Botox Salt Lake City: Cost And Before & After Photos
An effective way to correct wrinkles or what is Botox?
Today it is hard to find such a person who does not know what Botox is (in general terms), because this drug has very valuable properties. It causes relaxation of active muscles (due to the presence of a special neurotoxin in its composition), leads to smoothing of wrinkles and skin fractures, blocks excess activity of sweat glands and treats chronic headaches (migraines).
The mechanism of action of the drug and indications for using Botox is a preparation based on botulinum toxin type A, which can block the transmission of nerve impulses and thereby smooth out wrinkles (produced by the pharmaceutical company Allergan Inc., USA).
Botulinum toxin type A is a toxic substance of a protein nature that is produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It is able to block the transmission of nerve impulses, and it is on this property that the possibility of its use in medicine is based.
When ingested, the toxin blocks the synthesis of acetylcholine (neurotransmitter) in the region of the neuromuscular synapse, resulting in a temporary paralyzing of the muscle.
It does not cause damage to the nerve, but only blocks its functional activity, that is, its introduction into the facial muscles of the face, which on one side are attached to the bone, and the other to the skin (they are responsible for displaying emotions) leads to their paralysis, which contributes to the complete relaxation of the face and smoothing of wrinkles.
It looks like this:
- the toxin molecule forms a connection with the nerve of the motor muscle;
- The nerve absorbs the toxin and blocks the release of acetylcholine;
- the nerve ending releases new processes;
- there is the formation of new synapses and the restoration of the muscle.
Muscle paralysis occurs in a few hours, but the final absorption of botulinum toxin by nerve endings occurs within three days, so the effect can be seen only a few days after the injection.
The maximum effect of Botox treatment will be noticeable in a few weeks, but it depends on the dose of the drug (the more it is, the faster the effect will be visible) and the face structure of the patient.
Over time, the appearance of new nerve endings around the motor nerve, which is responsible for the formation of new synapses (places for impulse transmission), and this excludes the development of muscle atrophy. The appearance of new synapses takes about six months, respectively, the effect will be visible from 6 to 12 months, after this time the procedure is recommended to be repeated. To obtain a continuous effect, the procedure must be repeated every six months.
The main indications for injections of the drug:
- horizontal wrinkles of the forehead;
- fold between the eyebrows;
- “Oblique” wrinkles of the nose bridge;
- “Crow’s feet”;
- horizontal and vertical neck wrinkles;
- nasolabial folds;
- correction of the form and smoothing of the lips;
- treatment of hyperhidrosis (sweating);
- treatment of migraine.
Preparation and stages of the procedure
This procedure requires mandatory preparation. One day before it can not be:
- drinking alcohol;
- go to the sauna or massage;
- bend down (even the simplest ones, such as washing floors or fitting shoes).
One week before the procedure stop taking antibiotics, which can both reduce the effect of Botox, and increase it (which can lead to complete paralysis of the muscles), as well as anticoagulants. Anticoagulants invoke the appearance of bruises at the injection sites of botulinum toxin.
The procedure consists of the following steps:
- obtaining a written permission from the client for the procedure;
- the definition of the zones in which it is necessary to introduce the drug;
- anesthesia of the injection site with ice or a special cream (the procedure is painful, but the pain indicator for each patient will be individual);
- injection of the drug in the intended zones;
- treatment of the skin with an antiseptic.
After injections, the patient should not leave the clinic for about an hour, at this time he is given advice on what can not be done after Botox, namely:
- lie down (about 4 hours);
- take drugs that dilute blood (2 days);
- strain the muscles into which the toxin was injected;
- apply make-up (2 days);
- tilt, lift weights (day);
- after Botox, you can not visit the sauna, solarium, sauna (two weeks);
- take alcohol (a week), do not smoke (if possible).
In what muscles the drugs are injected?
In cosmetology practice, preparations based on botulinum toxin are introduced into the target muscles:
- m.frontalis – frontal, located in its upper part;
- m.corrugator supercilii – the muscle that wrinkles the forehead;
- m.orbicularis oculi – circular muscle of the eye;
- m.procerus – muscle on the back of the nose;
- m.nasalis – nasal;
- m.depressor anguli oris – a muscle that lowers the corner of the mouth;
- m.mentalis – the chin muscle;
- platisma is the neck muscle.
Botox in the forehead
To eliminate the longitudinal and vertical creases on the forehead, Botox should be inserted into the frontal muscle and into the one that wrinkles the eyebrow. After the procedure, all wrinkles and eyebrow lifting are smoothed out.
Botox injections under the eyes
The toxin is injected only into that area of the eye muscle, which is located at the outer corner of the eye.
This helps to eliminate the “crow’s feet” and makes the look more open.
Glabellar frown line
Injections are made into the muscle of the nose, usually they are combined with the introduction of botulinum toxin into the forehead.
Nasolabial folds
This area is rarely corrected with Botox, since after it the corners of the mouth may drop. In connection with these Botox injected into nasolabial folds in minimum doses, and if necessary, carry out a correction (3-4 weeks).
BOTOX for lip wrinkles
The drug is injected along the lip contour line to the places where the wrinkles are most concentrated. Botox injections help make the bend of the lips smooth and slightly raise their corners, increase the volume of lips with Botox will not succeed.
Neck
The injection of Botox into the neck muscle makes it possible to make it natural and eliminate wrinkles. This procedure also serves as an excellent prophylaxis for sagging the cheeks, since the immobilized muscle ceases to pull them down.
Botox in the armpits
Before the introduction of the drug, the doctor makes a Minor test that allows you to determine the location of the sweat glands and their activity, after which the injection is made directly into the zone of the sweat gland.
The effect of treatment of hyperhidrosis by Botox in this case will consist in the fact that it will block the secretion of perspiration for about six months, after which the activity of the sweat glands will be restored.
Botox injections in the treatment of migraine
The mechanism of action of botulinum toxin in the treatment of migraine is not fully understood, but scientists believe that it blocks the release of mediators of pain and depresses peripheral sensitization.
Treatment of migraine with Botox injections helps only people with chronic headaches, the introduction of Botox to a healthy person, with periodic headaches, will not give an effect.
In conclusion, it can be said that scientists are conducting research into the use of Botox for the treatment of scarring. But while they do not give positive results, so that mankind is satisfied with the effects that it already has.
