 2019
This is a great question.  Hazel eyes are susceptible to color change with Latisse even if you are only applying it to the lash line because some will get into your eye.  The risk is likely lower with the lash line application than with the larger amount placed directly into the eye for glaucoma but it is real for patients with hazel eyes.  It is not a problem for blue eyes as blue eyes are blue because of reflection and have no pigment.  Brown eyes also do not have a problem, just the haz...
What Can I Do with This Wrinkle on my Forehead?
Lines on the Glabella
Jan 28, 2019
Thank you for your question.  Those lines are from your corrugators and procerus muscles contracting between your brows.  Your best options would be one of the neuromodulators: Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin.  You will need treatments every 3-4 months, but if you keep it up for about a year that line should smooth away.
Is there a filler injection method/technique to prevent blindness from filler injected into t
Can you prevent blindness from filler?
Jan 25, 2019
This is a great question, thank you for asking.  The highest risk areas for blindness are near the eye and nose, but cases have been reported from injection all over the face, lips, jaw line, NL folds, etc...The best way to prevent is to do your research and get an experienced injector, which it seems like you are doing a great job of.  There is not a specific resource for non-physician providers, but you can go to American Academy of Dermatology website or American Society of Plastic S...
Would CoolSculpting work? What are your suggestion for treatments?
Coolsculpting
Jan 25, 2019
Coolsculpting will work to decrease the fat deposit that you have in that area but will likely not give you the tightening of the overlying skin that you need and want.  To remove that excess skin a tummy tuck would be ideal but you could also try RFAL or radiofrequency assisted liposuction/BodyTite.  This procedure removes the excess fat with liposuction and tightens the skin about 30-35%.  You should see a board certified plastic surgeon in your area that provides both BodyTite and Co...
What is the best option for getting rid of a little stubborn belly fat: Emsculpt, CoolSculpti
Coolsculpting vs Lipo vs Emsculpt
Jan 25, 2019
Thank you for providing photos.  It appears that you would benefit from Coolsculpting or Liposuction from the photos.  Both will reduce fat, but Lipo is a surgical procedure that is done in one procedure while Coolsculpting is done while you are awake in the office with no incisions.  Seeing a board certified plastic surgeon in your area will help you decide.
I am at my target weight goal and I am having trouble losing my belly fat, would CoolSculptin
Coolsculpting for Belly Fat
Jan 25, 2019
Thank you for providing a photo.  From the picture it does appear you would be a good candidate for Coolsculpting.  There are other options including liposuction and RFAL (radiofrequency assisted liposuction or BodyTite).  RFAL/BodyTite will give you the added benefit of 30-35% tightening of the skin which is beneficial for most women after children or age >40.  Look for a board certified plastic surgeon in your area that performs all three, plain lipo, RFAL/BodyTite, and Coolsculping and...
When will MiraDry be available to treat other areas than the underarms?
miraDry for more than armpits
Jan 25, 2019
Currently miraDry is available only for axilla (armpits), but there have been circulating rumors about hands coming for years.  As it always takes years for the FDA to approve new things I would advise looking into different options for now such as drysol, iontophoresis, and botox with your Board Certified Dermatologist.  There are options available to you while you are waiting.  Hope this helps.
How can I get rid of under eye /upper cheek crease? Is it a festoon/malar bag?
Eyelid/Upper cheek crease
Mar 9, 2018
Thank you for your question.  This area is a common area for volume loss.  The lower part of the "crease" can be treated with a thicker filler like Voluma while the part of the crease closer to the eye will need a thinner filler like Volbella or Restylane.  Please see a provider with experience injecting around the eyes as this area has a very small margin for error.  That being said, my patients love having this corrected and the results usually last well past a year.
How can I smooth out my under eye wrinkles without going bankrupt on products and/or treatmen
Wrinkles under eyes
Mar 9, 2018
Thank you for your question.  If you could provide a photo we could be more specific about your situation, but in general collagen stimulation with topicals like retinoids and growth factors (TNS eye cream) and skin resurfacing with erbium or CO2 laser resurfacing would help under eye wrinkling.  Topicals take longer to work but are less expensive and do not have any downtime.  Laser resurfacing can be more expensive and requires some recovery.  Hopefully this helps!  Dr. Jen
After Kybella, I feel liquid in my jaw, advice? 3 days p.o.
Kybella swelling
Mar 9, 2018
Thank you for your question.  After Kybella it is common to have some swelling.  That swelling can at times feel like fluid or thicker sensation.  As you are 3 days out, this would be from the Kybella usually.  Swelling can be improved with ice and time.  If this remains a concern or gets worse please see your provider.
Did I just get ripped off?
Dysport Results
Mar 1, 2018
Thank you for your question.  It looks like you have gotten some good inhibition from your photos but may need a bit more over your left eye if you like complete inhibition of the muscles.   Full inhibition can take up to 2 weeks.  Make a follow-up appointment with your provider after that time if you would like more.  Some patients like to have movement and some do not, so let them know your preference when you return.  Hope this helps! -Dr. Jen
