Botox For Frown Lines: How Long Does It Last?
Botox for frown lines generally lasts 3 to 4 months with proper dosage. Longevity depends on the dosage used, injection technique, how the Botox was stored and strength of your muscles. (Grant Stevens, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Botox typically lasts 3-4 months in most patients
In most patients, Botox lasts about 3-4 months. That said, there are several factors which will contribute to its effectiveness and longevity over time. Chief among them is the skill and accuracy of the injector – which is why I personally perform all Botox injections on my patients.
I do agree with my colleagues that repeated/consistent injections often results in the Botox lasting longer and a gradual diminution of the wrinkles being targeted.
There are, of course, exceptions to the rule. For men with facial muscles that are strong and active, a greater-than-normal dosage is often required to achieve a suitable result.
The effects of Botox also tend to fade away faster in women who frequently exercise. (William F. DeLuca Jr, MD, Albany Plastic Surgeon)

Botox Duration
Botox for frown lines typically lasts 3-6 months. Factors affecting this are injection technique, dilution, and the size, thickness and activity of the muscles causing wrinkling or frowning. Habitual frowning worsens wrinkles! I usually use 30 units per area, thus the actual dilution is less important than the final total of units used. (Michael Coverman, MD, Austin Dermatologist)
Generally, Botox lasts from 3-6 months. Everyone reacts differently. It also depends on how many units are used in a given area I like to use Botox in conjunction with Radiesse or Restylane, which can last between 6 months to a year, for a combined effect of longer duration. Up to a point, an increase in the number of units of Botox used also increases the duration of its effect.

Botox Longevity
Depending on patients, Botox for frown lines can last 3-9 months. Botox is a neurotoxin that blocks receptors on muscle ending. Over time, natural signals to the muscle nerve endings will replace Botox. I find that patients who animate more than others have a shorter duration of Botox. Botox Results “last” for Different Amounts of Time
The amount of time the Botox results “last” depends on the patient and surgeon’s perception. Since each person has tailored treatments with Botox to meet specific wants, the results can last for different amounts of time.
The Botox doesnt just stop working at 3 to 4 months, but slowly wears off until the patient and surgeon are ready for the next treatment. For instance, if a person wants a natural, smoothing of the forehead, but not complete forehead wrinkle absence, then, the result may “last” longer. (Travis T. Tollefson, MD, MPH – Account Suspended, Sacramento Facial Plastic Surgeon)
