Can Botox Help with Bunny Lines?
Botox for Bunny Lines
Feb 24, 2019
Botox can definitely be used to treat “bunny lines” – those smaller, pesky wrinkles that appear on either side of the nose, especially when scrunching. I typically start with 2 units on either side of the nose to treat these wrinkles. They should soften but may not go away completely, and can require higher doses or more injection points. As with other areas treated with Botox, the results typically last 3-4 months. “Bunny lines” aren’t a problem for everyone….
Somebody told me about a filler called Volift Juvederm. Is this FDA approved?
Juvederm Vollure – Great Hyaluronic acid filler
Feb 24, 2019
Juvederm Vollure is one of my favorite fillers to use. Vollure (referred to as Volift in Europe) is a hyaluronic acid filler that has been FDA approved since early 2017 for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkle such as the nasolabial folds (lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth). Like most fillers, it can be used off-label to treat many areas of the face. Personally, I find that Vollure is one of the smoothest, most natural,…
How Many Botox Units for 11’s or Frown Lines?
Treating your “11” Lines with Botox
Feb 24, 2019
Botox is a fantastic way to treat your “11s” or frown lines (also referred to as the glabella), and the exact amount needed depends on the size and strength of your muscles in this area. 20 units is a perfectly reasonable dose to treat this area, especially if it is your first treatment. Those with very faint lines (or those looking for a subtle, very natural softening) may require slightly less, while those with deeper lines or stronger muscles may require more (25-30 units)….
Alternatives to botox for the “11” wrinkles between eyebrows?
Treating the “11” Lines
Feb 24, 2019
Botox, or other neuromodulators (such as Dysport or Xeomin), is your best option for treating the “11” lines. Botox is a very well tolerated, and relatively low risk, procedure that provides extremely satisfying results. Serious side effects would be very rare, especially when being treated by a well-trained and experienced injector. Even if you were to have the rare and unfortunate side effect of eyelid drooping, this is only temporary (and there are ways to make it…
I have marionette lines, lip lines, and wrinkles all at once! What’s the best wrinkle fillers to ge
Which filler is best?! – Treating multiple areas
Feb 24, 2019
It is very common to have multiple areas of concern at once! Simply put, there is no one best filler. The decision of which filler to use importantly depends on the specific area that you are treating, the volume needed to treat the area, the thickness or quality of the patient’s skin, and several other factors. I would try not to have your heart set on a particular filler prior to your visit and discussion with your provider. And often times you need a combination…
Juvederm vs Restylane
Which filler is best?!
Feb 24, 2019
The Juverderm vs Restylane question has become a lot more complicated than it was even a few years ago, as there are so many different filler options available now. Simply put, there is no one best filler. The decision of which filler to use importantly depends on the specific area that you are treating, the volume needed to treat the area, the thickness or quality of the patient’s skin, and several other factors. I would try not to have your heart set on a particular…
I had Botox in the side of my eyes, could this go into zygomatic muscles ?
Treating Crows Feet with Botox
Feb 24, 2019
Thanks for this informed and savvy question! This highlights the importance of seeing a skilled injector that knows the facial anatomy very well. To treat those pesky crow’s feet with Botox, we target the muscle around the eye called the orbicularis oculi. There are nearby muscles that extend from the lower, outer eye area across the cheek towards the mouth that help us form that beautiful smile of ours (which include the zygomaticus muscles). If these other muscles…
Is It Possible/beneficial to Use Botox for Neck Wrinkles?
Botox for the neck
Feb 24, 2019
Botox can definitely be used to improve the appearance of the aging neck. While not approved yet, it is very effective in treating what is called “platysmal bands”, not true wrinkles. So what are platysmal bands?! Try saying an exaggerated and prolonged letter “E” out loud and look in the mirror… see those tense vertical strips along the front and side of your neck? Those are your platysmal bands! As we age, these become more prominent even at rest, without those…
How Long Before Botox Results Can Be Seen?
When does Botox kick in?
Feb 21, 2019
You’ll start to see the Botox work its magic within a few days – but this is just the beginning! It can really take a full 10-14 days to appreciate the full effect. So, if you’re questioning the results, dosing, symmetry, etc. then you really should wait the full 2 weeks before seeing your provider to make sure you are truly looking at the final results. At that point, feel free to discuss and see if any tweaks are needed!
And good news… There…

Losing that double chin!
Feb 21, 2019
Thanks for your question and photos – While a double chin can be hereditary (thanks mom and grandmom!), multiple factors can play a role, and it is always best to be evaluated in person to adequately assess the area and determine if it is fat, laxity, or something else. Fillers can help define the jawline, but when there is unwanted fat present, I would recommend addressing this first. There are several great noninvasive fat reduction options available for this…
How Long Does Botox Last?
Botox – how long will it last??
Feb 13, 2019
So will the Botox you get injected today still be in full effect for that wedding you have in 4 months?!…Unfortunately, we can’t say for sure. While there’s many factors that can go into how long your Botox lasts, the short answer is that everyone is a little different, so it’s difficult to predict with certainty. I usually say that it lasts 3-4 months, on average. For some, it lasts less than that, and for those lucky ones out there, it can last up to 6 months…
How much does Botox cost?
Botox Cost – Advantage of pricing per “unit”
Feb 13, 2019
Botox can be charged by area treated or by unit. When Botox is charged by the “unit”, you are truly getting what you pay for. I believe it’s a more individualized approach and let’s us treat you with exactly what you need – not more or less. It also lets us personalize your treatment by adding in smaller and more specific areas like bunny lines on the nose, upper lip lines, or treating your frown muscles (and more!) to really enhance and optimize your results…
How long would I have to wait to get more microneedling done?
Microneedling frequency
Jan 31, 2019
Thanks for your question, and I’m glad to hear that you are happy with your results so far. Depending on the intensity of the microneedling treatment, we typically recommend spacing each treatment 4-6 weeks apart. The number of treatments required can depend on exactly what you are trying to treat (mild textural changes in your skin vs. deeper scars, etc). A series of at least 3 treatments is generally a good starting point. The goal of microneedling is to induce collagen…
Is there a filler injection method/technique to prevent blindness from filler injected into the fac
Blindness from fillers
Jan 24, 2019
Thank you for this important question. When performed by well-trained and experienced injectors, dermal filler procedures are tolerated very well. Blindness is extremely rare, but is the most feared complication of filler injection. Blindness can result from intravascular injection of the filler, which then ultimately reaches the small blood vessels of the eye leading to a blockage of blood flow. The most common site for this to happen is injection of filler into…
