Best Wrinkle Filler For Lines Around Mouth

There are many options to help lessen the severity of the lip lines. 2 things that come to mind to me for skin tightening is Ultherapy or Infini.

Ultherapy is the only device FDA approved for skin tightening with no down time.

Infini is a new device using micro-needles and radio frequency heat to deliver energy deep in the tissue, essentially creating a heat injury that your body’s natural response is to build collagen and repair.

Both devices are good for stimulating collagen and can be used on the face and neck. This type of treatment generally lasts about 2 years. (Mark A. Blair, MD, Phoenix Dermatologic Surgeon)

Lip lines – best treatment

Start with Botox – only a little is needed and only in the upper lip, a total of 6 units or so. Also start skin care creams – especially tretinoin (Retin A).

Treat The Lines Around The Mouth

If that isn’t enough, then fillers – Restylane and Restylane silk are the usual ones for lip lines although in thick skin Juvederm can work very well. Fillers will be most expensive – so start with the less expensive options. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Treatment For Vertical Lip Lines

Vertical lip lines are very challenging to treat. I find that a combination of Botox and Juvederm works best. Beautiful and natural results can be achieved. (Christian N. Ford, M.D., Boston Physician)

Vertical lip lines

Depending on the approach you’d like to take, fillers can be an effective, but temporary approach. Alternatively, if you’re willing and able to take a little downtime, these vertical lip lines can be significantly reduced, if not nearly eliminated, with a deeper laser resurfacing procedure around the mouth and the effects would be long lasting. (Sachin S. Pawar, MD, Milwaukee Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Upper Lip Wrinkles & Lines

Upper lip creases

I recommend Juvederm Ultra to fill in the deep creases as well as restore volume in the depressions near the outer limit of the upper lip.

Restylane will also do the job but I prefer Juvederm Ultra for the kind of deep creases you have along with the generalized thinning of the upper lip which is visible as shadows on the lip.

It is likely that you may need two injection appointments to achieve the best results. Botox in very small doses can help the filler last a little longer, but does not restore volume in lips that have lost volume in the skin.

Along with fillers, it is important to use sun protection including a zinc oxide- containing broad-spectrum sunscreen. (Avoid the company of smokers to avoid secondhand smoke, and also the temptation to smoke in the company of smokers.). (Renuka Diwan, MD, Cleveland Dermatologic Surgeon)

Wrinkles Appearing In Different Areas Of Your Face

Smoker’s line treatment

These are difficult to treat. It always requires combination therapy. These require volume with filler, Botox to relax the muscles, and either fractional ablative laser resurfacing or Infini. Other treatments which have prolonged downtime and hypopigmentation risks are: Dermabrasion and completely ablative laser resurfacing, both of which I don’t recommend. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Treatment of vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines, lipstick lines)

It is one of the best things you can do for your skin along with reducing sun exposure. There are several treatment options for vertical lip lines including fillers, Botox, microneedling, non-ablative and ablative lasers.

I usually start with a combination of a filler such as Belotero or Restylane Silk and Botox. Microneedling can be combined with the injectable treatments and does induce collagen production helping to soften the lines further.

Finally, a retinol is a great way to continue improving the results from injectables and devices. (Shaun Patel, MD, Miami Physician)

Lip lines do well with fillers

Your lip lines can be treated several ways. I would use a combination of Restylane and Restylane silk as silk does not last that long but is great in finer lines.

Belotero would do well in finer lines too. I would build up lips a little to PULL lines out and then go into remaining lines themselves. I also think that a good laser would help. (Jo Herzog, MD, Birmingham Dermatologist)

you have several treatment options. I also start patients on a retinol therapy, which is a prescriptive cream that goes on at night only.

Also, wear at least 30 spf daily to prevent future lines. Botox can work well in this area, as well as Juvederm filler. You can also consider laser resurfacing, which works extremely well around the mouth.

Wrinkles Around The Mouth, Also Called Perioral Wrinkles

Perioral Lines

There are multiple treatments available that can soften perioral lines such as Botox, filler, dermapen, peels, and laser. I would recommend a complimentary consultation to discuss your goals and candidacy. (Kathleen Morno, MD, Highland Park Physician)

Botox helps, fillers help as do some laser therapies and application of Retinol.

See a board certified dermatologist for appropriate treatment. (Melvin Elson, MD, Nashville Dermatologist)

These are often called smoker’s lines. I have treated them with fillers, botox, and peels, and dermabrasion. (Steven Wallach, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)

I would recommend using both a dermal filler and a neurotoxin. The filler will be used to fill in some of the deeper lines and the botox will prevent new lines from forming and soften the existing ones. It will also make the filler last longer. (Alan B. Brackup, MD, FACS, Philadelphia Oculoplastic Surgeon)

There are many treatments for vertical lip lines and it is often best to do a combination of laser treatments to improve the quality of the skin as well as fillers like Belotero or Restylane Silk which can be injected very superficially to etch the lines and give an immediate result. (Quenby Erickson, DO, FAAD, FACMS, Chicago Dermatologic Surgeon)

For the lines, soft tissue fillers (Belotero or Juvederm) work well. Additionally, a small amount of neurotoxin (Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport) can be used to help lessen their appearance. (Joseph Franklin, MD, Durham Plastic Surgeon)

A combination of injections such as Volbella and Microneedling with PRP should be the most effective combination in your case. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
