Can Botox Give You A Brow Lift?
Yes, some muscles of the upper face lift the brow and some lower the brow.
If we weaken the muscles that lower the brow a modest elevation will occur. It is a nice lift and will give you an idea of what a brow lift can do for you.
In addition, weakening the muscles that pull your brow and lateral eyelids down is helpful to maintain the results of your browlift. (Hannah Vargas, MD, Kansas City Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is commonly used to give a little lift to the eyebrows. It is done by carefully injecting muscles that pull the brow down.
By relaxing those muscles it has the effect of lifting the brow.
It can be a nice refreshed and natural looking lift without surgery but does not really replace the need for an actual brow lift for people who have very heavy brows. (Quenby Erickson, DO, FAAD, FACMS, Chicago Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox injections can give a modest lateral brow elevation
The lateral orbicularis muscle (muscle around the eyes involved with squinting) is a depressor of the lateral brow. Paralyzing this portion of the muscle allows the brow elevators to have a greater effect on brow position. (York Jay Yates, MD, Salt Lake City Plastic Surgeon)
Botox brow lift is obtained by selectively weakening the muscles that pull your brows down. Botox will weaken the depressors and let the brow elevators act without opposition. This allows the elevators to give you that nice lift.
The results are subtle lifting of the tail of the brow. Usually a 2 to 4 mm difference can be seen. It it is a subtle difference, but it can really make a nice improvement in how open the eye looks and how you apply your eye makeup.
This is one of my favorite botox procedures! (Myriam Loyo, MD, Portland Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox treatments to lift the brow
Botulinum toxin can indeed be used to give a subtle lift to the edge of the eyebrow by relaxing the muscles that pull the corner of the eyebrow down. There are a number of muscles acting on the eyebrow so it’s not always achievable and with age generally bringing increasing heaviness to the eyebrow, the Botulinum toxin is working against gravity and will not always win.
If you do receive a lift from the injections it will be subtle and no more than a couple of millimetres of lift. It is a treatment that is worth trying for a simple brow lift but if no result is achieved, or no really visible result is achieved, you should not be too disappointed. (Tracy Mountford, MBBS, London Physician)
Botox lift
A botox lift works in properly selected patients by inhibiting the muscles around or slightly below your brow to allow the muscles above your brow to elevate unimpeded. In most of my Botox patients I perform a “Hollywood lift” on the lateral brow to give a modest upturn to the lateral most portion of the brow.
Many times we combine this will a filler such as Juviderm to give a nice elevation without surgery. It is important to realize that these procedures are temporary and in many cases do not approach the results obtainable with a surgical brow lift. (Robert Steely, MD, FACS, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Balance
This is all about balance. There are muscles that depress the brow (corrugators, orbicularis and procerus) and there are muscles that lift the brow (frontalis). You can google images of all of these. So we use botox to paralyze the muscles that depress the brow and this then allows the brow elevators to compensate and give a slight elevation. (Benjamin Caughlin, MD, Chicago Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox results depend on amount and placement.
Botox results depend on amount and placement. If Botox is injected incorrectly or if too much is injected, it can cause the brows to droop. However, when placed carefully in the muscles that pull the eyebrows down, it can relax these muscles so that the brow is lifted slightly, which opens up the eye area and gives a brighter, more awake appearance. (Mary E. Hurley, MD, Dallas Dermatologist)
Botox Brow Lift
Botox works by relaxing muscles in the face. Some muscles pull down on the brow whereas different muscles pull the brow up. If you use Botox to relax the muscles which pull the brow down, it is possible to get a mild but real elevation of the brow.
Typically this is done by injecting a small amount of Botox at the lateral brow near the temple. Injections must be precise to avoid any problems in this area. I use this injection on a daily basis to provide a brow lift for my patients. (Richard Ort, MD, Lone Tree Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox or Chemical Brow Lift.
The crows feet (the lateral Obicularis muscle), are the strongest depressor of the lateral brow. Relaxing the crows feet with Botox, especially the upper crows feet, will allow the lateral brow to rise up just a few millimeters.
This can give a nice, refreshing look. There is a limit as to how high the brow can be lifted. Just a few millimeters, no more. Most patients like the effect. (Luke J. Curtsinger, MD, Savannah Plastic Surgeon)
The Botox Brow Lift
A Botox (Brow) Lift is the injection of Botox into the eyebrow region to cause the eyebrow to lift upwards. There is a muscle that elevates the eyebrow and another that depresses the brow. Injecting the muscle which pulls down the eyebrow weakens that muscle.
The muscle which pulls up the eyebrow therefore has no counter traction and pulls up the eyebrow a couple of millimeters. This elevation of the eyebrow gives a more refreshed look for some patients and the results can last up to 3 months.
If this technique is performed improperly, the opposite effect can happen and the eyebrows can droop. Please make sure your doctor is familiar with this anatomical region in order to achieve the best results. (James R. Gordon, MD, FACS, FAAO, New York Oculoplastic Surgeon)
A Botox Lift With No Downtime
The muscles in the face which pull down the eyebrows and lift the eyebrows can be injected with Botox giving the look of a brow lift. An injector will inject just the muscles that pull down thus giving the lift to the brows.
This will have the ability to give the eyes a more open look. Most people who have a Botox lift will feel and see a noticeable improvement. (David L. Robbins, MD, FACS, West Des Moines Plastic Surgeon)
Botox brow lift
The muscles of facial expression not only pull your facial features upward but also downward. Weakening the muscles of the brow that pull it downward allows the reciprocal muscle to pull the brow further upward thereby giving a lift effect.
This is usually done in conjunction with a filler, and gives a very nice yet temporary result. (Mark A. Schusterman, MD, FACS, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Botox Browlift
The “Botox browlft” is a technique that uses the muscle-weakening effects of Botox to change the dynamics of the forehead and eyelids muscles. By selectively weakening the upper and outer portion of the upper eyelid muscles, the tension of the forehead muscle results in a slight elevation of the eyebrow.
In most patients, the effect is subtle. For some, however, this can give a significant change in brow position (almost like a surgical correction, but temporary). (Evan Ransom, MD, FACS, Bay Area Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox if injected properly can often create a chemical brow lift in most patients
Botox if injected properly can often create a chemical brow lift in most patients. Botox acts by weakening the muscles that cause frowning and scowling. If botox is used to treat the depressor muscles of the forehead that cause scowling or frowning and the other forehead muscles on the side are left alone, this will often result in arching or raising of the eyebrows especially where they tend to hang over the outer aspects of the eyelids.
This is especially a positive feature in females who often like their eyebrows to arch upwards. Additional elevation of the eyebrows can be achieved by placing some botox just under the lateral edges of the eyebrows as well once again leaving the upper outside part of the eyebrow muscles alone.
The results are variable and some patients will get more of a lifting effect than others depending upon their eyebrow position and heaviness of their eyes. Too much botox as you noted can result in the eyebrows drooping also.
In either case, the maximum duration of effect for brow lifting is about 3-6 months depending upon the individual. (Scott Trimas, MD, Jacksonville Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox lift: Botox weakens the muscle that pull your eyebrows down
This allows your muscles that elevate your eyebrows to work with less inhibition. This is how the Botox brow lift works. Botox weakens the muscles between your eyes and around your eyes to allow the frontalis muscle to lift the eyebrows up more.
It takes experience to do this but knowing where to put the botox can make a huge difference with the results. (Philip Young, MD, Bellevue Facial Plastic Surgeon)
