Answer Snippet
Would Tummy tuck scar tissue and prior liposuction interfere with SculpSure or its Efficacy?
SculpSure can easily treat around scars and is great for smoothing areas after surgery.
Jul 19, 2016
SculpSure applicators can easily be applied to avoid surgical scars, but can treat the immediately adjacent area, which helps to smooth and even out abdominal surgery areas. Because the applicators can be placed in any number of various positions for a given treatment session, this is quite easy. The key is treatment area selection and planning, and is best decided together in person with your experienced SculpSure physician.
does sculpsure tighten the skin at all? also, with each treatment, is it consistent 20-24% lo
SculpSure is for smoothing unwanted fat bulges, not for weight loss. It may tighten the skin a bit.
Jul 19, 2016
SculpSure does not officially claim to tighten the skin, but for the small areas of reduction it works on, it generally does tighten the skin a bit. More importantly, skin that is not too thin or loose already will generally snap back into a good shape after the treatment on its own. The right areas for fat reduction and decisions about whether the skin will tighten properly can only be made in person with your experienced SculpSure physician. The nice thing about SculpSure is that it can be...
Is SculpSure an option for the outer thighs (saddlebags)?
SculpSure can be used in any body area with an appropriate sized pocket of unwanted fat
Jul 19, 2016
Sculpsure laser fat reduction can be used in any area of unwanted fat, but this decision should be carefully made with an experienced physician. It is technically only FDA approved for belly and love handles, but legally doctors can apply it to other areas of the body. Discuss pros and cons of each treatment area with your SculpSure physician and understand that more than one session may be needed to achieve desired results. Good luck!
Can Sculpsure be used under the chin?
SculpSure is not yet used for unwanted under chin fat, but Kybella and CoolMini are great.
Jul 19, 2016
The SculpSure device does not yet have an applicator that fits the small under chin area, but we look forward to its development. Zeltiq's CoolSculpting has the CoolMini for that area, for moderate to larger pockets of unwanted fat, and a great alternative for those not comfortable with CoolMini or with less fat in the area, is the injectable fat melter Kybella.
Can you have SculpSure on lower abdomen with prior Tummy tuck and Liposuction?
SculpSure is a great option for small belly bulges after (or before!) tummy tuck.
Jul 19, 2016
I have been loving SculpSure because it is more versatile than CoolSculpting and works fast with similar results. Unlike CoolSculpting, no flesh needs to be sucked into a vacuum device, so smaller pockets of unwanted fat can be easily treated even if they are too small or the wrong shape for CoolSculpting. The procedure is fast and only temporarily uncomfortable for about 60 seconds. Even my most sensitive patients have flown through it with ease. Because small, flatter contour areas can...
Botox for face slimming?
Botox for jaw slimming: watch for TMJ first!
Nov 5, 2015
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin may be used to weaken the masseter muscles and cause a slimmer appearance (less square) of the jawline, but it's not for everyone. Caution must be used in evaluating you first to make sure you do not have bruxism or hypertrophy (overdevelopment) of the chewing muscles, which may have developed over time to strengthen a loose temporomandibular joint (TMJ). If the joint is loose, and the muscles are weakened, there is a risk of loosening the action of the jaw and...
Botox can't improve fines lines around my eye corners (crow's feet)?
Botox doesn't fix lines immediately: GREAT QUESTION!
Nov 5, 2015
Ghost, you pose a great question which can be applied to any neuromodulator: Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. There could be at least two reasons your Botox for crow's feet didn't fix your fine lines right away. One reason is that Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin DO NOT SMOOTH LINES immediately by pulling the skin out flat. All they can do is relax the underlying delicate muscles of facial expression that create these "dynamic" wrinkles. If the muscles are kept weak over many cycles of Botox, say, 3, 6,...

New FDA cleared treatment Cellfina works for cellulite dimples. @LsscNY
Jun 21, 2015
Cellfina has proven in our practice to be a breakthrough. A permanently effective treatment for cellulite dimples, it works in a single procedure to release the tissue pulling the skin downward so the surface is smoother. After each dimple to be treated is carefully marked together by patient and physician, local numbing is given that makes the procedure completely painless. None of the patients I've treated have had any trouble. There is mild to moderate bruising afterwards, which resolves...
Voluma vs facelift?
Voluma vs. Surgical Facelift: Start with the Voluma. @LSSCNY
Jun 21, 2015
When deciding between surgery and injectable fillers and neuromodulators like Voluma and Botox, seek advice both from plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists. Each may have different answers. The likely best answer is that while surgery can pull and tighten skin, it does not replace the lost volume that always comes with aging. When we age, we lose connective tissue plumpness and fullness, "baby"fat, and even bone volume. Most plastic surgeons performing face lifts will also recommend...

PICO (PicoSure) Laser for Facial Toning gently resurfaces and smooths fine lines. @LSSCNY
Jun 21, 2015
The PicoSure tattoo removal laser has found an amazing new calling. Without creating holes in the surface of the skin like some more aggressive resurfacing lasers (Fraxel CO2), it gently rejuvenates fine lines, sunspots, redness, and dullness. You are left with some redness that may last a few hours or at most about a day, but no scabbing, crusting, or wounds to heal. The changes continue to improve for months after treatment. It can even help to smooth difficult acne scarring. If there is...
Miradry lumps and red marks. Is this normal?
MiraDry for permanent fix of underarm sweating can cause TEMPORARY lumps.
Jun 21, 2015
MiraDry is a device that uses microwave technology to selectively destroy sweat glands in the underarm area. For anyone with life-disrupting excessive sweating, this effective permanent treatment is a godsend. Unlike Botox, it is permanent, and does not require repeated multiple injections every few months to maintain. It does require diluted local anesthesia at the time of treatment because the procedure generates heat during treatment. Lumps, swelling, tingling, and discomfort are pretty...
what are your thoughts on getting a Lidocaine shot before tattoo removal and what kind of sid
Lidocaine local numbing injection means painless PicoSure laser tattoo removal.
Jun 21, 2015
I used to use topical numbing cream and ice packs with my PicoSure laser tattoo removal patients, but have recently begun injecting VERY DILUTED lidocaine local anesthesia. The same patients that were coming to me before now say the treatment is completely painless, compared to variable amounts of discomfort with our old technique. As long as your M.D. physician is guiding your treatment and watches the total amount of lidocaine injected (in extra large tattoos), lidocaine injections are...
What is a PicoFacial?
PicoFacial AKA PicoSure FOCUS laser rejuvenation is FANTASTIC and EASY.
May 7, 2015
I think "PicoFacial" may be a name made up by one or more doctors to describe the procedure of using the PicoSure laser with a special lens that takes it from being a tattoo and pigment removal laser to a "fractionated" laser much like a Fraxel, but with LESS DOWNTIME and less discomfort. It is becoming extremely popular because it heats dots of skin in a gridlike pattern without burning the surface, but somehow manages to rejuvenate similarly to Fraxel. Your face is red for about 4 hours...
Puffy Eyes After Juvederm Injections in Under Eye Hollows
Restylane is better for under eye hollows.
Feb 4, 2015
Juvederm is a great filler and very useful in other areas of the face, but I am more comfortable with using Restylane under the eye area, since it tends to swell less and hold on to water a bit less, causing less risk for long term puffiness. Your doctor may choose to do Juvederm in this area but have a conversation about it first, and ensure that he or she will be conservative and use caution, risking needing to do more rather than needing to try to remove it.
Juvederm Side Effects
Juvederm or Restylane for deep frown lines between brows: Use caution.
Feb 4, 2015
There is a lot of confusion about what is "Botox" and what are "fillers". A lot of people think Botox is a generic term for all injectables, but the neuromodulators Botox and Dysport are muscle weakeners FDA approved for glabellar (frown lines between brows) treatment, and the fillers are not FDA approved for this area. Doctors are allowed to use fillers in the glabellar area, but there is additional risk to injecting hyaluronic acid gels there because of the danger of accidentally injecting...
