Which surgery would I need? I thought Ptosis but now I’m unsure
This is not ptosis
Aug 12, 2023
I don’t believe you have ptosis. You do have some superior sulcus (upper lid) hollowing and very prominent brows which accentuate this. There are some options, but you need to make an appointment with an ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon for an in person exam and consultation. Best of luck.
Surgical and/or non-surgical (preferred) treatment for asymmetrical eyelids?
This is ptosis
Aug 12, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. This is asymmetrical ptosis which usually responds best to surgery. You should schedule an appointment with an ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon for and in person exam and consultation for an accurate diagnosis and customized treatment plan. Best of luck.
If someone responds to Upaneeq, does that mean they have ptosis?
Upneeq and ptosis
Aug 6, 2023
Upneeq will raise the lids in any person as it stimulates Mueller’s muscle. To determine if you have ptosis you would need to be examined bean ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon without Upneeq on board. Best of luck
Plastic surgeon vs. oculoplastic surgeon for ptosis repair?
Ptosis repair vs blepharoplasty
Aug 6, 2023
Ptosis repair is surgery on the upper eyelid muscles to raise the level of the eyelid. Upper id blepharoplasty is reworking of the skin and fat. They are not the sam operation, but are often done at the same time. All Oculoplastic surgeons are skilled in both procedures. Not all Plastic surgeon or facial Plastic surgeons who do upper lid blepharoplasty perform ptosis repair or do it frequently enough to be skilled at the nuances of this operation.. To be successful ptosis repair needs to be…
Severe asymmetrical eyebrows & eyes, what can I do?
Eyelid/brow asymmetry
Jul 24, 2023
Thank you for your question and photo.Brow asymmetry is often due to ptosis on the same side as the higher brow from a central neurological response. Unfortunately you have posted one photo which is from a skew angle making this hard to detect from that one photo alone. You need to make an appointment with an ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon who is skilled in detailed lid evaluation.
What are my options to correct asymmetrical eyelids and brows?
This is ptosis
Jun 16, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. The high brow is actually your brain compensation for ptosis (a droopy lid ) on that side. You can see that that side as a higher lid crease which is a telltale sign of ptosis. A simple in office test can demonstrate this. Ptosis responds very well to surgery. You need to see an ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon for an in office exam and consultation. Best of luck.
Can surgery fix my eye that looks smaller & lower following car crash & surgery?
Lid problems following trauma.
Jun 16, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. You really need an in person exam and consultation with a fellowship trained Oculuplastic surgeon. You need a complete review of previous procedures and imaging to determine the current issues and formulate a plan. Best of luck
40 year old, Asian, female. What surgery do I need to correct eyelid?
Double lid crease
Jun 13, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. You have a double lid crease which responds well to a blepharoplasty. You should see an ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon who is familiar with and experienced in Asian blepharoplasty. Best of luck
Ptosis revision – what would you do as an oculoplastic surgeon?
Ptosis revision
Jun 13, 2023
Thank you for your question and for your photos. It is difficult to answer your question without more information such as how the surgery was done. Was it posterior surgery? That only works in a very small subset of congenital ptosis patients. I actually published a paper about that. From your photos you still have some residual ptosis. An external approach with reformation of the lid crease would seem to make the most sense. I would get a second opinion from another ASOPRS surgeon. I’m n…
Should I repeat internal method of ptosis surgery? Would the same method work?
Repeat internal ptosis repair
Jun 11, 2023
Thank you for your question. There are several variations of an internal ptosis repair. Most commonly it involves removal of some of the lining of the upper eyelid along with some of the minor muscle that raises the upper eyelid. While tihs can be repeated one has to e careful to avoid dry eye if too much of the lining of the upper lid is removed as it contains cells that make some of the baseline tears. It is best to be evaluated by a fellowship trained ASOPRS affiliated surgeon who is well…
Mild ptosis & told surgery would be cosmetic, would the outcome make much of a difference cosme
Ptosis repair
May 29, 2023
I do agree that the ptosis is mild and cosmetic in nature. An external approach is appropriate as the main issue I see is the crease on that side. An external approach would allow the crease to be re-formed for better symmetry. I do think it would help significantly
26F, what procedure is suitable for sunken eyes with droopy upper eyelids?
Ptosis
May 21, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. Your photos show ptosis which generally responds well to surgery. You should make an appointment for an in person exam and consultation about this and your lower lid concerns. Good luck
How many units of Dysport for droopy eyelids?
Droopy lids and Dysport
Apr 29, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos.. Unfortunately neither Dysport nor any of the Neuromodulators can fix your droopy lids. You have ptosis which generally responds well to surgery. A risk of all the Neuromodulators can be droopy lids. They are not used to treat ptosis. You need to schedule a consultation with a fellowship trained ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon. A virtual consulation can be a good place to start, but an in person exam and consultation will ultimately be required….
Would a revision eyelid surgery help correct uneven eyelids?
Post op lid retraction
Apr 29, 2023
You have lid retraction after your surgery. A revision operation will be needed to correct this. You need to see a fellowship trained ASOPRS affiliated Oculoplastic surgeon. An in person exam and consultation will ultimately be required, but a virtual consultation could be a good place to start. You need someone who is experienced in revision upper lid surgery. This kind of lid retraction can cause corneal exposure so this is something that needs to be evaluated and treated sooner r other…
Marcus-Gunn Jaw Winking Ptosis Fix?
Marcus Gunn jaw wink
Apr 26, 2023
Thank you for your question and photos. The only way to eliminate the jaw wink is to excise the levator and perform a frontalis suspension. The jaw wink is caused by an mis wiring which cannot be corrected, so removing the target muscle will eliminate the winkI have done many of these over the years with excellent results. A telehealth consultation is a place to start but an in person exam an consultation would be required before surgery can be scheduled if medical insurance is involved.
