Botox, Xeomin,or Dysport are all neuromodulators that act in very similar fashions.
Depending on the area of treatment one can get injections every two to three months.
There are some rare individuals who develop an immunity where injections would be needed more frequently.
In my practice, I typically see individuals every 3 months and sometimes in between if the area being treated only calls for very low concentrations, such as in and around the mouth or for the treatment of platysmal bands. (Giancarlo Zuliani, MD, Rochester Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Treat wrinkles every 3 – 4 months with Botox
Botox works well, and one can be treated every 3 – 4 months when the effects diminish. There are other remedies for wrinkles and fine lines, and Botox is just one option, but has proven to be effective and has withstood the test of time. (Douglas J. Key, MD, Portland Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox – Frequent use prevents permanent wrinkles
Botox and Dysport (botulinum toxin type A), if used consistently, can help prevent permanent wrinkles from forming in many areas of the face. Long term use has also shown that the body ‘forgets’ about some muscles, and may require less frequent dosing. (Jason Lichtenberger, MD, Bellingham Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox Gives Visible Results Consistently
Botox injections are typically repeated every 3 to 4 months. Some patients have noticed visible results lasting up to 6 months. Within days you will see a marked improvement in wrinkles .
Results are consistent and patient satisfaction is high. (Andrew P. Giacobbe, MD, Buffalo Plastic Surgeon)
Botox and/or Dysport can be used in conservative amounts as often as every 2-4 months. However, when placed in the correct location and in an appropriate dosage, repeat Botox or Dysport treatment is usually only required every 3-6 months when used for elimination or improvement of facial wrinkles.
When used for hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration), Botox may last as long as 12-18 months with each treatment.
Initial effectiveness in the treatment of hyperhidrosis is usually in the 4-6 month range, with results lasting longer and longer with consistent successive treatments. (Michael R. Macdonald, MD, Bay Area Facial Plastic Surgeon)
With repeated treatments, Botox et al results tend to last longer, and less is needed.
This occurs as the straining muscle that causes the wrinkles, when not used as often, decreases in size over time. (David J. Myers, MD, Salt Lake City Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox is usually used every 3-4 months
Generally, Botox treatments are given every 3-4 months, although some long-term patients will report a difference for significantly longer. It is uncommon for a patient to find that the effect is diminished over time. Some of my patients do request additional Botox as time progresses, but this is generally to treat new areas or enhance the effect of previously treated areas. (William Andrade, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
You can get treatments every few months or so, but this depends on a medical assessment by an experienced cosmetic physician. With repeated treatments, Botox results tend to last longer. (Jerome Edelstein, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
Typically Botox is used once every 3 – 4 months. A very small percentage of patients respond partially to Botox and the effect wears off earlier than normal. This is due to the development of antibodies by the patient to Botox. (Naveen Somia, MBBS, PhD, FRACS, Sydney Plastic Surgeon)
Botox effect usually lasts anywhere from 3-8 months, depending upon where it was placed, the muscle anatomy, and how much was used.
Patients can repeat the Botox injections every 3to 4 months as necessary when the lines start returning. (William Portuese, MD, Seattle Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Botox frequency can be every three to six months depending on the area
It would take huge doses of Botox after many years for someone to become “immune” to its effect. These cases typically involve Botox for neurologic conditions and not with the amounts injected for cosmetic purposes.
In fact, after you receive Botox for cosmetic purposes and you continue on a regular basis, the effects usually last better and longer since the muscle has been “trained” not to make that wrinkle.
That is why if you get Botox twice a year, and are consistent, you are much less likely to have new or deeper wrinkles in the future and will love the results. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
Botox can be injected every 3- 4 months. Some patients have their treatment at 2 months to avoid any diminution of effect. It does not cause harm and the likelihood of resistance is small. (Thomas Guillot, MD, Baton Rouge Plastic Surgeon)
Botox treatments tend to be spaced 3 – 4 months apart. Some patients will do it as frequently as every 2 months or as needed if it is to be used for migraine headaches.
Some patients like to wait longer and do it every 6 months (generally in conjunction with their dermal filler treatments). (Kris M. Reddy, MD, FACS, West Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon)
I generally see patients having a return of overactive muscles of the brow, forehead, or crow’s feet, at around 4- 6 months after treatment.
Over time and multiple repeat treatments, there is often a longer period of effectiveness, but the same dosing of botox is needed, just further apart in time. (Dan Downey, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
The typical Botox duration after an average treatment of 20 units to an area is 3-4 months. What patients have noticed who have had consistent treatments over several years, is that the results tend to last longer since it takes longer for the muscle to remember how to contract.
I have some patients who have Botox to their foreheads only once a year. In certain lucky patients, their frown muscles forget how to frown and never recreate the frown lines after even after only one or two Botox treatments to the frown area. (Grace Liu, MD, Newport Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox treatments are consistent
One of the best features of Botox is that it is consistent. Each treatment lasts about three to four months for most patients.
Even if you come back to use the product, the results are the same each time. (Sanusi Umar, MD, Redondo Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Botox should give consistent results
Botox treatments in most cases lasts between 3-4 months. There have been situations in which people who have been regularly receiving their Botox treatments over the course of several years have noticed that their results last longer (up to 5-6 months).
Although it is possible for some people to have “Botox antibodies” which prevents Botox from working effectively for them, this is quite rare. For the vast majority of people, Botox (and Dysport) will have consistent results time and again. (Haresh Yalamanchili, MD, Houston Facial Plastic Surgeon)
