Botox 11 Lines Before & After

Botox for “11” lines in between the brows

Botox can help in two ways. First, it will relax the muscle that makes the lines deeper.

That will make this area look more relaxed and you will not be able to scowl and won’t be able to make the expression that we call “stink eye” in Hawaii.

Initially, the lines will not be improved at rest, but amazingly, over time the body will smooth out these ironed-in wrinkles and they will improve.

This process takes time – typically about a year – so you will want to repeat the botox every 3 months to prevent muscle contraction until the body has had time to smooth these wrinkles out.

If you do botox every now and again you will not see much improvement at rest, but will still get the improvement on animation. (Robert Peterson, MD, Honolulu Plastic Surgeon)

Botox for “11’s”

Botox is an excellent treatment for 11 lines. When administered by an experienced injector you should have a beautiful result that will last 3-4 months. (Martin Jugenburg, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)

Botox +/- fillers for the glabellar “11” lines

Botox turns off the muscles that contract to form the “11” lines in the glabella. Occasionally, even after Botox has turned off the muscles, the crease persists.

This may improve over time with Botox treatments every 3-4 months, however, for deep lines I often place a small amount of filler, like Restylane, in the crease to improve the wrinkle.

Combining filler and Botox in this area is often a home run for improving the lines. That said, filer injection in this area can be dangerous if not performed by an experienced injector. (Theda C. Kontis, MD, Baltimore Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Botox for cosmetic purposes is FDA-approved for the 11-lines and crows feet. If you have no medical contraindications for Botox, you would be the perfect candidate for a neuromodulator such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin.

Starting in the late 20s or early 30s with Botox is the perfect time to maintain smooth facial skin as wrinkle prevention works much better than wrinkle treatment. (Thomas J. Walker, MD, FACS, Atlanta Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Botox for 11’s or frown lines

Thanks for sharing the picture and question. Botox is a great treatment option for this common issue. The lines form as the underlying small muscles pull on the skin – Botox injections relax the muscles and soften the lines over time.

It usually takes 2-3 days to start seeing the Botox effect, and may take a week to fully kick in. It will probably take at least 20 units to treat this area, maybe more. Consider seeing an experienced local provider that can examine the area and make a recommendation.

If you like what you hear, try it, and let us know how it goes. (Paul Gorman, MD, Redwood City Physician)
