Botox is a remedy that includes the purified and weakened neurotoxin of botulism A. It is when it gets inside that it causes muscle paralysis. In other words, you stop forehead frown if used to it.
The more interesting botox is that it does not include protein-containing substances that can cause allergies or other complications. The drug, getting on the muscle fiber, stops the transmission of the impulse from the nerve. Thus, there is a relaxation of facial wrinkles. However, the blood supply to wrinkles is not impaired.
Application for face rejuvenation
Botox for the face should smooth wrinkles. In people with a mobile face, mimic wrinkles can form even in early youth.
The fact is that the skin of our face is very close to the muscles under it and is closely connected with them. Especially the situation will worsen if the appearance of early wrinkles is predisposed genetically. As a result of the injection, the facial muscles are blocked, the skin over them becomes elastic again, and the wrinkles are gradually smoothed out.
Thus muscles and nervous fibers do not suffer. Substances contained in the drug do not completely immobilize the muscle, but only remove its increased tone.
Every woman wants to keep her youth and beauty longer. Botox injections allow you to do this. This is an effective method with minimal monetary costs.
What are the useful properties of Botox? It calms, removes toxins from the body and is absolutely safe for humans. The effect of the action of Botox can be noticeable as early as 2-3 days or appear after 3-4 weeks. It depends on the individual characteristics of the person. Botox injections are also made in the underarm area. This helps stop excessive sweating.
To achieve maximum effect for the first year, botox is recommended to be done every six months. For the second year, inject once every 8 months. But for 3-4 years – only once.
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin are drugs that block the transmission of neuromuscular impulses. Get them from the bacteria. In medicine, it is considered, however, the strongest poison. Therefore, only qualified specialists should administer botulinum toxin. This drug is not smoothed by all muscle groups, only mimic on the neck, forehead, corners of the eyes, nose bridge, above the upper lip. With periodic administration, the facial muscles are maintained constantly in a relaxed state, which contributes to the gradual smoothing of wrinkles.
Description of the procedure
Before this cosmetology procedure, minimal preparation is necessary:
- You should stop taking medications several days before the injection.
- For a day, it’s better to stop taking alcohol.
- Immediately on the day of injection, you should not engage in physical work, sports.
At the preliminary consultation, the specialist determines the degree of wrinkles, the role of facial muscles in their formation, the point where botox and its quantity need to be introduced.
Then the skin surface is disinfected, as a rule, local anesthesia is used during the procedure. For these purposes, the skin is treated with a special anesthetic cream. After that, the doctor injects the solution with a very thin needle, the diameter of which is only 0.3 mm, into the muscles to be affected.
The procedure itself does not take much time, it usually lasts 3-5 minutes. After the procedure is completed, the skin is treated with antiseptics, and its surface is cooled. All information about the drug entered: lot number, expiry date – enter into the outpatient card.
The amount of the drug in a vial is usually measured not in grams, but in units of action (ED). Accordingly, the cost of the procedure will depend on the amount of ED.
It is important to calculate in advance how many Botox units you will need.
- On horizontal folds on the forehead, from 4 to 15 units are needed.
- The interbrow fold is consumed from 8 to 25 units.
- To remove the “crow’s feet” enter from 8 to 16 units.
- Botox treatment – lifting in the corners of the mouth requires 4 to 6 units.
- Wrinkles of the upper lip: from 2 to 4 units.
- Of course, you will receive more accurate information directly from the cosmetologist.
Contraindications
Botox injections are contraindicated in the following cases:
Inflammatory processes on the skin, acne, etc. For the injection, the skin should be absolutely healthy.
- The unexpired term of rehabilitation, after any surgical intervention at the site of the alleged injections. Usually, the rehabilitation period for the final healing of tissues is three months.
- Weakness of facial muscles (gravitational ptosis, hernia of the upper and lower eyelids).
- The presence of any infectious disease in the patient.
- Weakening of the eye muscles (myopia).
- Violation of the normal work of facial muscles.
- Allergy to albumin, which is part of the injections.
- During pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
- The patient used antibiotics less than two weeks before the injection procedure.
- In no case should you neglect contraindications or hide from the doctor these facts. Botox is a toxin, the consequences after misuse can be very negative and entail a severe deterioration in health and the emergence of new diseases. Alternative to Botox
An alternative to Botox, may be the use of a disport (“Dysport”). This is a French drug produced by IPSEN.
Active component of the disport, is botulinum toxin A-type. Penetrating the tissues, it blocks the nerve connections. The muscles do not receive a signal from the nerve endings and cease to contract.
Dysport is administered as botox by injection. A noticeable effect begins to appear within 2 to 5 days, maximum, after two weeks. To maintain the effect, injections are repeated two or three times a year. Contraindications to use, preparation for the procedure of injection, and also after – procedural restrictions, are similar, as with the use of Botox.
Botox or Dysport
What is best to use in each case depends on the opinion of the doctor and your decision. For your reference – below will be given the differences between these drugs. Manufacturer country. Botox – USA (since 1981), Disport – France (since 1990).
- Dosage unit. On average, one unit of Botox, there are 3 – 5 units of the disport.
- Effect time. The maximum effect in both drugs is achieved the same – for two weeks. But the duration is different, Botox has a maximum of 6 months, and the dispensary has 4 months.
- Primary effect. Botox can observe the first noticeable changes on day 7. For Disport this period is lower and is 3 days.
-
Distribution of the drug from the point of injection. Dysport spreads over a large area from the injection site than Botox.
This makes it possible, having made fewer injections, to get the same result as botox, which requires more injections for administration. But do not forget that in the case of a large dosage of the drug – the disportal will have to introduce more. Sometimes this plays a decisive role in the choice of the drug, since there may be cases where it is better to make more injections than to inject more units of the drug into one point. - Shelf life. The shelf life of Botox is 2 years, in Disport it is 1 year. In fact, these are all the listed differences between drugs. Often, cosmetologists use both drugs to achieve the most natural effect.
