Botox is an excellent choice for softening of forehead lines, but it’s important to have a surgeon perform the procedure who understands the amount of Botox that will be effective as well as the pattern of injection to use.
If the procedure is not done properly, it can leave you with an uneven position of your eyebrows or even drooping of your eyebrow or eyelid.
So as with any procedure, do your homework, ask to see some Before and After photos, and pick the doctor whom you feel the most comfortable with. (Shahram Salemy, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for forehead lines is definitely very effective. The most important issue is to avoid over-correction, which will weaken the forehead muscles excessively, causing the eyebrows to drop somewhat and feel heavy. (Roger J. Oldham, MD, Bethesda Plastic Surgeon)
Botox Works for Horizontal Forehead Lines
Botox is a very effective, safe, noninvasive, albeit temporary treatment for horizontal forehead lines (frontalis muscle).
I generally recommend treatment of the glabella (11’s) along with treatment of the frontalis muscle; the muscles of the glabella (corrugator supercili and procerus) can be recruited when they are active and the frontalis muscle has been treated with Botox.
This leads to a rather strange appearance. (Stephen Prendiville, MD, Fort Myers Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox a great choice
This is my treatment of choice for forehead because it is both non-invasive and safe. Also, the temporary nature of Botox gives you a greater degree of control than more invasive techniques do. (Daniel J. Ladd Jr., DO, Austin Dermatologist)
BOTOX for horizontal forehead lines works great
BOTOX has been used safely and effectively for horizontal forehead lines for many years. It is typically combined with treatment of the frown complex as well. If treating just the forehead, the strength of the muscles and extent of wrinkling must be determined by your physician.
I typically make 5-6 injections of 2-3 units per injection site. This gives very good and natural results without dropping the eyebrows/eyelids/. (Benjamin Barankin, MD, FRCPC, Toronto Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox for Forehead Lines and Creases
If the lines that you are describing become more apparent when you lift your brow upward, then you are a good candidate for Botox. Botox works to relax the muscles that cause these wrinkles. By relaxing the muscle contraction, the area smooths and the lines are less visible or not visible at all.
The results typically last about 3-5 months and we use about 15-25 units in this area depending on your sex, the musculature of the face and how many lines are present. (Harold J. Kaplan, MD, Los Angeles Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is great for forehead lines
Absolutely! Botox is great for forehead lines. Do be careful where the injections are placed. If they are placed too low on the forehead they can cause drooping of the eyebrows, and if they are placed very low on the forehead they can cause actual dooping of the eyelids. (Shawn Allen, MD, Boulder Dermatologist)
Botox can help you if done properly
Properly administered Botox can soften your horizontal forehead lines. These come from the muscles that elevate your brow so over treatment of these lines will cause your brow to drop down and make you look older.
So be sure you go to an excellent and experienced practitioner for the Botox. Any residual lines present after the Botox can be lightly filled with Restylane. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Botox does work on forehead lines, HOWEVER…..
I am always careful not to automatically inject a patient’s horizontal forehead lines until I watch him or her in natural conversation and get to know his or her face. Some patients always use forehead muscles subconsciously to elevate their brows and “keep their eyes open” while speaking.
These patients will be very unhappy if Botox used to smooth their forehead makes their brow feel heavy and lids droopy. I use a “Botox Browlift” in this situation first, and then see after a few weeks what can be touched up for best natural advantage. (Jessica J. Krant, MD, MPH, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
Treatment Of Horizontal Lines
Botox is an effective way to treat dynamic, horizontal lines. However, caution must be excercised on why the lines are created. If we use our forehead to hold up our brow, then Botox is not the treatment of choice.
A forhead lift would be a better treatment. Another consideration, are the lines still present (static lines) when the forehead is relaxed? If they are present, use of chemical peels, Retin A and alphahydroxy acids will help minimize these lines. (Kirk A. Churukian, MD, Los Gatos Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for horizontal lines
Botox works wonders for horizontal lines in the forehead area. Make sure to choose a Doctor or nurse who has advanced training in Botox. Our nurse has advanced training and has worked with our patients for 10 years now.
New clients $10.00 per unit for the first visit. (Vincent N. Zubowicz, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
Forehead lines have multiple causes
The forehead lines can be improved with Botox, but unlike smile lines, it takes a very thoughtful analysis of what is creating the lines:
- Are the lines created by the forehead muscles trying to hold up a droopy brow ? If this is the case – botox injection will create a lower brow.
- Are the lines due to heavy upper lids or seperation of the muscle that holds up the lids and the forehead muscles are trying to compensate?
- If this is the case using botox will create increased lid droop
The decision of where to treat and how to treat can than be made after each element is examined.
Fortunately these problems can usually be overcome after proper analysis. (Nathan Mayl, MD (retired), Fort Lauderdale Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for forehead lines
Botox can be very effective to soften the horizontal lines of the face. However, if the lines are still present when you are not making any facial expression (i.e. static lines), then I would consider using a thin dermal filler such as Restylane Silk to soften the lines. (Young R. Cho, MD, PhD, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Addressing horizontal forehead headlines.
Botox is one of the treatments that works very well for this particular area. As simple, and common of a procedure as this is, the decision to undergo a medical intervention should not be taken lightly.
When properly executed, Botox injections can be an important adjunct in positively impacting the cosmetic appearance of someone’s face. Consult a board-certified facial plastic surgeon or a general plastic surgeon in your community for this matter. (William Numa, MD, FACS, Boston Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for the forehead
Botox works very well on the horizontal lines of the forehead. In fact, I would say that it works best in this area. (Gary Lawton, MD, FACS, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)
Botox for some forehead lines
Botox is an excellent treatment for forehead lines. Small amounts should be used to prevent lowering of your forehead. If the lines are still evident after Botox, you could consider fillers to plump up the lines.
Please see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for your treatments to ensure the best possible results. (Martie Gidon, MD, FRCPC, Toronto Dermatologist)
Botox works great for forehead lines
Botox works wonderful for forehead lines, but it can give you brow ptosis, or droopy eyelids. If you already have brow ptosis you may not want to use Botox. (David Finkle, MD, Omaha Plastic Surgeon)
this is a perfect area for botox…and since they’re relatively small if you keep up with the botox they’ll never progress to be an issue…don’t wait…just get do it…and be happy. (Ken Landow, MD, Las Vegas Dermatologist)
