Bunny lines are mainly caused by excessive movement of the nasalis muscle, an inverted horse-shoe shaped muscle at the top of the nose. Ironically these lines and horizontal lines just above them can be caused by Botox, and are sometimes called Botox lines.
They are rather simple to treat, in experienced hands. This treatment is inexpensive, only requiring 6-9 units, costing roughly $50-100. I say in experienced hands because there is a slim muscle running along the bottom of this region which attaches to the lips.
Tampering with this muscle can lead to a crooked smile. Also there are some decently sized blood vessels coursing lower than the target area and if these are hit there can be some fairly nasty bruising and swellling.
In some people this nasalis muscle is a little stronger than it appears and you might have to have a few more units injected. (Arnold R. Oppenheim, MD, Virginia Beach Dermatologist)
Botox is excellent to eliminate Bunny Lines
Most people think that Botox can only help the frown lines between the brows. But people hate the lines that come off at an angle from the eyes onto the nose, commonly known as Bunny Lines.
Those angle lines and horizontal creases on the bridge of the nose are all caused by muscle contraction. Botox injections into those areas can work wonders to reduce or relax the lines completely.
The best part is that a minimal amount of Botox is necessary to correct the problem, so the cost per unit is not excessive. (David A. Dreyfuss, MD, Orland Park Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is quite effective at treating the small lines on the upper sides of the nose, or “bunny lines”. It only takes a small amount to get a great result. Dr. P. (Michael A. Persky, MD, Encino Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox can tackle Bunny Wrinkles
Botox can certainly help lessen “bunny wrinkles” of the nose. I am glad you used the term “lessen” as well – depending on the exact location and severity of your “bunny wrinkles” it may be unwise to eliminate them entirely with Botox as adverse results to other nasal, eye or forehead muscles could occur.
Fillers can also be used for these types of wrinkles in conjunction with the Botox to achieve a nice, balanced result. Seek a consultation with an experienced and Board certified Physician and those wrinkles on your nose should “hop right away”. (Kamran Jafri, MD, New York Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is a GREAT treatment for Bunny Lines.
These lines are created by the contraction of a sneering muscle on the top upper portion of the nose , the Procerus. Aside from sneering and showing anger and revulsion it has no real function. A few units of Botox placed in this muscle will smooth Bunny Lines away.(Peter A. Aldea, MD, Memphis Plastic Surgeon)
Botox works wonderful for BUNNY LINES, the little wrinkle lines that show on the side of our noses when we scrunch are faces up! (David Finkle, MD, Omaha Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is very effective for bunny lines on the nose. In most cases, 4-8 units is adequate for these lines which wrinkle the skin on eitehr side of the nose. (Ivan Thomas, MD (retired), Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
“Bunny lines” are those lines or crease towards the proximal bridge of the nose. Botox can be used effectively to minimize the appearance of such lines . It typically lasts 3-4 months. (Steven Hacker, MD, West Palm Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox is an excellent choice for treatment of unwanted “bunny lines” on the nose. When Botox is injected properly to this area it relaxes the muscle and therefore creates a smoother appearance. Injections are done in the office and last approximately 3.5 to 4 months in duration. (Rod J. Rohrich, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Nasalis muscle relaxation with Botox- smooth your bunny lines.
Just several units to each side of the nose will relax the nasalis muscle and smooth the crinkles we call bunny lines. Simple, painless and inexpensive. (Randolph Capone, MD, FACS, Baltimore Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox is a great targeted treatment for many types of facial wrinkles and bunny lines are no exception. Remember to consider treatment to reverse sun damage as well to avoid recurrence of these troublesome lines! (Victoria W. Serralta, MD, Arlington Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox is great for bunny lines on the nose!
Some people get quite noticeable permanent wrinkles that run diagonally along the sides of the nose bridge from certain facial expressions.
If the lines bother you and you don’t just think they are cute, Botox is a great way to prevent the muscles in the area pulling the skin together, and only a small amount is needed to achieve the benefit.
Don’t forget to ask about it when you’re treating your forehead!. (Jessica J. Krant, MD, MPH, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox is terrific for the so called “bunny lines” on the nose. I do this treatment very often especially if the action of these muscles contributes to lines under the eyes. (Elizabeth F. Rostan, MD, Charlotte Dermatologist)
Botulinum toxin, e.g. BOTOX, is probably the most effective treatment for Bunny Lines. A small dose and thus small cost is required for 3-4 months of effect. My patients are very happy with the treatment results in this location. (Benjamin Barankin, MD, FRCPC, Toronto Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox = bye bye “bunny” lines!
Botox is very effective for eliminating “bunny” lines at the root of the nose. In fact, I routinely treat the bunny lines whenever I am correcting the frown lines between the brows. It doesn’t require much Botox, and many times, if the frown lines are eliminated, people often “suddenly” start noticing their bunny lines that are left behind. (Haresh Yalamanchili, MD, Houston Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox Works Great on Bunny Lines
These funny little lines on your nose respond very well to Botox. I routinely inject them at the time I treat frown lines. (Randy J. Buckspan, MD, Austin Plastic Surgeon)
Botox Works Great on Bunny Lines!
The funny wrinkles that we get from wrinkling our noses as if we smelled something bad respond great to Botox! You don’t need very much, anywhere from 2-4 units to achieve a result. The important thing to remember is not to rub the area for several hours after placement to avoid migration to nearby muscles. (Grace Liu, MD, Newport Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox is great for bunny lines
The lines that occur from wrinkling the nose are called “bunny lines.”. These respond well to Botox and only a few units are needed. (Dina D. Strachan, MD, New York Dermatologist)
