What to Expect from Swelling After Juvederm for Lips?
Swelling After Juvederm of Lips
Jan 6, 2020
The degree of swelling is variable with patients. In most cases, patients can go to work the same day. If there is noticeable swelling, it usually subsides within 3 days or less. I always have my patients ice before and after the procedure and if there is swelling, I suggest they continue icing for the next 24-48 hrs. In the presence of bruising, the swelling can last longer.
As for the results, you can see them instantly minus the...
Restylane and Juvederm Bumps - What Causes Them?
Bumps or Lumps After Filler Injection
Jan 6, 2020
Although rare, lumps are a risk of any filler treatment. Areas where the skin is thicker such as the cheeks and smile lines are less prone to lumps in comparison to areas where the skin is thinner such as the lips and undereye. Restylane and Juvederm are both hyaluronic acid fillers. The benefit of using any hyaluronic acid fillers vs. fillers such as sculptra and radiesse is that they can be reversed or dissolved in 1- 2 days using an...
Why do some surgeons still prefer using Juvederm to fill tear troughs?
Juvederm for Tear Trough or Undereye Filler
Jan 6, 2020
Each injector has their preference for tear trough fillers. It is important to assess the patient and see what will be best for them. With this said, it is not that Juvederm is "heavier", but is a slightly more hydrophilic which means it draws more water to the area. Also, keep in mind that all fillers including Restylane and Belotero are considered off-label for the undereyes or tear troughs. Although I use Restylane more often for this area, I have used...
Do I need fillers or a thread lift?
Threadlift vs. Fillers for Smile Lines and Marionette Lines
Jan 6, 2020
Both thread lift and fillers can be used to treat the smile lines and marionette lines in the hands of an experienced provider. Sometimes the combination of both is ideal for a patient that has deeper smile and marionette lines since placing too much volume using fillers in this area can make the lower face look heavier or fuller. It is difficult to tell by your picture what would be best for you and I would highly recommend getting a consultation first.

How Long Does the Thread Lift Last?
How Long does a Threadlift last?
Jan 6, 2020
The longevity of thread lifts depends on the type of threads used, the laxity of the skin, skill of the practitioner and how many threads used. We use Nova threads which are the only FDA approved threads on the market made of PDO which is a very safe substance that gets absorbed by the body, and on average these threads last about 12 months.

How much Voluma, on average is used in each cheek for volume?
How Much Voluma per Cheek?
Jan 6, 2020
The amount of Voluma used depends on the patient's age, volume and bone loss, and goals. As we get older, in addition to loosing collagen which causes skin to sag, we loose fat on our cheeks and bone as well. Someone who is in their 30's-40's may need on average 2-3 syringes whereas someone older in their 50's-60's may need 4-6 syringes. As for goals, I get women in their 20's-30's who just want to contour their cheeks and may just need 1-2 syringes split between the cheeks...
Is it safe to get Voluma if you have acne?
Is it Safe to have Voluma Filler with Acne
Jan 6, 2020
There is not problem getting any injectable fillers including Voluma in the presence of Acne as long as the filler is not injected through any active acne lesions, and of course appropriate precautions are taken including sterilizing any area being injected.

Is Voluma Good Alone to treat Smile Lines/ Marionette Lines
Mar 21, 2019
When treating the smile lines (unless they are very mild), I like using a dual approach combining Voluma placed strategically in the cheeks (to lift) and then softening the smile lines with a softer and more flexible filler such as Vollure or one of the other Juvederm line of fillers.. I don't think it is enough to just to place Voluma in the cheeks. As for how many syringes you need, you will need a consultation with an experienced medical professional to determine...
Does one syringe per cheek of Voluma generally produce noticeable results?
How many syringes of Voluma do I need for the cheeks?
Mar 21, 2019
Keep in mind that one syringe of Voluma is only 1 ml or in practical terms only about 1/5th of a teaspoon so depending on your age and/or loss of volume in the area and what your goals are, two syringes may not be enough. Voluma is an excellent filler, but how many syringes you need can only be determined after a thorough evaluation of your facial anatomy. and your goals by a skilled and experienced medical professional.

What non surgical procedure I need to make my jaw more symmetrical?
How to treat facial asymmetry (jaw asymmetry) non-surgical procedures (jaw asymmetry)
Mar 21, 2019
We all have some degree of facial asymmetry. With this said, this may be related to a number of factors which may require a combination or procedures such as dermal fillers placed strategically along the jawline, Botox if it is due to enlarged masseter muscle, and possible threadlift to lift lax skin. It is best to seen an experienced provider for a consultation first.

What is a less invasive alternative to a facelift?
Non-Surgical facelift - Threadlift - Treatment of Marionette Lines
Mar 21, 2019
Yes, thread lift is an excellent option for a non-surgical facelift, and great for anyone with minimal to moderate laxity of the skin of the lower face, In your case, it would help lift the skin that may be creating the marionette lines you are seeing at the corner of your mouth. You are definitely too young to be have surgery for this!

My lips are asymmetrical, what can be done about this, please?
How to treat asymmetrical lips?
Mar 21, 2019
It is difficult to appreciate the asymmetry from this photo. With this said, treatment of the lips with hyaluronic acid based filers by a skilled professional can help improve the asymmetry you may have. There are a variety of fillers so I would recommend a consultation first.
Trying to decide what kind of filler I should go with for my lips?
What filler should I do for my lips?
Mar 21, 2019
You have beautiful shaped lips and since this is your first time using fillers, I woulds start you with Volbella which is a relatively new filler that is excellent to give you a little bit more volume in the upper lip and balance out both sides of the upper lip as well.
Dr. Sunanda Chugh, NYC
I was thinking about fillers. Advice?
Fillers for Smile Lines/Marionette Lines
Mar 21, 2019
Dermal fillers are an excellent way to treat the nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines. The cost really depends on where you are located, medical expert you see and how much experience they have, and how many syringes you will need.
As for lifting your face, you can do this with strategically placed fillers, Ultherapy or threadlift.
I was told my forehead lines are etched into the skin, what's my next best solution? Is Vollure one o
How to Treat Etched Lines Fine Lines Forhead Lines
Mar 21, 2019
When it comes to etched in lines there are certainly several things you can do depending on where on the face and how deep they are.
Forehead- I would continue the Botox to prevent the lines from getting further etched in and use microneedling to improve the etched in lines by stimulating collagen production. I prefer the skinpen device which is the first FDA cleared device on the market.
Lines around the mouth mouth- again you can use skinpen...
