Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expressions. The pivotal studies on Botox demonstrated that when 20 units is placed in the glabella between the brows, most people enjoy their results for 3-4 months.
For this reason in my practice I typically start with 20 units in this area the first time and follow up in two weeks. At that time more can always be added.
I have never used more than 40 units in this area. Dysport is another neuromodulator used in this area. 50-60 units of Dysport is the equivalent to 20 units of Botox.
While I understand that cosmetic treatments are an investment I have seen many patients who have had negative experiences with daily deal sites.
From the business end, many offices actually lose money when offering such deals and a number of practices must be used to recover this loss.
Some offices offer plastic surgery; in this case one surgery can easily recover the loss of many Botox treatments.
Other places offer more units, offer treating other areas, and offer other treatments such as lasers and fillers.
I have even seen some offices convince patients to use a different neuromodulator which costs the office less (but can still achieve the desired results). (Alex Eshaghian, MD, PhD, Encino Physician)
Botox between the brows
A typical starting dose for botox to the glabellar area (between the eyebrows) is 25 units. This is for Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinum toxin) and Xeomin (incobotulinum toxin).
Dysport is dosed differently (higher). 50 units for Botox Cosmetic or Xeomin is too high as a starting dose. (Katherine Zamecki, MD, FACS, Danbury Oculoplastic Surgeon)
50 Units of Botox is usually enough to do between your brows, forehead and your crows feet. If you are just interested in treating between your brows, it typically takes approximately 20 units of Botox. Units can be different if the injector is using Dysport. (Lawrence Bundrick, MD, Huntsville Plastic Surgeon)
Botox dosing in glabella
You have to be careful about going to a place just for price though. You get what you pay for is the old saying. Many people are unhappy if they choose their provider based on price and I recommend thoroughly researching your injector based on reviews and what your peers are saying. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Typically 20 units would be the classic injection amount for this area. (Matthew Elias, DO, FAAD, Fort Lauderdale Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox injections. 50 units for between brows
Dysport typically requires 40-60 units for the glabella region. Botox for the glabella ranges from12-30 units. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. (Jeff Angobaldo, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
50 units of Botox is too much for the Glabella to start with. 50 units of Dysport may be an appropriate dose. Be wary of online specials when it comes to facial injections. I suggest you meet with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist for your best result. (Sean Doherty, MD, FACS, Boston Plastic Surgeon)
50 Units of Botox between the eyebrows in glabellar region for “11’s” is too much. (Benjamin J. Cousins, MD, Miami Beach Plastic Surgeon)
I use between 20 and 30 units of Botox in the glabella in females. Also after I have evaluated your case, I recommend 30 Units of Botox and 0.3 ml of filler Belotero Balance to enhance this deep crease for a full enhancement.
The average charge for Botox in Canada is about $10 per unit and the glabella area usually takes about 25 units. It is possible that the consultation implied a brow lift and crow’s feet as well so that could push the number of units up. (Rick Balharry, MD, Calgary Physician)
Botox Between The Brows
I usually start with 20-25 and have never really given more than 35 units. It’s always easier to add more later. Please proceed with caution. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
Of course an in person consultation is necessary to best determine your best course of action. First , a word of advice, never discount your face. Groupon is great to try a new restaurant but just because someone offers botox does not mean they utilize it very well.
That stated, I personally do not like to look at the face for one area alone as while you may be focused on this area now, correction may have you look at another related area later. (Mark Berkowitz, MD, Sterling Heights Oculoplastic Surgeon)
Botox for between brows
50 units of Botox would be a very high amount of Botox for the glabella or the area between the brows. I usually use between 10-25 units here and most commonly 15-20 units. A filler such as Belotero can be a great treatment on top of Botox. It is important to go to an experienced physician injector. (Richard Ort, MD, Lone Tree Dermatologic Surgeon)
50 units of Botox would be a very high dose for the glabellar (i.e., 11s) area. In order to determine the best treatment plan for you, I recommend an in-person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. (Corey Frucht, MD, PhD, Santa Barbara Dermatologic Surgeon)
I would use 25-30 units and see you back in 2-3weeks to check the results. (Byron A. Long, MD, Marietta Oculoplastic Surgeon)
