Should I try coolsculpting on love handles or is it too risky in my case? Am I a good candidate
Coolsculpting with autoimmune and lipo history
Nov 15, 2018
Thank you for your question.  You are still an excellent candidate for Coolsculpting! The risk of PAH is minimal with the new applicators.  We would be happy to evaluate you as we are the only office in Broward with a Coolsculpting University Masters level trained expert and one of the only Masters experts in South Florida. Interestingly, she herself has had issues with lipo and done Coolsculpting.
Do I give Restylane Lyft for time or get it dissolved due to lines and puffiness under eyes? (P
Restylane Lyft tear troughs
Nov 13, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Unfortunately Restylane Lyft is not an appropriate filler for the year troughs. Please follow up with your Boarf Certified Dermatologist for dissolution of the Lyft and retreatment with a proper filler like Restylane-L or Restylane Silk.  Kind Regards, Dr. Matt Elias Board Certified Dermatologist

Nov 12, 2018
Thank you for your question.  While Coolsculpting does not have an indication for skin tightening in the abdomen (it does in the submental area) anecdotally we find that often times it does tighten.  That being said in this case you unfortunately did not get skin tightening and may actually have laxity.  Coolsculpting has potential breakthrough innovations coming in 2019 with Coolsculpting 3.0 (Fire and Ice) that will utilize radiofrequency to create skin tightening while Coolsculpting.  W...

Unhappy fillers...
Nov 12, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Please follow up with your Board Certified Dermatologist so your Juvederm Ultra Plus filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.  You can then be injected in your cheeks with a proper filler like Voluma or Lyft or a biostimulatory like Sculptra.  Unfortunately Vollure is not the correct filler for the cheeks and likely won't give you adequate results, as well in your skin ultra plus MAY be the wrong choice for the nasolabial folds.  Kind Regards, Dr. Matt Elias...
Can discoloration from eczema be removed with laser treatment?
Eczema
Nov 9, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation secondary to Eczema is best treated with tincture of time and vigorous moisturization with barrier repair creams.  Lasers will likely provide minimal improvement at great cost and while there may be someone willing to sell you that as a treatment it is neither the standard of care nor a good choice.  Kind Regards, Dr. Matt Elias Board Certified Dermatologist
Was this CoolSculpting procedure done in the correct position?
Coolmini
Nov 9, 2018
Thank you for your question.  That does appear close to your throat though it is difficult to tell without evaluating you in person.  As well CS has a new indication for submandibular application which is placed further back along the mandible so that could be what they are treating.  Private equity derm groups may not have an actual dermatologist on site so please follow up with the board certified Dermatologist in charge of your care.  Kind Regards, Dr. Matt Elias Board Certified Dermatologist
Which treatment is best for my current skin problems? Gentle Yag, V beam or CO2?
Acne...
Nov 8, 2018
Thank you for your question.  You need a medical regiment consisting of a gentle cleanser, topical retinoid and likely either an oral antibiotic or spironolactone or both.  Once your active acne is resolved, if erythema (redness) remains and mild scarring then you can consider laser and device treatments.  Genesis V is a great zero downtime treatment for this red skin as well it can help with active acne so that can be instituted into your regiment once you start the medical treatments.  F...
I have a dent in my lip after Juvederm filler. What is happening?
Dent in lip after fillers...
Nov 8, 2018
Thank you for your question.  It appears you have too much filler in the central portion of your lip giving off the appearance of an indention lateral to that area.  Please follow up with your Board Certified Dermatologist (not just any board certified physician, as the core aesthetic specialists are the experts) for proper evaluation and management.  You may consider tincture of time to see if the swelling goes down, reversing the filler or injecting into the area that appears indented.  ...
Can laser improve my skin scars after kenalog injections?
PIH
Nov 7, 2018
Thank you for your question.  This is PIH which will typically best respond to some combination of Hydroquinone and Tretinoin to prime the skin for a few months and then combinations of Pico Nd:Yag 1064 and chemical peels.  If left alone it should also continue to improve on its own over time, but the topicals in combination with lasers and peels can expedite the process.  Kind Regards, Dr. Matt Elias (Board Certified Dermatologist)
Is V Beam or Laser Genesis better for diffuse redness from keratosis pilaris rubra/rosacea?
Red Cheeks
Nov 6, 2018
Thank you for your question.  We have found the most effective treatment for "Red Cheeks" is layering multiple lasers on the same visit.  Typically a series of treatments is needed but by layering the Excel V (KTP 532) with Laser Genesis (Nd:Yag 1064) you tend to see much better results.  The VBeam (pulsed Dye 585/595) is also an excellent vascular laser and can be combined with micro pulsed 1064 treatment.
Is it possible to be Immune to Botox & Dysport?
Neuromodulator neutralizing antibodies
Nov 5, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Yes, there are a few limited case reports describing neutralizing antibodies to botox.  The mouse phrenic nerve hemidiaphragm assay (HDA) can be used to test for neutralizing antibodies, though it is very expensive, not readily available, and doesn't give you a complete picture of "immunity."  Switching to another toxin (except for Myobloc), likely won't solve the issue currently, though in the future there may be more US approved toxins that can help.  Ki...

Mar 20, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Unfortunately, there are many people who claim expertise under the guise of experience ("I do it every day") but there is more than goes into it that.  IF you do it every day and haven't been properly trained and are doing it wrong or unsafe every day - what does it mean that you are doing it every day - essentially nothing.  You should be looking for someone that has the proper training (a core specialist) and experience to yield the best results.  D...

Laser acne scar treatment...
Mar 3, 2018
Thank you for your question.  I am confused by what treatment you had, 1550 is not fractional CO2.  Both Fraxel 1550nm wavelength and CO2 10,600nm wavelength either fractionated or fully ablative are reasonable treatments for acne scarring.  You will see more aggressive and likely better results with CO2, likely only requiring one treatment but with downtime.  To achieve similar results with Fraxel 1550 will likely require multiple treatments.  Rolling acne scars respond well to subci...

Feb 27, 2018
Thank you for your question.  If you are certain the puffiness is due to filler, it should be treated with hyaluronidase like Hylenex.  That being said Volbella being a Vycross filler is very difficult to dissolve and will take large volumes of hyaluronidase and may take multiple treatments.  If you have nodules, these could be Vycross nodules which are currently underreported in the literature.  Please follow up with an expert Board Certified Dermatologist, PS, Oculoplastics for proper eva...
Does Coolsculpting work for reducing the size of my buttocks?
Coolsculpting buttocks...
Feb 20, 2018
Thank you for your question.  Coolsculpting will work on the banana roll under your buttocks but not on your actual buttocks.  In fact by treating and diminishing your banana roll, it may make your buttocks appear even larger.  Likely the best intervention for decreasing the size of your buttocks will be a surgical approach, please follow up with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
