Botox Lasting Effects
Botox will typically last 3 to 4 months, although some of our patients have had it last as long as 6 months. Most patients find that the more they have Botox treatments, the longer it lasts.
This is also true for dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, etc. (William J. Hedden, MD, Birmingham Plastic Surgeon)
Botox can last many months
My average patient gets benefit from Botox for 3 to 4 months although I have a rare patient who gets 6 months to even a year. Within limits if the dose of Botox is too low the effects will not last as long. (Susan Van Dyke, MD, Paradise Valley Dermatologic Surgeon)
The effects of Botox lasts 3-4 months for most patients
Although, I do have several patients that the effects last longer especially if they have been using Botox for years. The effects for Botox for hyperhidrosis last 6-12 months. (Steven E. Rasmussen, MD, FAAD, Austin Dermatologist)
Botox should last 3 months. The reason why …
Botox should last 3 months assuming an adequate number of units were properly injected at the initial treatment.
Certain patients require higher (or lower) doses than others and this can be optimized over time. (Stephen Weber, MD, FACS, Denver Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox usually lasts between 3- 5 months
Most patients come 2-3 times a year to have their Botox injections. Some patients are lucky and they “forget” to use their treated muscles even after the Botox has worn off. They stop the injections and still have the positive effect.
The more units of Botox your dermatologist uses, the longer the effect usually lasts . Some patients report shorter duration of effect during times of illness, stress or intense physical activity. (Robert Kasten, MD, Mainz Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox duration of effect
Most of the doctors responding to how long does Botox work have reported a range of 2 to 4 months for Botox.
It really does vary with the dose used, your anatomy, metablosim and how deep and where the product is injected.
The main point is that this is not a permanent solution and the effects will wwear off in a matter of months. The really important thing to remember is that just because you have regained some movement does not mean you have no effect.
The muscle slowly recovers its strength and so it may be months until you are able to make the crease or line again. Once you can crease the area again it is time to have another injection.
Note that studies have shown that repeat injections does result in the ability to delay the treatment intervals.
For example, if you are treated at 4 month intervals you may notice that it may 6 to 8 months before needing another treatment. (Shawn Allen, MD, Boulder Dermatologist)
Botox lasts 3-4 months
Botoxu or Botulinum toxin works 3-4 months. Some patients feel it works a little longer. Others feel it works 2.5 months. Most people are in between. I tell patients to expect three months though some people feel it lasts two and half months.
Then if it lasts longer they are happy. (Chris Thiagarajah, MD, Denver Oculoplastic Surgeon)
Botox duration
Usually, Botox will last around 3-4 months. With repeat injections the effects may last even longer. (David Freilich, MD, Englewood Oculoplastic Surgeon)
Duration of Botox effect
Most patients find Botox will last about 4 months– with a common range being 3-6 months. Many factors play a role in your results, but the 2 most important are (1) the experience of your injector and (2) the amount of Botox used for your given area.
Proper injection technique is critical. Understanding facial anatomy, the muscles involved and how they effect your wrinkles, placement of Botox correctly within these muscle bellies, and appropriately spacing the injections along the course of these muscles will all impact your Botox results.
With greater skill and experience, people find the injections are more comfortable, successful and last longer. Additionally, the amount of Botox injected will impact your results. If your making trip out of town, but you only fill the tank up 1/2 way, your not going to get to your destination.
The same applies with Botox. There is no “cookbook” treatment for Botox. Therapy should be guided by the activity, strength and bulk of each patients muscles involved. Larger muscles will require more Botox. I often see patients in my office who have come from elsewhere, unhappy with their results.
They often were trying to get “Botox at a discount”. But nothing is worth the cost of a poor result. With proper injection technique and sufficient Botox dose you should be extremely satisfied with your treatment results. (Jeffrey C. Poole, MD, Metairie Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox lasts about 3 to 4 months
Botox lasts about 3 to 4 months in most patients. With repeated injections, Botox often lasts longer, because:
1. Muscles that have not completely recovered from a prior injection are more sensitive to another injection.
2. When you have Botox injected regularly, you get out of the habit of using these muscles. (Ronald Friedman, MD, Plano Plastic Surgeon)
Botox lasts 3 months, Give or Take
Botox lasts for 3 months give or take. Patients who return for treatment before signs of muscle activity return, (and who continue to do so over the course of several years) tend to develop greater longevity from the product.
The best idea for a patient is to become educated on the dose (in units) that they receive for treatment. The greater the dose, the more effect the Botox will have. (Stephen Prendiville, MD, Fort Myers Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox longevity depends on a few things, but typically lasts 3-6 months. After having BOTOX several times in a row, most people find BOTOX to last approximately 6 months. As well, the more units of BOTOX injected, the longer the BOTOX lasts to some degree. (Benjamin Barankin, MD, FRCPC, Toronto Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox lasts for 3-4 months
Botox typically lasts for 3-4 months but there is always some individual variability. Also, there is a separate theory that over time, repeated treatments results in a duration of effect lasting longer than 3-4 months. (Steven Hacker, MD, West Palm Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox injections typically needed every 3-4 months to maintain results
Botox usually lasts 3-4 months in most patients. Subsequent treatment as the Botox wears off will help to maintain your results of your initial Botox injections. (Richard A. D’Amico, MD, FACS, Englewood Plastic Surgeon)
Botox can last longer following multiple treatments
Initially, the results of Botox injections can be seen for approximately 4 months. It has been discovered that with repeated injections over time that it can last much longer. I have several patients who only need a maintenance shot once per year. (James R. Gordon, MD, FACS, FAAO, New York Oculoplastic Surgeon)
The average duration of Botox efficacy is 3 to 4 months. This may depend on the strength of the muscles treated and the accuracy of the injector. (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Usually 3-4 to months but it can be variable. There is a new prescription medication called Zytaze that is said to enhance and prolong the effects of botox. (Keshini Parbhu, MD, Orlando Oculoplastic Surgeon)
Botox can last up 4 to 6 months. You’d like to stay consistent with this treatment, it could actually make your injections last longer over time. (Bruce E. Katz, MD, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox lasts around 3 months usually
Usually, Botox lasts about 3 months, but in people who have had it many times before, the results can last less time. It might also not last as long when overly diluted or old. (John P. Di Saia, MD, Orange Plastic Surgeon)
